You want to schmooze with the press guy for The Mayors Against Illegal Guns? Contact camera shy John J. McCarthy via Mayor Bloomberg’s office. The gun grabber’s gun grabber is a Bloomberg staffer (who recently received a 20 percent salary hike). Speaking of sucking on the taxpayer tit to promote civilian disarmament, TTAG reader AR points out that “If you perform a search from the MAIG website, you’ll see the url is changed to search1.nyc.gov. This is the same search appliance used for www.nyc.gov. I would assume NYC funding is supporting the search and indexing of the MAIG website. Administration of the Google Search Appliance is most likely being performed by NYC personnel or contractors too.” True story? Again, we’ve contacted MAIG for comment. Again, keep breathing . . .

  1. All of us need to be asking (again and again) each and every MAIG member how much official time and taxpayer funds are being used for MAIG purposes – and then watch them closely. We also need to be asking the city council members to make each mayor be accountable for every second they spend on MAIG business!

    We didn’t elect these jerks to lobby against us!

    • I saw the same thing, and it is in the same subnet, only the last octet is different and not by that much. I am willing to bet it is in the same rack as well. My question is how illegal is this?

    • On a follow up MAIG is considered at least in part as a 501c3 tax exempt organization. That would certainly make it wrong to host on government servers.

  11. Ya’ll should send this to media contacts, most notably Fox. They’d be most likely to investigate, and anything that distracts them from their daily neocon yapping is ok by me.

    • I don’t have a direct email for Fox, but I did send this out. Also I have a friend heading to DC to speak with pro 2A legislators on Capital hill. I can tell you she will inform them of this!!!!
      Mikey aint got now where to run now… We have also reached out to Landmark legal foundation, Larry Pratt, and others. If it is not legal he is gonna have issues.

  12. Wonder if MAIG is a tax free organization? Perhaps the IRS should be investigating them. Most tax free’s are not allowed to be political.

    MAIG: 161.185.30.92
    NYC.gov: 161.185.30.156

    Seems to be same network. The question is who owns the block 161.185.30.0/24?

    • Yeah, obviously they are. A better question would be HOW MUCH of NYC taxpayer money is being used? (Obviously, too much!!!)

    Things that make you go hmmm:
    The Truth About Guns and myself ran to ground the story on the MAIG using NYC servers on May 15th. After trying to get the word it took two months and now it seems to be breaking into the more main stream media. Amazing!
