I love these to-and-‘fro political ads. They remind me of the “answer songs” of the 50’s, when artists would “reply” to a hit record. That said, there’s more editorial content in Big Mama Thornton’s Hound Dog than either Alison Lundergan Grimes’ “I’m not Barack Obama” ad or Mitch McConell’s reply above. The fact of the matter: I can’t find any evidence that Grimes voted for gun control, other than supporting the Democratic platform which, as we pointed out before, calls for a new “assault weapons” ban and the usual common nonsense gun laws. Then again, back in 1991, the NRA-supported sitting Senator from Kentucky voted for the Joe Biden-sponsored Crime Bill S. 1241. That bill would have imposed a waiting period for handguns and a ban on 14 types of “assault style weapons.” McConnell has also refused to say whether or not he owns a gun. The ball’s in your court, Grimes.
Unfortunately Mitch McConnell looks and sounds like a child rapist, while his opponent looks like an Eddie Bauer catalog girl. That’s enough to put him in trouble.
In all fairness McConnell doesn’t look all that much like Will Hayden.
laugh!
He could only wish…
Love you reply I ready for the old fart to step down. Kentucky needs a change some one that’s willing to work in government instead of holding it hostage. Mitch’s only objectives has been to help big business and defeat Obama
And I am sure that a Democrat holding a shotgun is the solution to all our problems.
To the progs, that’s all the 2nd needs to cover.
Be careful of the change you are hoping for. Grimes is being tutored by the Clintons. They have established a new propaganda in which their candidate appears to be a Blue Dog Democrat. They’re not. They are there to vote lock step with their party platform. I’d rather watch as bad laws are slowed by Mitch McConnell than watch Grimes push Hope and Change to Divide and Conquer.
This is similar to the Pelosi strategy of 2006 in the House.
If you’re looking for a perfect politician, you’re on a fools errand. It’s time to hold your nose and vote for candidates that can win.
To those that say that’s how we got into this situation, you’re quite mistaken. We got into this situation by staying home while other people made the decision on who would represent us.
+1. And thats the bottomline.
Obama won over Romney by the number of GOP voters who stayed home in 2012 vs 2008.
All you purists and keyboard commandos too cool for school: How’d that work out for ya?
I hate how elections are like a box of chocolates. Even with the little chart telling you what each piece is you still have no idea WTF you’re going to get or what it’s going to do to you.
At this point in my life I assume they’re all lying scumbags who would happily put a bullet in my head for a nickle.
Nah. They’d … outsource … the actual sanction. Plausible deniability dontcha know.
Elections generally are like a bowl of random laxatives. You might not know which brand you’re getting, but you absolutely know what’s coming out after you’ve picked….
As a Kentucky citizen, I dislike Mitch the Mannequin with an undying passion. OTOH, Mrs. Grimes is born to a crime family masquerading as a Democratic machine, so she is hardly Mrs. Clean. And Mitch’s attacks about Allison being beholden to out-of-state Democratic money are 100% true (except that Mitch is too), so any pro-gun voting she does will be accidental, and certainly won’t help gun owners.
No good choice between the two of them.
There may be no “good” choice but there is a bad one. Mitch is the Senate Minority leader and as such can lend more clout to issues important to KY. Just being able to rub elbows with Mitch would likely be enough to sway a few votes here and there.
Grimes will be the new kid in town with very little backroom clout for issues important to KY.
John beat me to it. They’d more likely transfer an unspecified amount of campaign money to an outside “contractor” for an unspecified “outreach” program to reach out under cover of night and “touch” you.
The obvious solution, to which nearly everyone agrees, is to throw all incumbents out for several decades, at every election. The problem comes in with “they’re all bad except mine, he does wonderful things for Kentucky” or whatever. Try voting as an American for a change, stealing from other states is not a good reason to reelect someone. Plus, everyone goes to the polls planning to toss out everyone but 2 or 3 out of 536, then it turns out those 2 or 3 are the only ones on your ballot! Generally, the most you get to vote for is the prez, one congressman and one senator. And it’s all the OTHERS you want to fire!
NOTE: The above presupposes that you are one of those too lazy to vote more than once per election.
Congress has a 7% approval rating now, and everyone I know is saying “Throw the bums out!”
But the vast majority of incumbents will win because people are afraid to go beyond party lines and demand accountability from their elected officials.
It’s more like, “My guy/gal is fine, it’s the others that need to go!”
I read an article by Gary North, who worked as an aid for Ron Paul many years ago, in which he described the massive resources a sitting member of congress has for getting reelected. It’s almost like the incumbents set the system up to favor incumbents. Crazy.
Here’s an idea: At the inauguration, we infect them with a noncommunicable, fatal disease. That handles the term limit issue.
When in doubt, go with the party platform. Even if the candidate stinks. At least he’ll be caucusing with the right people. Remember the ‘Blue Dog Democrats’? The ones who were persuaded by the party to vote for Obamacare with the promise that there’d be no taxpayer funding for abortions? How’d that work out for them? They’re gone and Obamacare is taking taxpayer funds to pay for abortions. Do you think a pro-gun Democrat will be treated any different?
To his credit, Bart Stupak wrote a very public apology not long ago. But while he’s sorry, the rest of us are even sorrier for being stuck with Obamacare thanks to him.
Yeah, a public apology in which he claimed to be surprised at how Obamacare was working out. He’s a putz. Or liar. Or both. In any case, “pro-life Dem” is an oxymoron, like “pro-gun Dem”.
I’d be happy to tell Bart Stupak where he can shove his apology.
This 100 times. Even if the individuals look the same, the parties are different and ultimately that’s where their loyalty will fall, especially a Dem. Just ask Bart.
Or Manchin.
Voting for ANY demorat is asking for more of the same liberal agenda that has taken over the ruling class, regardless of their stance on the 2nd Amendment, or not!
It’s not “demorat.” It’s ‘demoncrat.’ To vote for one is to vote for the devil. Fixed it for you.
What’s wrong with “DemonRat”
Man I don’t know. I don’t trust either party but I don’t trust anything a democrat says about guns. Nationally they will vote lockstep with Odumbo. Funding don’tcha know…
Yep, former water walker.
Don’t anybody fall for Grimes pretty lil’ sweet thing lie: ‘Hey, I’m one of you guys; see. I shoot too’. Besides, she’ll already have plenty of female votes just because she’s…wait for it…a female.
She’s NOT a pro gunner, and she has NOT proclaimed her unwavering allegiance to a pro-gun stance on all or even some of the issues swirling around the Democrat’s anti-gun nanny statist platform.
Regardless of how you regard Mitch McConnell, GRIMES IS A DEMOCRAT, period. Nothing else need be said. Vote for her and unseat McConnell, we all suffer the consequences of another Democrat controlled seat in the Senate and all the progressive liberal Democrat baggage that comes with that, INCLUDING the prospect of more *national* anti-gun restrictions and incursions into our 2nd Amendment protections.
Don’t be blindsided, Kentucky; you don’t want to have urban liberal creep send you on a course like CA and the other regressive “slave” states. Back Mitch McConnell, period.
Too many ‘fashionable’ leaning sheeple base their vote on the race, gender, celebrity of the candidate and forget all about the platform on which their new charmer Democrat candidate is actually aligned with.
Wake up!!!
You are beginning to face the sophisticated progressive socialist liberal packaging and propaganda that more urban big city entitlement states like CA have been burdened and misled with for many years.
Wake up before the Democrat carcinoma metastasizes and takes over.
McConnell voted to fund Obamacare, so he better be careful of accusing Grimes of supporting Obama.
I understand you have bills to pay, and you provide a great service to the community, but please, please, please, no more auto-play video ads.
