NEW GRADES ARE IN… and 21 states are failing at protecting their communities. That’s unacceptable.
Our lawmakers can and must pass lifesaving gun safety laws.https://t.co/zQ03KjruBQ pic.twitter.com/4wExNsTpoH

How do you clowns seriously argue that a state like Idaho, with its 2022 homicide rate of 2.0 per 100,000 people, less than half of what California has, is “failing at protecting [its] communities”? Seems like it is doing a pretty damn good job at keeping people safe overall.
It kinda seems like your standard for “safety” is “do what we say”, not the actual results. That’s why you give violent hellholes like Illinois and Maryland high grades despite their horrid results. They didn’t actually solve anything, but they pass what you demand!
Yes, the southern states also do terribly, but they also had sky-high homicide rates when their gun laws were much stricter.
Ideologists are going to ideolize. Just like fascists are going to fasc. Shame when the ideologs are also fascists.
always thought it was up to the residents of a state to determine what gun laws they felt were necessary…or unnecessary…..
In our defense in the South, you all know good and damn well why we have high crime rates and where they are. If it weren’t for the cities and all their Leftist bullshit, we would have a much lower crime rate. But, I suppose that’s true of everywhere. I’m so embarrassed my state doesn’t get the Red Mark of Awesome from these clowns, we really need to get our shit together and get that Giffords “F.”
The crime rates in northern cities have skyrocketed because the white Left/atheists hates the traditional family of one man and one woman. They don’t believe a father’s love and discipline is necessary to raise his children.
So the Left are huge supporters of the welfare industrial complex. They like replacing a father with government $$$. Undisciplined children become Undisciplined adults criminals.
I’ve got an idea…let’s use a demographic that along the way lost the meaning of Content of Character and fill their heads with drugs and buckets of sleaze and weapons they are sure to criminally misuse…that will scare the pants off the Gun Control History illiterate public. Now let’s capitalize on the carnage by passing knee jerk Gun Control laws that disarm, ban and restrict firearms available to law abiding citizens…Think such a diabolical idea will work?
https://youtube.com/watch?v=ZFEz3Bt9hCw&feature=shared
“…my state doesn’t get the Red Mark of Awesome…”
Mine (OH) doesn’t either, apparently, even though we have permitless carry, we are a home rule state EXCEPT FOR GUN CONTROL ORDINANCES, and we’re low crime in the conservative rural counties but high crime in the leftist metro counties. Huh, I wonder what their criteria are? Maybe it’s legal pot and unlimited abortion or stuff like that?
Kinda reminds me of my mom when we were kids. Three boys growing up on a small family farm, and we were always, er, having adventures. Mom would reach a tipping point, and proclaim to the sky that one of these days she was going to go screaming down the road. I don’t know why she did that, because doing so just gave us a goal.
gun laws in places like Ohio and Indiana aren’t all that bad…..
CNN, yes: CNN: “The homicide rate among young Black men – 142 homicide deaths for every 100,000 Black men ages 20 to 24 – was nearly 10 times higher than the overall firearm death rate in the US in 2021.
Homicide rates among Black and Hispanic men were highest in the 20 to 24 age group. But for White men, the rate was highest in the 30 to 34 age group. When comparing these groups, the homicide rate was nearly four times higher among young Hispanic men compared with White men, and the homicide rate among young Black men was a staggering 22 times higher than among White men.”

Publishing such data is grossly rasissississ.
any place that has a high concentration of blacks will have a high crime rate…doesn’t matter what part of the country it’s in…pretty much a given…..
Dang it !
Florida is in the grey. (Purple ?!)
We need to work harder to get into the red.
Homicide rates have nothing to do with geography, and everything to do with local demographics.
I recently learned that the Psychology community has determined that 1 out of every 100 people are psychopaths. In case you are unaware, psychopaths are extreme narcisists who only care about themselves and have effectively ZERO concern/empathy for others.
I can only wonder if our policy makers (both politicians and business CEOs) number about 1 out of every 100 people–and how that might relate to the fact that 1 out of every 100 people are psychopaths. It sure would explain a LOT of what we see.
👍
You’d think Giffords had a hole in their head🙄😀
If you listen to shrinks, one in four Americans have a mental health problem. IMO, shrinks cause more mental health and emotional problems than they can ever dream of curing. Don’t listen to the mindfokkers!!
Shrinks have one of the higher suicide rates when broken down by occupation, police if I remember has the highest rate.
Paul, just a wild ass guess here… do shrinks make up about 25% of the population?
That would both verify their claim and also explain the source of the problem.
“Psychology community has determined that 1 out of every 100 people are psychopaths”
They obviously omit the gazillions of sexual degenerates (homo/tranny) that they claim exist (when the objective is to normalize degenerate behavior). AND the social media tramps that apparently dominate the 20-45yr old dating” “pool.
Provide examples where pshinks “cured” any nutter. Less useful trade than even chiropractor. The cash for both is in never ending, on going “treatments”.
a lot of the shrinks i’ve encountered look like they could use one themselves….the one most highly regarded in the county wound up shooting himself……
The GIffords are Hoplophobes. They have no idea of what guns are all about. But then most of the Leftists have no clue either.
I just saw a poll where 97% of the people who took the poll say they support the NRA. That is going to frost a bunch of people here.
It’s all about millions of people who fall for Gun Control because they know nothing about The History of Gun Control…Unfortunately Gun Owning blowbags who would rather talk trash than educate are the best at keeping it a secret…

“It’s all about millions of people who fall for Gun Control because they know nothing about The History of Gun Control…”
I don’t buy that: I believe “it’s” primarily about millions of Americans who went several decades in prosperity, where the majority of people, even in the large metro areas, generally were law-abiding regardless of race, gender or religion; were pretty much on the same page as to what it meant “to be an American”; had some semblance of a higher-order deity/religion to help guide them rather than government laws; and lived in an era where policing and the judicial system was fairly effective in maintaining order in a fair manner.
In my younger years during the 1950s/early ‘60s, most Americans believed “crime doesn’t pay”. Today, our elected officials and others in high appointed positions prove that it does-every day. We know it’s wrong, but we allow it as a society.
It is very difficult to convince people who grew up in an era of not having to worry about their personal survival to begin taking responsibility for it themselves. That is the primary reason for the Second Amendment- the ability for one to determine their own course of action and life within the confines of the Constitution, and right from wrong. Altering what has been years of public acceptance takes time and patience. And for God’s sake- no one should accept that any governing body would ever willingly surrender control or regulatory powers- those are the very things government thrives on when The People are not willing to “govern” themselves.
Outstanding and correct.
believe it or not there was a time when few if any of us carried guns around…we’re talking handguns here, not rifles or shotguns…that all began to change in the sixties when the idea of getting a gun permit became plausible….and they became easier to obtain….now, of course… its just routine….wasn’t always like it is now…more’s the pity…better times….
the Giffords are victims…that can change their outlook and understandably so…doesn’t make them right though….
“I just saw a poll where 97% of the people who took the poll say they support the NRA. That is going to frost a bunch of people here.”
Not necessarily. There are two factors at play: ignorance; stupidity.
Ignorance is lacking information. Stupidity is having valid information, and refusing to do anything about it.
hard to support the NRA these days…its become a corrupt organization at the upper levels….
Sam, Opinions about the NRA are like ass holes. Everyone has one. While the NRA may not be “perfect” in the eyes of some here, it is still doing yeoman’s work in protecting our 2nd Amendment right and well as firearms instruction. The NRA-IRA is the lobbying arm of the NRA.
frank, the Giffords were against firearms in the hands of civilians BEFORE she was shot.
Gun control has never been about keeping people safe. It’s always been about the CONTROL and always will be.
Well-stated.
GUN-CONTROL is PEOPLE-CONTROL!
all part of a broad agenda…but the more you try to restrict the more people are prodded to buy one…a concept they fail to grasp….
Spurious correlations are great for nudging idiots. They’re simple to understand, easy to produce and look great when graphed.
I suppose making the bad states red instead of orange would’ve been a little too on the nose.
its a bit like telling your neighbor how to manage their household because you know “better”…bound to foster resistance….
The utopians will be the death of all of us.
They want everyone thinking they are safd if there are no guns around anywhere with anyone.
“They want everyone thinking they are safd if there are no guns around anywhere with anyone.”
Except for gangs and criminals. We all know where the bad people, bad neighborhoods are located, so we can avoid those places and be perfectly safe from guns. Then, only bad people in bad places need guns.
I would also add “government forces” but you already said “gangs and criminals”.
“I would also add “government forces” but you already said “gangs and criminals”.”
Redundancy is good.
Yes. And it’s a reason they want to conflate gang murders and drug deals gone wrong with “mass shootings.” Because the common person thinks “somewhere I might go and think I’m safe got shot up” when they hear “mass shooting.” They don’t go to those places where gang assassinations happen or drug deals turn into shootouts. So they should be safe – but mass shootings are dangerous to them. So they mash the two sets of numbers together, and Voila! they have a much bigger set of scary numbers to influence the people.
‘bad people” sometimes venture out of “bad places”…often into the downtown areas of the cities….
‘bad people” sometimes venture out of “bad places”…often into the downtown areas of the cities….”
Oh no, that can’t be. If what you say is possible, then I won’t feel safe everywhere I go.
Oh no, that can’t be.
many have an aversion to guns…when you look at one you know immediately what its purpose is…unlike something like a knife, ball bat or a lead pipe…that reminder seems to trouble them greatly and motivates their actions…
Giffords are hoplophobes for only one reason. That is donations and money.
Otherwise, they would not be seen or heard, just like the other gun control organizations.
“Giffords are hoplophobes..”
Actually, they are both gun fans.

If I lived in a state that got an F rating by Gifford group, I would be dang proud!
It’s a wonder they didn’t choose orange vs red so they could blame it on Trump!
50-21=29, 29 states who fail to support the Constitution and We the People.
Those 29 states contain a lot of elected officials who lied when they took the oath of office.
My state is red and hopefully in 2024 it will become a darker shade of red.
The Gifford’s red my ass.
Orange is the new Orange.
“Orange is the new Orange.”
“Four legs good, two legs bad…” 😉
Red is the new Commie.
Need more free helicopter rides.
And impromptu high diving and swimming lessons.
Too expensive for dacian and miner’s tastes. For them executions must be done as cheaply as possible.
21 states receive an A- on the Rights and Liberty’s enumerated within the Bill of Rights.
There fixed the headline.
Therein preserving the Rights of law abiding citizens to protect and defend themselves and their families. From all threats, both foreign and domestic. Including the ideology’s of Liberalism and Progressivism. That openly detest such freedoms, while promoting through inaction to stop it. The very criminals that are responsible for the preponderance of all violence.
If there were no guns all the crime would go away. Just like if all the drugs were legal all the crime would go away.
Problem solved!!!
All crime is not drug related so that wouldn’t work.
All crime is Theft. There is no other kind of crime other than “make believe” victimless crime. All crime comes down to Theft. Theft of Life, Theft of Liberty, Theft of Property. The government is the biggest crime syndicate in the Nation.
If there were no
gunslaw, all the crime would go away.FIFY
I wonder where the come up with these numbers?
Supposedly a town 32 miles from me is the 8th most dangerous city in this state. I’ve never had no trouble there, some stuff does get stole but it’s not nearly as dangerous as some other towns that are not even listed.
Isnt it a coincidence that .giv is thinking of put ignition interlocks into all the new cars to prevent drunk driving and Slo Joe’s motorcade just happens to get smashed by a drunk driver.
,,,,,,,,,,,futher comment on the smashing of President Bidens motorcade >DELETED< to protect the innocent.
President Biden is the greatest president America has or ever will have

Forever and ever Amen.
Gun Rights are Human Rights.
These Traitors need a nice sunny wall to lean against and be given a cigarette and maybe a blindfold.
Saying it 3 times ain’t gonna make it true. Just like Beetljuice and clicking your ruby red possum slippers.
Best article in quite awhile. Concise and clear. Giffords and their ilk are killing good people by giving criminals the upper hand.
The left wants to hold manufacturers accountable while ignoring all of their laws, rules etc that prevents good citizens from exercising their constitutional rights along with waiting periods that have resulted in injuries and deaths. Their(left’s) action’s are somehow justified and a little injury and death is just the price for less guns. The left such as the politicians and orgs such as the Gifford’s should be the people held accountable. Perpetrators and those who empower the perpetrators should be held accountable not good citizens for exercising a constitutional Right. The left is the very definition of hypocrisy.
To pr0gtards, to build a new society you must destroy the old. Anarchy is the instrument of destruction when condoned by those in charge. “Give them room to destroy”.
Build back better.
BUMP STOCK CASE: ATF Admits To Supreme Court It Changed Definitions…Because.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ONQ5fvPra08
ATF is not an independent agency…their endless quest for funding means they do as they’re told and their positions change with each administration…criticism of them and their actions should be directed a bit higher….
Let’s not let pesky things like facts get in the way of the point we’re trying to make.
“readily converted to shoot automatically”….does that mean we should ban Glocks?
Iowa – the outpost of freedom in the Upper Midwest.
The Cornhuskers REALLY need to get their act together.
This^^^^. As well as Illinois, New York, California, Washington, Oregon, New Mexico, among others.
It’s funny we talk in colors of red vs blue which the leftist media pushed hard around the 2000 political year. Prior to the early 2000s the Communists were always known as ‘the Reds’. Going back a little further (1700s) the British were know as the ‘Reds’ (or red coats), ironic. So the question must be asked,,, why did the snakes in media make the reference switch?
Red is associated with communism. When the corporate billionaires bought the left and smothered the life out of communism/socialism and converted to fascism they wanted to get away from that color scheme.
I got moderated. I used too many of the ‘isms’ in my comment. Red is the color of the commu-nists. When corporate billionaires bought the left and converted it to facs-ism they wanted to drop that color.
Hope that goes through.
I’m a Sconni. Wisconsin guy for those who don’t know.
“Not in my hometown” has been our theme for generations. WE take care of our own safety even with a left wing governor.
What abuut yer dyed bluu state congrescritters? I grew up in mostly red WI. moved out before the revolooshun.
Well, now I know what states I want to move to! (-;
There was a myth that everyone carried guns in the Old West. In fact towns like Tombstone had more gun ban laws than they do today. And Wyatt Earp fought at the OK Corral over enforcing no guns in the town.
In the movies, it seems like every cowboy, cowhand, and dubious wandering stranger carries a revolver or a rifle. In reality, guns were heavily regulated in many towns and cities on the frontier. Most people did own guns in the West, but when it came to entering a town, you either had to leave your weapon at home or hand it over to local authorities. Dodge City, a famously wild frontier town in Kansas, had a large sign in the middle of town reading: “The Carrying of Firearms Strictly Prohibited.” Indeed, the gunfight at the O.K. Corral in Tombstone, Arizona — the most famous shootout in the history of the Old West — reached a head when lawman Wyatt Earp ordered a group of cowboys to drop their weapons in accordance with local laws. According to Adam Winkler, a specialist in U.S. constitutional law, “Tombstone had much more restrictive laws on carrying guns in public in the 1880s than it has today.
https://historyfacts.com/us-history/article/7-myths-about-the-wild-west/
So what?
how about Northfield Minnesota?…or did all those guns just materialize out of thin air?….
rowdy cowboys…who traditionally armed themselves….were a problem in some places…but when it comes to everyday residents, even if they weren’t carrying one….they often kept one handy….
Funny- why doesn’t Pennsylvania fail? We have highish murder rates (Philly gets real bad on a Saturday night) and pretty lax gun laws (concealed carry is pretty easy, AR’s are legal, the only downside is no Constitutional Carry, and no Ghost Guns)
So why do we fail? Oh- We have a DEMOCRAT in office. That’s why-
PA is a bit of a transition state…handgun registration…which was not supposed to be legal got circumvented somehow, for example….
It is weird how Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine with almost no gun laws to speak of get a pass. Makes you wonder what their real intent is.
Ghettoes are the problem.
neither Singapore nor Austrilia nor Japan have violent ghettoes.
How can the U.S. be considered a civilized country?
And they get a failing grade in spelling: “received” not recieved
Red States Have Higher Gun Death Rates Than Blue States. Here’s Why
TOPLINE A new study published in Journal of the American Medical Association’s Surgery found that firearm deaths are more likely in small rural towns than in major urban cities, adding to research that contradicts common belief that Democratic blue areas have higher incidences of gun-related deaths than do Republican red districts.
Researchers from Children’s Hospital Philadelphia, Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health and the University of California examined two decades of mortality rates and cause-of-death data from the National Center for Health Statistics’ National Vital Statistics System to compile the study.
A Third Way report found that between 2000 and 2020, Trump-voting states had 12% higher murder rates than did Biden-voting cities.
Data shows that in 2020, eight of the ten states with the highest murder rates voted for the Republican presidential nominee in every election in this century.
In the past, Republicans have made crime a major campaign talking point—in October 2022, one quarter of attack ads on Democrats focused on crime, and in the two months leading up to the midterms, Fox aired about 141 crime segments on weekdays, according to the report.
A report published in the New England Journal of Medicine found guns became the leading cause of death for children starting in 2017—motor vehicle-related deaths held the number one spot for 60 years prior.

“hard to support the NRA these days…its become a corrupt organization at the upper levels….”
That is the human condition. Eventually, we begin to believe that we are special, and deserve our rewards, even if it lessens the overall value/mission of whichever well-known organization we are part of. If one digs a bit too far into any big service group, we learn how selfish they can be, and how territorial.
just get rid of Wayne and his cronies…who remain in a blatant power grab…and things will correct themselves…
I was taught gun safety over 60 years ago and the same principles apply today and thye need no extra help.
1. Every gun is loaded until you make sure it isn’t.
2. Never aim a gun at anything or anyone you don’t aim to shoot and kill.
3. Keep guns out of reach of children and others who have not learned the proper handling and use of guns.
4. Keep them out of reach of anyone else you deem may be dangerous with a gun.
