Mike Bloomberg’s leading civilian disarmament advocate – well, until he bought Shannon Watts and her Moms Demand Action operation – Mark Glaze is leaving the anti-gun org. On his way out the door, Glaze is quoted by yahoo.com as saying, “It is time for me to hand off the fight to somebody else. The issue is unbelievably important to me. But it’s a tough issue and a tough grind. And there’s a point where you feel you’ve done all you can do.” Has Glaze looked at the improving gun rights landscape (50 states with some form of concealed carry, recalls in Colorado, court wins California, universal background checks defeated in the Senate) and thrown in the towel? Or is there an internal struggle within the new Everytown for Gun Safety umbrella operation. Is Shannon that hard to deal with? Enquiring minds want to know.

  1. Gack….English English….

    Well he’s a lot……I’m sure Shannon Watts is…..

Ok, you know what: COMMENT MODERATED 🙂

    • Ok so Mr. Glaze, the same guy that challenged law abiding gun owners to a dual, and bragged about a full time staff of 85 is leaving? Say it ain’t so!!!
First Tom Ridge, and now Mark. Sounds like this AstroTurf organization is imploding.
MAIG holds less than 2.5% of Mayors as it’s members yet claims some sort of mob majority. Their members are waning as more Mayors are either driven from office or choosing to leave due to constituency outcry.
Shannon Watts, can barely scrape up 50 paid protestors to show up at a rally. I think that is their best yet.
My Everytown pages on Facebook are still up, and growing.
I think we might be seeing more death throws of the civilian disarmament machine. But, so long as Bloomberg and company have deep pockets it will continue to stay alive.

      • Where the hell was I when he challenged gun owners to a duel. I’ve been waiting for dueling to come back for so long. That’s about the only way to get satisfaction from these pos today.

        • It’s a little known fact that California repealed its anti-duelling laws about twenty years ago.

  2. I am sure with the prima donna coming on board the egos between Bloomie and Shannon would fill a room. And no room left for Mark.

  3. Ha. Nanny Bloomy will get another zealot to head it, there are many more out there.

Indeed, he could have seen the “writing on the wall.” When courts do establish leftist ant-Second Amendment regulations or approve them, the voters (ala Wisconsin) will vote in governors who support Second Amendment rights.

Now, if somehow, we can translate this to success in keeping our constitutional republic and avoid the mob rule our founders saw democracy as being, by stopping this push to have electoral college reps selected by the nationwide winner of the popular vote. This is disaster for state’s rights, but states are blindly following in line.

    • Mark must have seen the writing on the wall: Piers Morgan needs a job.

And besides, why pile more fail on his résumé?

      • Perhaps he’s realized he’s hitched his wagon to an anvil. (I WAS gonna say “hitched his wagon to a turd” but I thought that might get me moderated.)

In any case, it looks like the possibility of poisoning his future employment prospects has overridden his devotion to The Cause.

  4. I read this last night on Yahoo, and my first thought was that he was given the boot. He is probably taking the fall for the fail boat that Every Town turned into. Not that any other thing those clowns have attempted hasn’t been a fail boat, but none started off waving 50 million in the air.

    • I just read the article, too. It does appear to me he was let go, and not of his own accord.

  5. Oh PLEASE Lord, let them put Shannon in!

We need more entertainment in these dark days!

  6. Or he could have been the guy that forgot about securing all those FB pages and Nanny B got mad about being one-upped by us simple gun folk.

  7. Or it just could be that Glaze, who is gay, just found out that Bloomberg is a major bigoted putz.

    • He is gay and his last name is Glaze?

I’m going to leave that one alone, but not from a lack of raw material.

  8. I predict that this group is about to embark on an course of action that shall be so controversial that the more respectable members are jumping ship in order to protect their reputations. I have no clue what they might be up to, but it will most likely be foolish and ineffectual.

  9. Remember the MAIG emails that were obtained via the FIO request (because Bloomberg was using NYC computer systems to run MAIG from government offices)? If you do, you will also remember reading about all the ego’s in the group trying to one-up each other and other gun-control groups. I get the feeling that there is more ego drama going on than a classroom full of students all trying to be the teachers only pet at a New Jersey highschool.

Someone should write a book about it 😉

  10. It may well be that Mark Glaze doesn’t *feel* comfortable with the winds of change and Bloomy’s hijacking of the term “grassroots” for paid employees who lack commitment unless there’s a paycheck coming their way.

The words ‘betrayal’ and ‘deflated’ come to mind.

At least no one can ever accuse him of being a pinhead.

  11. Kind of reminds me of the succession of Spokespeople that the National Assoc of Realtors (TM!) had when the housing bubble was bursting back in mid-2005 into 2010.

They’d come on, each in succession: “All is well, nothing to see here! go out and buy a hhhhhooooommmmmmeeeeeee….” and then next thing you know it was some new guy saying the same stuff.

Pretty funny actually. This has the same feel to it.

  12. Uh oh, the second string and first string QB are having issues playing together?

Is this the end of dynasty? Let’s hope so.

    • Probably, this team has more holes in it than the Bronco’s did in the SuperBowl!

  13. Comment self-deleted. My Schadenfreude got the better of me … [cue insane laughter …]

  14. Not related to this article but since it is apparent that Shannon Watts and/or folks from her organization monitor this blog I just wanted to say that while I have owned guns since I was 10, I have never been a member of the NRA until now.

To take it another step farther… my wife, who has never owned or shot a firearm now shoots and is also an NRA member. Several weeks ago I took my adult daughter to the gun range and she discovered she likes shooting. Both of them are considering getting their CPL and mother/daughter weekends together now are as likely to include the shooting range as they are the mall.

I just thought you should know the unintended side effects of placing so much energy into removing my constitutional rights.

    • since Shannon cares so much about what I have to say, I thought she would like to know my 9 and 6 yr old daughters will soon be LIFE MEMBERS of the NRA. . . . They already go shooting with me and they actually know, unlike Shannon, what the 4 rules are.

    • You’re not alone there. The anti-2A crowd didn’t have too much influence on me personally, but it certainly played a huge role in my wife taking up shooting. It also was a part silencing any objections she had with my son shooting. Of course, now she does it for the love of the sport. 🙂

      • And the number of gun users who have been swayed by whatever it is they’ll call themselves tomorrow is…. what’s the whole number that’s less than 0?

  15. Maybe he’s realized it’s not a great resume builder to be part of an organization that is awash in funding but can’t do anything.

  16. He is hanging his head in shame, and admitting he is a failure at life. He will now reside in the shadows, in shame. And this shame will be his legacy, and all his offspring shall carry this shame, until one of them does a deed so noble, and worthy of ridding such shame. This deed will involve courage, honor, duty, strength, and sacrifice. Something this man, has no clue of, and has spent his life in disgrace of.

  17. I’m surprised no one here has theorized that Mr. Glaze has discovered what so many of us know: shooting is fun! See you at the Nation’s Gun Show, Mark!

  18. But but Shannon isn’t being paid, I mean come on, how much influence can an unpaid flunky have! Ya this guy is cutting his losses and leaving a losing situation. Pure and simple it is a bail before the ship lands at the bottom of the gun confiscation s_it hole.

    • Maybe he heard about the offers to take him up on the duel, and is skedaddling while it’s still dark out.

  19. That’s the difference between us and them. They say they have done all they can do. While we say, we will fight gun control and their ultimate goal, disarmament, until our dying breath! Molon Labe!

  20. Most likely heads rolling from the Everytown PR debacle.

I also got the impression that Glaze and Shannon Watts did not get a long.

If you watch the MAIG “recap the year” video in which Glaze and Watts are presenting together, pay close attention to their body language.

You can really sense the disdain they have for each other.

    • It may be something as simple as that he figured out Shannon Watts is just an insincere hired gun, while he was sincere in his beliefs.

      • Like many limousine liberals, they are more interested in status-whoring for their SWPL friends than actually doing real work.

Read the MAIG emails that were released by Judicial Watch.
