A lot of people thought Barack Obama earned the title of America’s best gun salesman. No more. Democrats, foaming at the mouth with chronic TDS, demanding more gun control and promising confiscations, along with a pandemic and, at the end of the month, nationwide rioting and looting, have caused gun sales to spike in May like never before.

Of course, we know plenty of people for whom happiness is a warm new gun. And the Federal Bureau of Investigation helped facilitate a whole lot of happiness across America last month.

The National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) unit processed checks for merchants delivering over 1.6 million new guns into the hands of eager buyers. Yes, a lot of happiness indeed. And that doesn’t include the states where new background checks aren’t needed for sales to concealed carry permit holders.

Adding in checks completed for carry licenses and re-checks of existing licenses, the FBI NICS unit completed a total of over three million background checks, the third biggest month ever in the history of the program.

Furthermore, May 2020’s total of 1,604,236 firearm transactions background checks (as reported by the FBI) represented an 81% spike in guns sold over May 2019’s 887,319. Compared to the Obama years, May 2020 saw nearly twice as many guns sold as any May when the great healer occupied 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

Clearly Americans are voting with their wallets against the inflammatory rhetoric from many in the Democrat Party who want to ban the sale of America’s favorite guns. And even confiscate those already owned.

Americans know that guns protect families, children and businesses. Now more than ever.

  1. 1.6 Million Guns Sold: and all of them OD Green Springfield XD pistols.
I applaud America’s ability to forgive Springfield’s alleged shenanigans. But I question Merica’s color choice. Are we all taking these duck hunting?

    • That’s the only kind of stuff left on the shelf at this point. The politics of which gun manufacturer we don’t like has zero impact on the people panic-buying something to keep their family alive.

      High point has their day.

    • New buyers aren’t POTG, so they don’t know or care about the history of SA and RRA.

  2. So, here’s more proof that people demand action on guns. The action they demanded resulted in 1.6 million new guns in the people’s hands. Seems very simple, crystal clear, and straightforward. What exactly about this can the media not understand?

    • Some of the Marxist Left just sipping the koolaid isn’t good enough they have to swim in it, which precludes hearing or seeing straight it’s rather difficult, thus the term being in the tank.

  3. We’re going to run out of room for guns soon.

Maybe we should annex Canada and make it the 51st state. Lots of room for more guns there.

    • At long last, we could bust up their Maple Syrup Cartel!!!

Seriously, they have one of those. Govt sanctioned Mapel Syrup Organized Crime Syndicate.

And I thought my own country was peculiar …. sometimes.

  4. ” Democrats, foaming at the mouth with chronic TDS, demanding more gun control and promising confiscations, along with a pandemic and, at the end of the month, nationwide rioting and looting, have caused gun sales to spike in May like never before.”

Not to mention turning convicted felons out on the street to prey on the people.

    • If I buy any more ammo I’m going to break a 4×10 floor joist or two. I stocked up with extra 9mm, .38 Spl., .45 ACP, & 5.56 in Feburary just before the prices went up. Got over 100,000 rounds on-hand.

I also stocked up on guns in 2019. Have enough ARs and handguns to equip my neighbors if it becomes necessary.

  5. Why do they have almost twice as many NICS checks as guns sold? Shouldn’t the numbers be the other way around?

  6. Auction on the 30th and P/U on the 31st so I just managed to assist. Found some decent prices on some used and some NIB. Quite a few were VERY expensive by standards of Dec/Jan (unsurprisingly).

Former 401K $ (I cashed out before the recent crash) now in something inflation proof and immune to Wall Street hype and machinations.
