Well that didn’t take long. It was just a few weeks ago that Ray Kohout announced that he’d split with Heizer Aerospace, leaving him without a maker for his unique over/under titanium pocket pistol. But Kohout’s just announced that he’s hooked up with Azimuth Technologies, LLC of Naples, Florida to make his new wonder gun. You’ll notice the design has been stripped of everything Heizer, including the repeating HDs that gave the grip it’s grippiness. We’re glad to see, though, that the gun still makes it very clear that it’s made on Earth. Press release after the jump . . .
ST. LOUIS, MO (November 7, 2012) – DoubleTap™ Defense, LLC announces today that it has chosen Florida-based Azimuth Technology, LLC to manufacture the DoubleTap™ concealed carry pistol. The DoubleTap Tactical Pocket Pistol was introduced at the 2011 NASGW show in Reno, Nevada.
“When we announced that DoubleTap was looking for a new manufacturing partner [October 2012], we were pleasantly surprised by the positive response from the firearms manufacturers and other precision manufacturing companies,” Ray Kohout, inventor and founder of DoubleTap™ Defense commented. “Our industry has been very supportive of the DoubleTap project and we are ultimately grateful. Out of all the responses we received, it became very clear that Azimuth Technology was the perfect fit in corporate philosophy, facility capability and plain, old-fashioned, roll-up-your-sleeves determination to bring this product to market in a timely fashion.”
The ultra-compact, no-snag, pistol in .45 or 9mm built on titanium or aluminum frames was well received by both industry media and firearms distributors with initial orders in the tens of thousands.

It’s an over priced deringer. I see no use for it. Too each his own, however.
+1
Word.
…and I for one can’t wait to own one. Two .45’s in the pocket are way better than nothing in a SHTF situation. I don’t have anything in CA that I can carry comfortably with certain kinds of dress. This fits the bill.
Five .38s or seven 9mms in the pocket is far better than two .45s
I look at that thing and my hand winces in sympathetic pain just thinking of shooting it.
Yeah, I have a Bond Arms Snakeslayer in 45 Colt and it is NOT comfortable to shoot. And I shoot mostly 45 ACP and 10 mm, but the frame of this thing doesn’t look comfy.
Since they are manufactured entirely of titanium and aluminum this may be the shower carry piece RF has been waiting for.
I don’t think they have anything over a nice .38 snubbie, but I kind of want one just to have lol.
