Today’s rally at the Rhode Island State House saw some 400 or so Ocean Staters gathering to protest nine gun ban bills. (The gun control package includes legislation banning “assault rifles,” limiting ammunition magazine capacity and transferring the power to issue concealed carry licenses from the cities and towns to the Attorney General (turning RI from “shall issue” to “may issue”.) The good news: Old Fat White Guys (OFWGs) are thinner than I imagined. The bad news: RI is a blue state. Watch this space and weep; a state the helped establish Americans’ individual liberty has sunk this low.

  1. The upper Eastern Seaboard from MD to MA, like Kalifornia, is probably doomed to progressively more restrictive and confiscatory legislation because of liberal voters & RINOs who don’t care about guns or gun owners 2A protections.

People from other parts who rant about how one should just pick up and move to a gun friendly locale don’t get it. If these grabber Democrats aren’t terminally discouraged and stopped, their activities, with the help of the MSM, are going to spread. As that happens, gun friendly havens will no longer be immune from inroads by the grabbers.

Running away is no answer. Every effort must be made to push back the extremists gun control fanatics wherever they are, whoever they are.

    • You are 100% right. The men who created this country where rich owned property and had family’s but they where willing to lose it all including their own life. What are we willing to give for Freedom and Liberty?

    • +1. I fled from NJ to CO, and all that did was buy time in a red state that was turned blue by the “progressives.” I am not going to run anymore. Colorado may soon end up like California, but I will vote and donate what I can afford to resist this evil that has infected the land. Besides, too many pro gun people voluntarily leaving a state may inadvertently give up congressional seats at the federal level to the gun grabbers. This would allow the progressives to project their will more easily at the national level, leaving no place to go.

      • I’m actually contemplating a move to CO… I have family there, and word on the ground is that people are royally ticked off. I’m curious if recall efforts get any traction, and to be sure I’ll be watching the CO state elections in 2014 with great interest.

I’d wish you luck, but I don’t believe in luck. Keep persevering, man.

        • MN, many people are unimpressed. Three state legislatures are up for recall. However, it’s a lot of effort that’s being expanded on term limited legislators. And the risk may not be worth it, especially if they survive a recall. If they make it through the recall, then the gun grabbers may actually be more emboldened to take additional action regarding gun control.

        • By the way MN, thank you for the well wishes. Hopefully we can get rid of many of the progressives before your arrival in CO. 🙂

      • Texas is next. Between the amnesty proposal and relocation from CA, they are about to be Blued at the ballot box.
Perry is nuts to go to IL and solicit transplants. Build Texas from within but don’t import the problem.

Ask the formerly free people of CO about that.

  2. I just finished listening to the Rabbi speak at the hearing, and he did a great job even though he was only allowed 90 seconds. The top COMMIES in our silly lil state have the votes in the bag and they will screw us real good this time around.

  3. Is that a vintage 7up shirt? The front should say make 7, and the back says up yours. I haven’t seen one in quite some time if thats what it is.

  4. In the county in which I live, there is an ordinance which stipulates that land value may only be appraised in terms of how that land is currently being used.

To someone from elsewhere, this might seem a useless example of gubmint messing with the People, but it is not. Consider:

No builder, developer, venture capitalist or trans-national mega-corporation can grease a county assessor and get a small farm appraised at its value as an office park or “house farm,” which is a common technique (practiced elsewhere) by which to force someone to sell.

Most of the laws ’round here are similarly “citizen-friendly,” ruining only the plans of people who practice being bad neighbors.

It’s hard to imagine this place going anti-BOR. Our Democrats are about taking care of the little guy by lending a hand but not giving hand-outs, and our Republicans are about (not big) government of, by and for the people.

Gods, may it be always so.

    • Just wait until people get in that want new schools, roads, and a business park along with new fire engines, police cars, and a SWAT team.
They’ll be raising your taxes based up their ability to spend, not on your ability to pay or what you do with the land.

  5. 90 seconds? Sure there are a lot of people trying to testify, but I think the legislators could do a better job of at least pretending to listen. I know their minds are already made up, but still, these procedures were put in place for a reason, to give the aura of a democratic process unsullied by political considerations.

  6. 400?!?! Come on Rhode Island! We had 5000+ show up in Maryland! And we’re bluer than ya’ll. We shut the down the statehouse! Still we got an AWB, but we beat registration.

    • We’re lucky we had 400, because most RI residents are good little sheep who want their superior COMMIE leaders to run their sad lives. RI is number 49 or 50 in EVERY bad stat in this country.

    • I’m sorry to say that I didn’t know about the rally. I’m happy people went to dispute these bullsh#t bills but 400 isn’t a convincing number. I’m guessing many didn’t know about it because there’s a lot more gun owners wanting to preserve their rights than that number. At least I hope so.

I’m no follow the leader sheep. If the bills pass and I’m made a criminal for purchasing additional magazines with greater than 10 rounds I’m leaving. I have family in much friendlier states. The job search is a bitch but it beats 10-20 years (mind boggling bill to say the least) in the ACI.

  7. Y’know, that’s a small state house in a small state and they’ve 400 there – very few of ’em kids, most likely.

It only adds to the dark comedy of Schumer’s fiasco in N.Y. a couple weeks ago.

The opponents of the backbone of the BOR are certainly doofi.

  8. No surprise here fellas, I am only shocked that Oregon and Washington was able to beat this back. Both states are, after all, full of good little progressives

  9. It is time we march not only on these legistlative instituions but also, in an effort to show our resolve & to show protection, to the judicial branches!

Any judge, from a most basic court, has the authority to uphold the constituion & proclaim any law as un-such! We need to show our solidarity in this area here & now! I am gathering my law abiding member who believe in the bill of rights for just such a protest in a pre-emptive manner & i suggets you all do the same

  10. Unfortunately, there are no common sense gun control laws. Look at Chicago and Wash, DC. The strictest gun control laws in the country and they have the greatest gun crime rates in the nation. Both cities are examples of what will happen nationwide. Criminals already have their stock piles of guns and they don’t obey the laws.

When are you gun grabbers going to pass a law that requires all persons of criminal persuasion to turn in their guns within 24 hours.

Way are you NOT concentrating on the criminals instead of concentrating on law abiding citizens.

How many more children have to die before you get serious about going after the **criminals with guns** and those with mental health problems?

    • Democrats and grabbers don’t need to concentrate on new laws against criminal offenders because there are already bountiful laws on the books for that effort. It’s enforcement that needs improvement.

The utopian hand wringing grabbers concentrate on law abiding citizen gun owners because their version of civilization means no guns are needed; that removing legally owned guns will create scarcity such that no one including criminals will be able to arm up. The Achilles heel of that ideology is that:

      A) As long as guns are made for anyone, including governments who will ALWAYS have them, the criminal element will also have access to firearms. One need only look to Mexico, South America and anywhere in Africa or the Middle East to see overwhelming examples of that reality.

      B) It is not possible to ever eradicate firearms from the world’s populations; they will always be available to folks at some level. If you have off record guns, would you turn them in?

The fallacy of the grabbers ideals and efforts is that:

      A) By removing firearms from the possession the law abiding, criminal offenders will knowingly have the upper hand, become ever more emboldened, more violent, and victimize more citizens. Look to any large liberal gun restricted city to confirm that effect.

      B) A new class of criminal offenders will be created; those who resist complying with the increasingly draconian confiscatory gun laws simply because of the injustice and unfairness of those laws and unwillingness to surrender lawfully acquired property. It goes against all our American heritage and Constitutional protections on many levels.

So instead of moving TOWARD their ideal utopian society, all the liberal Democrat gun grabbers, their MSM lap dogs, and their sheeple followers end up doing is moving AWAY from utopia and TOWARD more hand wringing. And by then, the monster will be out of its cage.

  11. I’m watching the disarming of the northern states with glee. Ahemm…. my bad. THIS IS TERRIBLE….

  12. Rhode Island is certainly the most corrupt state in the Union, even more corrupt than Louisiana under Huey Long. The General Assembly is an insane asylum. The Governor is a former farrier who has intelligence approaching that of an average second grader. Elections for public office are more like elections for union shop stewards. Many of Rhode Island’s people are miraculously self-absorbed, insular, suspicious and unfriendly. Kennedy worship is the state’s dominant religion. And when it comes to laws, if it’s stupid, you can count on L’il Rhody to jump aboard.

  13. RI is ALREADY may issue, because you need a “legitimate” reason and they do not accept self defense. Nonresident permits overwhelmingly get denied just to see if the applicant will fight the denial (remember- once denied, you’ve got to admit that on every other CCW permit app!).

  14. Big American Babies™, you want your toy guns! Keep them! Play with them! Give them to your children! Doom yourselves! You are your own Al Queda without knowing it, Big American Babies! Wah!! Wah!! Wah!! I’m not changing your diapers! Phew!

  15. I am in the process of making a yard sign that will be placed prominently on my lawn. It will read “Dang the TRAITORS to the Constitution”. The “D” will be crossed out and replaced with a “H”. It’s high time these traitors were charged with treason and subversion, given a fair trial, and then put out of our misery. And if you, Mr. Miller, are reading this, I unapologetically say, “Go F yourself and the horse you rode in on”. And that goes for all your buddies too. You pissant pr*ck.
