You know those four rules? The cool thing about them is, they really do work. Every time. It doesn’t matter if the gun you’re dealing with is a tiny .9mm peashooter or something, well, larger. A lot larger. “A woman was killed early Tuesday when her lover, who had allegedly been drinking, accidentally shot a homemade cannon into the couple’s home.” It’s just possible the hooch had something to do with Fox’s lack of aim. Or any other kind of critical thinking . . .
From losangeles.cbslocal.com:
Authorities say she was found dead at 12:15 a.m. after a cannonball slammed into a residence at the Twin Lakes Resort mobile home park.
It appears the accident happened after Richard Fox, 39, reportedly filled the cannon with powder from fireworks.
Yep. Gunpowder’s funny that way. In addition to the woman, a four-year-old and three other people were in the trailer at the time the ball was launched but escaped injury. Somehow.
Fox has probably sobered up by now. Sitting in a jail cell will do that for you. So will the prospect of huge legal bills and a pretty good stretch in jail for reckless endangerment and manslaughter. With all that hanging over him, we’re guessing he won’t be able to fully appreciate his IGOTD award any time soon.
Hey! This would be a great Mythbusters epis. . . Oh, never mind.
Mythbusters did it… LIKE A BOSS!
The “Like a boss” meme:
You’re doing it wrong.
I’ve seen 2 different reports on this incident. One, like here, stating he shot the trailer with a cannon, killing the woman. The other, that the cannon blew up inside the trailer while he was loading it and shrapnel killed the woman, also injuring him. Not that it makes a whole lot of difference, as she’s still dead.
I’m renewing my membership in the National Canon Association. Right now.
I prefer the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company of Massachusetts, the membership fees are lower, and they don’t perpetrate myths that Obama is going to use a second term to confiscate cannons.
Do you mean that I can keep my canon? Wow!
Ralph, as you know, since the sixties, the canon has been under attack, but you will get to keep your cannon. I am, by the way, a defender of the canon and cannons.
So you are canonical?
I am so canonical, I start every sentence in the vocative case.
And you can carry is concealed too,
You forgot to end your post with, “Sarcasm off.”
Shouldn’t it be the “Irresponsible Cannon Owner of the Day”?
The Feds will also be interested in his unregistered explosive device.
“The Feds will also be interested in his unregistered explosive device.”
IANAL but it is my understanding that as long as the cannon is a muzzle loader it is legal under federal laws. Do not know about state laws.
NukeJim
I believe that the muzzle loader has to use black powder or equivalent to be ok. Using disassembled fireworks is where I think he will have issues with the Feds.
” the muzzle loader has to use black powder or equivalent to be ok. Using disassembled fireworks is where I think he will have issues with the Feds.”
Uhmm now I am really confused, I thought that disassembled fireworks were blackpowder. I am not an expert by any means so could easily be wrong.
NukemJim
Sounds like we need Cannon Control.
BAFTEC
Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives… and CANNONS
Proof that you can’t ban stupidity.
Too bad he didn’t kill himself. Then he could have gotten a Darwin Award. They’re much better than ICOTD awards.
😉
+1
A single cannon can not fire a ‘volley.’
True enough. Text amended.
I find it very sad that you can jest at someone’s death. I am connected through a friend to this incident, and I find no humor at all in any of this.
