There’s no hard data on the topic (a deficiency TTAG aims to correct), but I reckon you could deter more home invaders with a burglar alarm than a gun on the nightstand that they don’t know about. That said, a biometric safe by the bedside (as our Brad Kozak has discussed at some length) is the answer to those nightmare scenarios for those who want home invaders to not get rich and die trying.
