Happiness may be a warm gun, but snuggling up to one at night is a decidedly dicey proposition. Even if it’s unloaded? I’ll go with the old expression, if you don’t understand it, it’s not for you. Me. Nor am I a night table gun kinda guy. Kids. I sacrifice instant access for child safety (as I am legally obliged to do). That said, I empathize with those who need a gun RIGHT THERE at night. Fear sucks. And if you’re afraid of a late night home invasion, there’s nothing quite like having deadly force at your beck and call to soothe those jangling nerves. Still, safety on? And how about keeping the chamber empty? “Sheriff’s deputies were called to the home on 12th Street near Fern Avenue about 5:50 a.m., sheriff’s Lt. Tony Giammarino said,” according to signonsandiego.com. “The man told them that he was sleeping with his gun and mistakenly shot himself in the back of the leg, Giammarino said. He was taken to a hospital for treatment. Deputies are investigating.”

  1. Oops. I think he needs a table or something right next to his bed to put the gun on. That's loving your gun just a bit to much.
