Bud’s Gun Shop is now offering silver coins of its own design, complete with the FFL’s url and a trademarked anti-abortion exhortation. Although the non-governmental coins don’t have any “face value” (despite the markings), at least they’re minty fresh. “Every 2011 Peacemaker Gun Dollar has been minted in Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) condition and contains one half Troy ounce of pure .999 fine silver with a $25 MSRP, measures 32mm and is minted with high relief to exemplify the high ideals of the Second Amendment.” I haven’t experienced high relief in decades. And what’s with the price? Our headline says $26.43. “The rates for the Second Amendment Dollar are based on the price of silver that is constantly changing. In order to provide you with the best possible prices the silver price is automatically updated every 20 minutes while the global silver market is open.” It’s closed now. You’re good to go.

  1. Not sure how you get “anti-abortion exhortation” out of “Protect Life TM”. Isn’t life protection the point of a defensive firearm? The trademark thing is odd though.

    • Rebecca, fine silver is $24.23 per troy ounce. This coin costs $26.43 for a half ounce. Not a fair price at all. Most silver rounds sell for between $26 and $27 for a one ounce piece.

  2. “BudsGunShop.com, a proud supporter of the Second Amendment, is pleased to offer our Second Amendment Dollar with volume pricing so everyone can commemorate his and her right to Protect Life.”

“The obverse design features Lady Liberty symbolizing our God given rights of self-protection and motto: Protect Life. The reverse features the Second Amendment text and the iconic Colt six shooter – The Peacemaker that tamed the West.”

  3. I’m with Rebecca on this one, or is this a paid promo for Bud’s. If so that’s fine also since Bud’s is a great place to shop, and the drive to Paris Kentucky is lovely just about any time of year.
