Everyone knows that what happens after the bullet emerges from a gun’s muzzle can be a bit tricky. But it’s also true that the shooting process creates own dangers. Revolvers spew flames and hot gasses with each pull of the trigger (provided the gun’s loaded). Chris Dumm’s review of the Mosin-Nagant revealed that rifles are also risky that regard. “Surplus 7.62x54R ammo [has] burning powder behind it which blows out of the barrel and produces a dazzling blossom of flame, anywhere from six inches to three feet in diameter.” Machine guns? Well they get damn hot, don’t they? So whoever fired the automatic weapon at the Utah National Guard base at Camp Williams that caused this huge blaze was totally irresponsible. Or you could say, responsible for endangering over a thousand homes and wildlife.
