The Windy City has a serious leadership problem. Amid the coronavirus pandemic and now widespread looting and riots, the violence and crime in Chicago is historically bad. But it is Democratic Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s dangerous pleas to citizens that risks even more lives.

Criminals Don’t Care

Known for having some of the strictest gun control laws in the country, it’s not surprising criminal misuse of firearms is rampant in Chicago. Gun control groups, the Chicago Police Department and Mayor Lightfoot all combined their brainpower recently to announce a planned doubling-of-efforts to curb gun crimes ahead of the long Memorial Day weekend.

The result? The deadliest holiday weekend in five years. Afterwards Mayor Lightfoot passed the buck, dodged blame and announced, “Whatever the plan was, it didn’t work.” Well Mayor Lightfoot, it turns out the criminals that don’t follow your gun control laws don’t care that you’re trying extra hard to enforce them either.

Now as rioters and looters destroy businesses and private property and threaten the lives of innocent bystanders in cities across the country, stumping on the message of peaceful protestors, Mayor Lightfoot pleaded with Chicagoans facing life or death, stating, “Do not pick up arms and try to be the police. If there’s a problem, call 911. I urge people to show strength and do not take matters into your own hands.”  Was she suggesting that law-abiding gun owners are vigilantes?

Chicago 911 dispatchers answered 65,000 calls last Sunday alone.

Taking Responsibility

As the COVID-19 pandemic spread earlier this year and stay-at-home orders were issued, Americans became more concerned about their safety and protecting their families, homes, property and businesses. It made sense – local law enforcement was stretched thin, jails were releasing violent criminals and prosecutors announced they wouldn’t prosecute those committing crimes.

As a result, and for legitimately good reasons, record numbers of law-abiding Americans chose to exercise their Second Amendment right and turned out to purchase firearms. Millions did so for the first time. Fortunately, as a result of NSSF’s efforts, gun stores were deemed essential across most of the country and remained open to help Americans exercise those rights.

Perhaps Mayor Lightfoot should take note. Across the country, law-abiding Americans are stepping up to protect their homes, their communities, their businesses, the businesses of their neighbors and even protecting those peacefully assembled for protests.

Effective Answer

While Chicago Mayor Lightfoot and many blue state governors tout more and more gun control, facts show otherwise. As gun ownership reaches an all-time high, national violent crime continues to trend lower. Millions of new firearm owners, including women and minorities, are seeking training and education and the trends will continue.

NSSF launched safety initiatives like Project ChildSafe, Don’t Lie for the Other Guy and Operation Secure Store to educate gun owners and reduce unintended firearm accidents in the home and decrease the criminal acquisition and thefts at firearm retailers. These decades-long efforts are Real Solutions and are paying off as unintentional firearm fatalities in America reached the lowest level on record in 2019 after more than a century of tracking data.

For America’s mayors like Chicago’s Lori Lightfoot and Democratic governors who push increased gun control and wishful thinking to reduce violence and criminal misuse of firearms, they need to think again. The Second Amendment right for law-abiding Americans to purchase and use firearms to protect themselves exists exactly for times like this.

  1. Did you listen to that audio?

The hatred and naked contempt Leftists have for ordinary, everyday, people is nothing short of *stunning*…

    • True enough. However, I’m not sure their counterparts on the right are much different. Just sides of the same coin with us sandwiched in between. It’s probably come time for us to remember that a smart choice at election time is the person who’s never held an office before unless they’re just a total dumba**.

  2. Lesser of two evils Larry. I like that you leave out your support of gun control.

Do oyu support the repeal of the NFA, the 1968 gun control act, the 86 machine gun ban?

We know you support background checks.

Would getting rid of the legal need for FFL’s hurt your lobby group?

It really bothers me when people who support gun control complain about gun control.

    • Yes what we want is 100% purity without regards to reality. The perfect recipe for defeat.

      • lol. I’m tired of anti gun people enacting gun control while saying they are pro gun. It’s called losing. if a politician is not directionalist on these issues voting for them does not matter.

It’s the same with lobby groups. I’m tired of people defending infringements and calling preventing new infringements victories.

2A is 90% infringed. If someone supports infringements they are anti gun.

That is why I asked his positions on that other stuff. It would greatly improve my opinion of him if he opposed FFL’s, NFA, stuff like that. If he supports all that stuff though he is not in anyway pro gun. People like that are the acceptance of tyranny.

I stand by what I said. As far as I can tell him and the NSSF are just the NRA. An anti gun group who pretends to be pro gun so that they can get money and PR.

Maybe he will reply and prove me wrong. Maybe the only gun control he supports is background checks?

        • Ok, if you can’t have it all at once you will happy to have nothing and that’s what you will get.

        • How can you misunderstand what I am saying so severely?

You ignore everything I say and project the positions you want me to have to justify an argument you put forward you realized you are wrong on.

          lol

I didn’t say someone has to be in lockstep to be a friend of the 2a. I said they have to be pushing the right direction.

I said supporting current federal gun laws and mostly opposing new infringements is not the right direction.

I asked him if he supports a bunch of gun control.

If that is too hard for you to understand. I’m not sure what else to say.

        • The goal of NSSF is to sell guns. To call them anti-2nd Amendment is idiotic. End of story

        • You are speaking to a FUDD… tdiinva is one of those “I support the 2nd, but…” types.

        • biatec and tdiinva: Embrace the power of both/and.

The NSSF is an industry group; they literally exist to protect business as usual. AND business as usual requires no further infringements on the Second Amendment, so they’re naturally on our side.

We need groups like the NSSF on our side AND we need people who can direct a good offense (I just wish I knew where those people were).

    • You are jousting at windmills. Those laws are never going to be repealed. And frankly they are not a problem.

  3. No Sympathy for the “Good People” of Chiraq. When those put in charge of protecting the citizenry from lawlessness fail or refuse to do so. It is not only the Right of said citizenry to take up that responsibility by whatever means is necessary. It is their duty to do so. If they are unwilling to do so. Then face the consequences as willing Subjects of their own folly.
Keep’n My Powder Dry. Yours is Up to You.

  4. Here’s the news from Seattle, coming soon to a Democrat-failed city near you. May be Chicago’s news tomorrow…

Protesters pushed the SPD out and created a six-block “police free” zone, then stormed City Hall and vandalized the heck out of it with spray paint. Seattle, Chicago, Portland, New York, Minneapolis, Los Angeles…all Dem led, and all Dem failures.

    https://www.foxnews.com/us/seattle-city-hall-protesters-autonomous-zone

    • Last night’s news had the “protestors” allowed in by a Seattle city council member.

      • DG, you are alright!

Just came here to say that after working 20+ days in a row and doing a full time month’s hours in 11 days.

  5. What a shame the bangers cant get into her place! Quite sure it’s not a gun free zone tho!

      • Baby Groot!?

        Mwhahahahahahaha! Well played.

Rocket’s comment on “assaulting me with his face” comes to mind too.

        • Nickname originated on the Second City Cop blog. Been referring to her as that since she took office.

  6. Beetlejuice is just another in a long line of DemoCommies to add another nail in the coffin known as Chitcago.

  7. Lightfoot is definitely a POS…no leadership whatsoever!! Has no clue as to what she is doing or what she needs to do!! My guess is she is probably supported by the criminal elements in Chicago….that’s where her votes are as long as she and her administration look the other way and let criminals run rampant!!

    • MM48,

Mayor Lightfoot is not a failure to her Progressive brothers and sisters. Rather she is a beacon of light and success because she is defending/advancing their notion of virtue. Remember, for Progressives, the only thing that matters in life is feelings and the Mayor is a resounding success if she panders to their feelings.

Just look at what Mayor Lightfoot said:

“Do not pick up arms and try to be the police. If there’s a problem, call 911. I urge people to show strength and do not take matters into your own hands.”

Progressives love that pronouncement because it feeds their desire to not be responsible for themselves (since being responsible doesn’t feel good and being care-free does feel good). Progressives also love that pronouncement because it tells us that standing up for feel-good “virtue” (refusing to prepare for self-defense because bad people are not supposed to be in the world) is a “strength”.

When it comes to Progressives, it really is morally superior that a woman, “stood up for what is right,” and chose to be unarmed, even though that enabled an attacker to rape her and strangle her with her own panties. Yes, they would rather see a woman raped and strangled to death than go out into the world competently armed and able to defend herself because guns are icky and bad people should not exist.

      • The raped dead woman is morally superior to the armed woman who took out her attacker according to leftist sources. (Just ask them.)

  8. The machine will replace her with another like minded socialist, and the crime and killings will continue as normal. SSDD.

  9. Everyone here knows all about Chicago, no news there. BORING!!!

    On the other hand …

LARRY KEANE, where do you stand on reforming the NRA and kicking that corrupt, money grubbing thief Wayne La Pierre and all his sycophants that keep him in power?

C’mon LARRY KEANE, how about a clear, no bullshit, no dancing around the questions answer on Wayne & His Minions ruining MY NRA!?!?

    • Larry at the NSSF is just the manufacturing wing stooge of WLP and Negotiating Rights Away.

  10. You need to be more than gay, butch, black and mean you need to be a leader. Make decisions that are hard and unpopular. And be fair and honest with yourself about what can be done. Political correctness doesn’t cut it. You can be gay, black mean, whatever but make sure you can lead.

  11. Lightbrain ran on a REFORM platform😏…it’s in way over it’s head. Ist ever political office! You’re on your own in Chiraq. It’s cancelled summer in the CITY too. Beetlejuice wants IL & the Fed’s to pay for it’s ineptitude!

  12. Wow! The mayor of the 3rd most populous city in America curses up a storm in a public meeting. If she was my dog catcher I’d work to have her fired over that outburst and show of contempt!

    • I posted a response that informed you that Richard J. Daley would have talked that way in private and I then added a tongue in cheek comment about Texans and the post got kicked. Apparently TTAG management is ok with paid trolls but not risque comments about Texans. Now that is hypocracy.

      • I see posts here all the time filled with vulgar expletives and race/gender derogatives against both politicians and other TTAG users. Some of them grow to be quite the fireworks show when users go to verbal battle in a long thread of vitriol.

And yet, about once per week, TTAG won’t accept one of my comments for some unknown reason. Anyone here who knows me, knows that I don’t use vulgar language or use racial epithets (mainly because I’m a conservative Christian and I don’t believe in any of that skin-tone-is-important nonsense). When one of my pending comments was repeatedly rejected a few weeks ago, I played a “method of deduction” game and whittled down bits of my comment, each time getting rejected and each time trying a different edit.

You know what finally passed the filters? I had to remove all mention of a personal opinion, and reduce my comment down to only two sentences containing reported facts. Now, each time one of my comments is rejected, I have to do the same thing and remove all personal opinion for it to pass and be posted.

YouTube, Google, Facebook, Twitter, GoFundMe,…and now TTAG?

        • “Some of them grow to be quite the fireworks show when users go to verbal battle in a long thread of vitriol.”

Are you not entertained? ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED!?

  13. Anyone not believe a civil war is on the way…. I do that’s why I own firearms some legal some not and I really don’t care. These are krazy times and demand serious action. This is not a Democrat or republican issue this is civil unrest and as a Vietnam vet and a 46 year veteran of 4 different departments i was in the green when King was killed and when I returned to this country it all had changed hippies were spitting on us and no one cared I really loved this country and still do it’s the greatest country in the world try some of this in China or Russia I doubt seriously that this would fly….

    • Really? You own firearms? All of mine went down when my boat sank at the reservoir. About 160′ at the deepest point.

So far as a civil war; it will probably be the big cities against the heart land. I feel sorry for the big cities.

      • I dunno. Looks like the big metros are tearing themselves apart just fine, while the rural population breaks out the popcorn to see who’s left standing.

  14. I like the line from Lori, “Whatever the plan was, it didn’t work.” when speaking of the plan to keep violence down Memorial Weekend. You would think, or at least I would think, for something this important, something that I ran as a fundamental pier for my campaign, I would have known what that plan was.

She adopted a bucket of bullsquat, but she hasn’t managed to empty of any of it yet. Part of this might be to hold people accountable for their actions. Start with the criminals, don’t cut them loose, prosecute.

    • She was blinded to reality by Progressive ideology that demands appeals to the criminal’s conscience and better nature, and not realizing the criminals in reality have neither. Thugs have to thug.

      • She talks like she cares for the black community but she realy cares of her own….the liberal elite.

  15. I always wanted to go to Chicago and visit the Field Museum to see the Lions of Tsavo. Not anymore. I’ll just read the book again.

    • This will not last forever. A huge majority of people are highly offended by all this criminal behavior on an industrial scale. When it ends go visit the Field museum. Go to the Museum of Science and Industry, visit the U505, and don’t forget the Art Institute, and the Shedd Aquarium.

    • Well Gadsen I’ve been to all those museum’s. Lived in The City for 6 years & south for quite awhile. I avoid the city like the plague. The Art Institute is the best museum outside of NYC. And S&I used to be FREE…the death of Chicago is here.

  16. How many bodies do you have to step over to get to the one that you think is important only because a police officer was involved? BLMinChicago-too dot com would be an interesting web site.

Still waiting for BLM to start the demonstrations in Chicago after a typical weekend of mayhem when 60-70 blacks get shot. Where are the words of condemnation and sorrow from “Black Lives Matter”, the “we can’t breathe” movement, Obama, Al Sharpton, or Jesse Jackson over the fact that members of their own race are summarily executing each other?

And yet Floyd is THE Black life that matters. Why? We all know why. It’s just politics and of course blame Trump.

“But something must be done now to stop the open season on black men like Floyd,” … they say. open season on black men like Floyd … ? So, hold hearings and hear out Floyd’s brother, well coached, and many others that need to virtue signal.

Don’t let George Floyd die in vain. Don’t let George Floyd die in vain. Don’t let George Floyd die in vain. Don’t let George Floyd die in vain. Don’t let George Floyd die in vain.

But so many hundreds, thousands, that are shot down like dogs in Chicago… They die in vain and do not matter, simply because they were murdered black on black.

Black males make up about 8% of the U.S. population but commit 53% of all the murders in the U.S.. In 2018, there were ~4,800 African-Americans killed – 93% of them were killed by fellow African-Americans.

    • Black lives will matter when the Black community cares more about young Black men killing each other. Than they do about screaming racism. As long as they don’t care. Why should anyone else.

      • They won’t care. BLM has formally been in collaboration with Planned Parenthood since 2015, and has an official agenda for 2020. Margaret Sanger, the founder of PP, was a eugenicist and among the worst of any racists. She actually said that blacks are inferior and should be “exterminated”, yet BLM is just fine encouraging their women to kill their own babies, who are the future of the black community. Go figure.

Young black men are the future of the black community, but they don’t get the reprimands they need to hear.

    • “Still waiting for BLM to start the demonstrations in Chicago after a typical weekend of mayhem when 60-70 blacks get shot.”

That’s a good one! BLM is nothing but another cookie cutter Left Wing group, and when was the last time democrats were horrified about black on black crime? They’re only horrified when they can benefit from it.

Some of the things they want:

      “dismantle cisgender privilege”

“We build a space that affirms Black women and is free from sexism, misogyny, and environments in which men are centered.”

“We disrupt the Western-prescribed nuclear family structure”

BLM has also pushed for the ‘Palestinian Cause’ as well as supported Planned Parenthood.

Ask yourself if these are the things that are holding black lives back. Some of those things are actually part of the problem.

  17. Make no mistake. BLM is violent hard core Marxist insurgency, and Lightfoot is their footsoldier, as is every other Marxist Democrat who has made a war zone of their cities, and are allowing their constituents to murder each other, loot, maim and burn each other out of their homes and businesses at will.

BLM, Lightfoot, Antifa could care less about the lives and livelihoods of black Americans, or anyone else. Their sole purpose is to destabilize and overthrow our Constitutional Republic, and replace it with a totalitarian global Marxist regime. They have and will continue to crush and destroy indiscriminately black lives, and any other lives they see presenting interference their goal of global socialist hegemony.

Buy ammo and practice marksmanship. Your life will likely depend on it.

  18. I listened to the entire recording yesterday. I found it grimly hilarious.

After the insults and disrespect directed by the mayor towards Lopez, I would not be surprised at all if communication is quietly sent down to the Latin Kings and other hispanic gangs in those neighborhoods: “Do what you have to do to keep people in our neighborhoods safe. There will be no help arriving from law enforcement. If you have to do something dramatic, clean up the evidence.”

The mayor of Chicago is a real piece of work. She clearly does not know what is going on or how to react to it. The rioters have gotten completely inside the OODA loop of these soft-headed liberal clowns running America’s cities.

The other thing is that the police comms are infiltrated by the rioters – not merely monitored, but possibly jammed and bogus communications put onto their net.

    • all true. city wide is as basic as radio stuff gets. they were clogging up my scanner with some hilarious nonsense but cpd did not find it amusing.
i think they still have crystals.

      • guess digital isn’t in their budget….kinda’ reminds me of the old days when you could monitor everyone’s cell phone….

    • I noted the radio shenanigans too.

Dunno what system they’re running but based on how it happened (the symptoms, that is) I’d guess they’re running digi trunked communications and were hacked.

If that’s the case it’s probably just another group looking to shitstir rather than part of one of the groups “at work” on the streets.

    • Police radios aren’t secure – thankfully we have cell phones. There’s counter surveillance on counter surveillance.

      • It is remarkable to me that LEO radios don’t have at least some sort of authentication to open the squelch into the repeater. Sure, anyone can transmit on your freq’s, but it would not be difficult to create a radio system where you don’t get to open up the repeater unless your radio is configured with the “password.”

The important infrastructure to guard isn’t the frequency so much as the repeater.

    • Already happened. Have friends n Little Village – there are youtube videos available showing how those neighborhoods were abandoned by CPD & gangs (LK’s, GD’s) were providing “protection” from each other.

  19. Hey, Chicago — what did you expect when you elected a grifter to high office. Did you expect that her skin color or choice of sexual partners would somehow magically transform her into a leader? How fvcking stupid are you, Chicago?

    • This. Then maybe they will ACTUALLY understand discrimination. I would love to see some leftist white folks calling the people who make up these movements for help… what a fucken wake up call that would be.

I know this because for half my life (before I joined the military) I was a fucken thug and I was the “white boy”. That was half my life ago. It’s only gotten worse with the years gone by on how teens are shown this “cool” culture. I cringe everytime I see some sheltered little skinny white boy from Montana acting like they could walk through any black hood and be welcomed with open arms. A couple weeks ago I saw some goofy affliction jean wearing white kid with gems all over his flat brimmed hat sagging to his knees. If I would have pushed him he would have hit the floor… that bad. I had seen him in there multiple times over the course of who knows how long and finally just got tired of seeing his ass and stupid fucking gestures. I asked him if he knew how that started. Usually, I’d avoid confrontation but this guy fucken deserved it. You know, the type bobbing their head, talking loud on the phone so you hear the cool bro shit… doing this whole thumb scratch on the nose gesture while talking with some goofy accent… Anyways, he was like “why you looking so hard bro?” I said it started in prison when inmates were denied belts and they used it as a way to signify their gang affiliation. Then I asked him what click he was rolling with. Told him I used to be GD in my younger days in VA. Told him about initiation. I told him a couple things I did to people with such a straight face and just kept inching closer to him while I was doing it. I told him he looked like a straight up loser and a wannabe and if it was anywhere else or I was my old self, I would have just followed him and robbed his bitch ass after a couple days of seeing how and where he moves. Told him he reminded me of the first person I… you get the point?

Anyways… he used to come in the store a couple times a week and just browse, we would never sell him shit… It’s been a month now and I have not seen him once. The story might make me seem like some old dude just yelling at a kid to stop sagging… but that dude knew what was up as soon as I started talking. I even expected some sort of asshole remark before he turned and walked away or whatever, but was met with nothing except a deer in headlights stare. My buddy was kind of off to the side with the same look once he overheard lol.

That’s how I see this whole movement. A bunch of wanna be’s just trying to fit in, doing a bunch of dumb shit they don’t understand.

      • Good on you. You can tell people who have done and seen shit versus these LARPing fucking morons. I’d like to think maybe he’ll get his act together, but I doubt it. And yes, I agree that’s what most of these idiots remind me of.

        • Yea when I go to the rallies and protests it’s always amusing to look at other people carrying. I mean, sure, they are on our side for the most part, but seeing someone with a WWII MP40 in steel toe boots that look 2 sizes too big and no gear/spare mags etc etc… I can’t help but laugh. Glad they showed up and all… but to me, they look like walking extra supplies when SHTF.

  20. I have a very strict gun control policy: if there’s a gun around, I want to be in control of it. Nothing wrong with shooting…as long as the right people get shot.

Everybody’s walking on eggshells. We see people accusing people of being racist and all kinds of stuff. When I grew up, those things weren’t called racist. You, me…we own this country.

The country has come a long way in race relations, but the pendulum swings so far back. Everyone wants to be so sensitive.

Politicians are employees of ours….And when somebody does not do the job, we got to let them go. …people should feel free to get rid of any politician who’s not doing a good job…

Nobody knows diddly. They just think they do. And the people that think they know the most know the least. Of course we all know Biden is the intellect of the Democratic Party. Kind of a grin with a body behind it.

combined quotes of > Clint Eastwood

  21. “As gun ownership reaches an all-time high, national violent crime continues to trend lower.”

Is this really true in recent years since Ferguson and the policing pullback in Leftist cities due to the “Ferguson effect”?

I thought there has been a clear uptick in violent crime since Furgeson and the cops doing exactly what BLM demanded and that is to do no proactive preventative policing. Simply reactionary policing and putting up the yellow murder tape after the crime is done.

  22. Serious question here. Has any news come out showing that racism was involved in Floyd’s death? If there hasn’t been, then it’s nothing but an assumption because one is white, and one is black.

    • No idea how it could be because of racism… it was an open minded liberal city where practically everybody is a Democrat and the cops involved were white, black, Asian, Hispanic….

  24. C’mon Larry, enough with the old trope that Chicago is “Known for having some of the strictest gun control laws in the country.” Once upon a time that was true, but McDonald and Moore v. Madigan put a stop to most of the really bad laws. YMcDonald killed the decades old handgun ban. Moore v. Madigan ushered in a “shall issue” CCW policy state wide. Yes, the City is restrictive as to where permit holders may carry, but at least it issues CCWs. And yes, the city still makes it hard to get the training within city limits, but that is still a huge leap forward. California’s laws are far stricter than Illinois or Chicago.

    • I’d say a large part of what the LGBT community fears is:

      “rate of gun ownership…

      White Evangelicals 58%
      Republican 60%
      Tea Party 63%”

As with most of the general population, they are both intentionally and unintentionally misinformed, but- they know, from personal experience, where the hostility comes from. If you substituted “widgets” for “guns” above, the LGBT community would be hostile towards widgets. It doesn’t have to be logical or make sense- it’s simply fearing things that are associated with those that hate you. It’s just human nature.

      • It is a pipe dream that homosexuals are allies for the 2A. These white people who have gay sex have said “only white straight people own guns.”

After the Pulse nightclub murders christians and others volunteered blood and conducted free gun classes, for gay people. It seems gay people are not very grateful to those who came, without being asked, to help them.

If assume they don’t think blacks should have guns. Based on their own words. I remember the white marijuana legalization crowd similarly saying, “if we could just make pot legal.” “There would be no need for black pot dealers to have guns”.

The alternative lifestyle Chiraq mayor, like most are socialist Progressive in their political orientation. She will always have guns protecting her. Just like the previous mayor, for life.

        • Another thing to keep in mind is this:

The people who make the most noise, cause the biggest scenes, and work hard to draw the most attention to themselves- get heard. When these “activist” groups have full support and blessing of the main stream media- everyone knows about it.

Just because you hear about the “activists” pushing their cause- it does not mean these “activists” represent all of the individuals who are “assumed” to be part of their “group”.

You are certainly aware of the term “silent majority”, right? Well, it applies in many situations- and by definition you wouldn’t hear from them, would you? See how that works?

        • To Peter Gunn
I remember very well watching members of the Log Cabin Republicans say black people should have guns to protect themselves. This was way back in 1980.
I also remember watching other alternative lifestyle people throw rocks and glass bottles at them. During the pride parades.

I’ve known for a while now that, “right thinking” gay folks, have more of a battle with other gays. Than they do with christians.

        • doesn’t appear there’s any shortage of (legal or otherwise ) guns among blacks…

        • to frank speak
“doesn’t appear there’s any shortage of (legal or otherwise ) guns among blacks…”

No there are not enough guns in the black community. There needs to be many, many more of them. And the best guns are the legal ones. But sometimes good people can only get an illegal gun.
But the rich can always get legal guns where they live.

    • That’s an easy one Chris. They’re hostile to it because they view gun ownership as right wing. The Left makes everything political, and they think they control LGBT just like they think they control black people. The Left is big on pushing conformity. The Party of Acceptance and Tolerance is extremely hostile to any idea that doesn’t toe the Leftist ideological line.

      • Gays can think what they want about christians and the bible. But christians know that gays are gun grabbers who want to control the education system.

I know this because it was a gay man, who lead the battle to eliminate 2A education and rifle teams in California. He is also the same man who wrote the law making rape victims and everyone else, wait an extra 10 days to get a gun. Tom Ammiano, state senate president.

  25. Mayor Lightfoot is the victim of the failed religion called “Progressivism.” It is based on the belief in good intentions rather than what works. She believes people are basically good and that only exploitation by others makes them do bad things.

    • As I said above. She made the mistake of appealing to the criminal’s conscience and better nature, and failed to realize the criminals had neither.

  26. “Gun control groups, the Chicago Police Department and Mayor Lightfoot all combined their brainpower” — Talk about the ultimate oxymoron, that statement is it.

    • Combined, those groups might have collective IQ matching ambient air temperature, measured in celcius.

  27. Lightfoot is and has been a joke in every position she has been in.

As an interesting aside, she was formally rebuked by Judge Posner (whom readers with a good memory might recognize as the author of many pro-2nd decisions lately) for her incompetence (or intransigence) allowing someone to be extradited despite a judge having ordered the move stayed.

  28. I’m a conservative, and I agree that black lives matter. Why is this even controversial?

Conservative’s policies, values, and principles have demonstrated over the decades our deep concern and compassion for black lives, black futures, black upward mobility, and black educational progress. Meanwhile, progressive policies put in practice in Democratic-controlled cities across America and the national education system from K through graduate school have created, nurtured, and empowered the most devastatingly racist outcomes in the past century for black Americans.

Why should conservatives take a back-seat on these issues to the failed progressive leftists who have allowed decades of squalor and urban decay from Baltimore to Detroit to Los Angeles while enjoying one-party domination and control? Make no mistake; left-wing Democrats have had free reign and completely unencumbered power to institute any policy they’ve wanted in every major city in America since the late 1960s and look at the state of African-Americans in those cities today.

This is the moment for conservatives to stand up and be heard. Yes, black lives matter. That’s why black voters should give us a chance.

Black education matters. That’s why conservatives decry the failed government-run schools that have devastated opportunities and futures for black Americans for over fifty years. You think it’s hard to fire a corrupt, ineffective cop who abuses his authority because of internal protections and labor agreements? Try firing a lousy teacher with tenure in a government-run school.

If black Americans think we have “systemic racism” in our government, why on earth do they want to hand their children over to that same government and entrust them with their education?

We are conservative, and we believe black lives matter. Defund the government-controlled schools and allow black Americans to use their tax dollars to choose a better school for their children.

Black churches matter. That’s why we conservatives are in favor of empowering black churches and faith-based communities to have private-public programs to tackle societal dilemmas like drug addiction, homelessness and domestic violence. We agree that law enforcement officers should not be the first responders for issues that involve cultural decay and mental health concerns. Criminalizing addiction and schizophrenia is not a construct of the conservative movement; it’s a construct of the political philosophy that all of society’s ills are remedied with a new government program and bureaucracy.

If black Americans think we have “systemic racism” in our government, why on earth do they want to create more government-controlled social programs and community centers and feel-good initiatives?

We are conservative, and we believe black lives matter. Defund government-run social programs run by ineffective bureaucrats and reinvest tax dollars in black churches, faith-based programs, and mental health facilities that have shown to make a real and significant difference for homelessness, addiction, and domestic abuse.

Black jobs matter. That’s why we conservatives want to throw off the shackles of taxation and regulation so that black entrepreneurs can thrive. We want black Americans, whether they wear a blue-collar to work or a white-collar, to keep their hard-earned money so they can spend it on the things that improve their lives and their children’s futures. It’s not a coincidence that the economic decay in America’s largest cities coincides with the highest tax rates in the country. Black Americans want a bigger paycheck, just like everyone else.

If black Americans think we have “systemic racism” in our government, why on earth do they want to continue to empower that government to confiscate more and more of their hard-earned wages and wealth?

We are conservative, and we believe black lives matter. Defund the tax-collecting apparatus in America so that black Americans can keep and spend their money on improving their lives rather than building a bigger government that will abuse its power.

Black families matter. That’s why we conservatives decry the culture of abortion and fatherless families that have grown exponentially in African-American communities. If progressive Democrats value black lives, why are they so eager to fund and promote abortion as a means of birth control? Abortion has devastated the black family, and the modern abortion movement in America was invented by Margaret Sanger, a racist eugenicist who is seen as a hero by the same radical leftists who march for black lives while marching for the killing of black unborn babies.

If black Americans think we have “systemic racism” in our government, why on earth do they want to have that government pay to kill more unborn black babies and encourage welfare programs that replace black fathers in the home with that systemically racist government’s money?

We are conservative, and we believe black lives matter. Defund Planned Parenthood and welfare programs that incentivize fatherless families.

This is the point where the radical Left will tell us that “Black Lives Matter” is about systemic racism in the criminal justice system and police departments need to be defunded and reimagined.

    OK. Let’s talk about that.

No conservative in America can deny that law enforcement is capable of abusing their power and behaving as though they are above the law. If you’ve followed the Obamagate saga and the corruption at the highest levels of the Department of Justice and FBI you’d agree that James Comey and Andrew McCabe and Peter Strzok and Loretta Lynch abused their power, infringed on several American’s civil rights and railroaded Gen. Michael Flynn with false charges, bullying, and intimidation.

If the FBI and the Obama White House can be so corrupt and abuse their power so easily without any hint of criminal repercussion (as of now), then why is it hard to believe police officers could do the same?

We are conservative, and we recognize that power and authority can corrupt and government figures from the beat cop to the clerk at the DMV to the IRS auditor to a school teacher to the FBI director to the president of the United States are capable of abusing their power. All government authority figures must be held accountable for their actions and face the same criminal repercussions you and I would face.

Black lives matter. Conservatives agree. We just don’t buy into the solution promoted by the radical leftists that have controlled the governments, schools, and culture that have contributed to the problems black Americans face in their communities. We have a better way.

The solution to a systemically corrupt government (whether it is corrupt due to racism or due to the kind of abuse of power we’ve seen throughout world history whenever a government has control over its citizens) is not to implement more socialist programs that are doomed to fail the communities the Left has been promising to help for half a century.

Every white, liberal politician from Joe Biden to Nancy Pelosi to the Cuomo family has been promising black Americans that if they could just have more money and more control they’ll be able to fix everything, and in Baltimore and New York and San Francisco and Detroit they’ve had their way.

    How’s that working out?

The solution is to defund the ineffective, neglectful, and power-hungry government at all levels and empower the individual with their own freedom and their own money to live their lives and make their choices unencumbered by the all-powerful fist of the state.

Black lives matter, and we conservatives want a chance to prove it. What have you got to lose?

    • $7 trillion in government checks, delivered over the last 50 years.

LBJ knew what he was doing.

    • Some matter Some don’t. Nothing to do with color. All races have scum in their gene pool. The problem is at this point in time the scum is rising to the top. Among all of them. Some are thugs. Some are cowards and some are opportunists. Some truly believe they can change the world. Unfortunately very few want to be the change they seek. They just want to be a part of something. FOMO on all the SJ feel good games. In the end nothing will change. You can’t legislate away racism, crime or even stupidity. They’ve been around since before humanity made it’s first steps and will be around long after humanity is gone. They’re as much a part of life as living and dying. That’s just the way it is. Life regardless of species is imperfect. Be Safe Out There maintain Op Sec and as always Keep Your Powder dry.

    • Perhaps schools could be funded from the state level instead of from local community taxes? Not perfect but could reduce a lot of the inequities between school districts.

    • Nice well written post with good intentions but first things first Joe…Instead of allowing the guilty as sin democrat party to “fix things” by removing cement Civil War Statues, etc. how about holding the democRat Party liable for slavery, segregation, Jim Crow, the KKK, lynching, Eugenics, Gun Control and other race based atrocities?
How about putting the democRat Party on the hot seat and holding the party liable for Monetary Reparations payable to the victims or descendants of the victims of democRat Party race based atrocities? The evidence against the democRat Party is overwhelming. Consider the democRat Party to be like a historic tobacco company finally held liable for all their death and destruction. I mean democrats sued historic tobacco so what’s sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.
Frankly Joe…It makes as much sense for a Black American to belong to the democRat Party as it would for a Jew to belong to the nazi party.

    • I’ll take that movement more seriously when black lives matter on the south side of chicago

    • So… you are an idiot FUDD who believes the race baiting.

      Why don’t all lives matter?

  29. who ever would have thought that a radicalized lesbian woman of the left could have done such a terrible job running a big blue city in a big blue state
were all just amazed and speechless
werent we all told that women represented the breakthrough answer to all the worlds problems big and small
and lets not forget “jenny the mayor” and “carmen the police chief” in seattle who are currently running that dumpster fire-turned sh*t show off the cliff and into the ground

  30. It is the nature of the democRat Party to discriminate, it always has been and by all accounts it always will be.. They can no longer get away with their bold faced discrimination of Black Americans so it’s on to belittling, besmirching ordinary American Gun Owners. The thought of gun confiscation and the NRA sinking beneath the waves lends a moment of intense pleasure for anti-gun zealots. Then it’s back to reality. Back to concocting lies and slander to dupe the history illiterate and politically inept into riding on the discrimination.wagon…Onward to making their sicko dreams come true…What Filth.

      • “equality”

Don’t give them the position and it’s discrimination…

Hey, how bout that white privilege amiright?

  31. Over 56 Shot 9 dead by Sunday Morning on Father’s Day Weekend in Chicago

Looks like they’re going for the record!!
