“Enjoy your war profits” comely commentator Rachel Maddow snarked at the end of her MSNBC report on the “Jesus Guns” controversy. Maddow was upset at Trijicon scopes for selling the U.S. Army some 250,000 Advance Combat Optical Guides engraved with serial numbers referring to Biblical passages. For example, one of the scopes is engraved with number “JN8:12.” Reference: the Book of John, Chapter Eight, Verse 12. “Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” ‘Cause whoever walks in front of me might get their ass shot. See? That’s funny. WWJS? Praise the Lord but sight-in your rifle? But no. Maddow and her politically-correct cronies reckon even the most obscure and cryptic Christian reference on a gun—a gun!—would inflame anti-American passions around the world, leading directly to the deaths of U.S troops. As opposed to say, scaring the locals with supernatural symbolism. So . . . something must be done!

The critics want the codes off NOW. And OMG! The Army’s not going to immediate crush or mutilate a quarter of a million front line weapons to satisfy outraged secularists/multiculturalists/humorless assholes. It could take a YEAR!

If I were king of the forrrrest, I’d go the other direction and ask all faiths for some scope-mounted code work.

We Jews, we bad. GN67 (Genesis, Chapter Six, Verse Seven): “And the LORD said: ‘I will blot out man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and creeping thing, and fowl of the air; for it repenteth Me that I have made them.'” Too much? How about some MORE then? D424 (Deuteronomy Chapter Four, Verse 24): “For the LORD thy God is a devouring fire, a jealous God.”

Hey! Why not the Koran? TI9.123 (The Immunity, 9.123): “O you who believe! Fight those of the unbelievers who are near to you and let them find in you hardness; and know that Allah is with those who guard (against evil).”

Happy Passover everyone!

  1. Personally, I think that any religious reference on firearms is fine and dandy. While I'm not sure that I buy the argument that any inscription on a gun sight will improve it's accuracy (other than scales, of course), it certainly can't hurt. And I think our troops could use all the Devine Intervention they can get.

On the other hand, characterizing Rachel Maddow as "comely" is a bit of a stretch. Might wanna go get that prescription checked on the ol' specs there, before you head back to the range. She looks more like Tom Cruise's little brother than a newsbabe.

Sidenote: Why is it all the really attractive women are on the right? Virtually any female on Fox News or Fox Biz would stop traffic. By comparison, most (but not all) of the women faces on CBS/NBC/ABC/CNN/MSNBC would stop a clock. In a similar vein, show me the politicians on the left that are attractive? Pelosi? Boxer? Gimme a break. I'll take Palin and Bachman any day of the week, on political points AND looks.

  2. As someone who is not religious I can say that putting religious sayings on guns bothers me not in the slightest.

It'd be a shame to waste good equipment, let them keep them. It's not like we're issuing Crusader Uniforms to our troops.

I won't even get started on Maddow or her babydaddy Keith Olbermann.
