Illinois’ Queen of Gun Civilian Disarmament, Kathleen Willis, (above) loves herself some gun control. Never mind that Illinois’ debt is near “junk” status in the bond markets. Or the fact that the Prairie State loses nearly 100,000 people annually due to poor economics and ever-higher taxes. To State Representative Willis (D-Addison), Illinois has far bigger problems.
Instead of tackling real issues that impact citizens’ lives, Willis devotes her legislative life in Springfield to gun control. She works tirelessly campaigning against the gun rights of Illinois’ law-abiding good guy gun owners. As if we’re the ones shooting up Chicago’s neighborhoods each and every day and multiple times on weekends.
So when almost 40 Illinois counties passed “gun sanctuary” resolutions in recent months — with plenty more poised to follow — Willis took notice.
How dare they model their “gun sanctuary” resolutions in part after the Willis-sponsored bill to make Illinois a sanctuary state for illegal immigrants? Or use language taken from Chicago’s sanctuary city proclamation. These gun-friendly county resolutions serve as nothing but cockleburs in Willis’ capacious Birkenstocks.
With that in mind, Willis has introduced House Resolution 1197. Usually these meaningless resolutions deal with mindlessly recognizing innocuous events like establishing popcorn as the official state snack. Or recognizing the champion rabbit from the State Fair.
But instead of the usual meaningless gesture, Willis’s resolution directly attacks those counties that have legitimately and democratically passed their resolutions in opposition to gun control.
WHEREAS, Gun violence is an epidemic in America
and in Illinois, touching all parts of the State; and
Right out of the gate, she stretches the truth. Here’s a map of “gun violence” in America. Notice those vast areas where “gun violence” isn’t a problem at all? Those represent counties without homicides.
Get this: 54% of US counties in 2014 had zero murders, while 2% of counties have 51% of the murders.
Clearly, guns don’t “cause” crime. If guns caused crime, Texas, Kentucky, and plenty of other states with lots of guns would show up crimson red and places like Massachusetts, California and New Jersey would be lily-white with their strict gun control laws and relative paucity of guns.
Even within Chicago, the homicides tend to be clustered in certain areas.
And compare that with a map of people who voted for Donald Trump in Chicago:
The areas deeply controlled by the corrupt Democrat machine are the areas with the highest murder rates. Even a caveman can notice that correlation. Democrat House Speaker Michael Madigan simply pretends it doesn’t exist. Ditto for Murder City USA’s Mayor Rahm Emanuel.
Oh well, it would seem foolish to let facts get in the way of virtue signaling and demagoguery by Queen Kathleen.

State have lawfully regulated guns and gun trafficking; and

constitutionality of reasonable state gun violence prevention
regulations; Conservative Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito
stated in the McDonald decision that state “experimentation
with reasonable firearms regulations will continue under the
Second Amendment”; and
Reasonable? Justice Alito noted that experimentation will continue. Not that it was constitutional.
WHEREAS, President Trump’s administration appears to be
willfully ignoring the problem of gun violence in America, and

You raise a good point. That’s why I didn’t discuss her personal appearance, or how many cats she might have at home.
My wife and I have interacted with Kathleen. She’s not an evil person, per se. She’s actually very… cordial if we’re not talking about guns. It’s just that she has no respect for law-abiding gun owners and their rights. She thinks all of these gun control restrictions are “reasonable” and “common sense”. Yet if you bring up reasonable “voter ID”, that’s somehow an unconscionable infringement upon the right to vote. Or enforcement of our immigration laws.
Like I wrote in the story, Willis is a political ideologue. A true believer in the Democratic Party. If she thought illegals voted Republican, she’d be screaming to build that wall 10 feet taller – YESTERDAY.

What is the mechanism available to the rest of the country to force the removal from office of persons we had no opportunity to vote for (or against)? So, counties that are basically empty of people have no murders. Counties that have a population worth counting have some murders. The most populace counties have the highest murders. Well, yeah.
Think of that mind boggling number though. 5% of counties in the US contain 47% of the population. 1% of counties contain almost 20%. One in five people in the US live in 1% of counties.
The US is vast, huge, empty, and wealthy (in parts). If US states were countries California would be France, Texas would be Brazil, New York would be Canada, and Florida would be Indonesia. California is the world’s 6th largest economy and Texas the 10th. If you had just Texas, California, and New York you’d have the world’s 3rd largest economy.
Put a lot of people together and you get more murders. Shocking I tell you.
