“Today’s vote is a damning indictment of the stranglehold that special interests have on Washington. More than 40 U.S. senators would rather turn their backs on the 90 percent of Americans who support comprehensive background checks than buck the increasingly extremist wing of the gun lobby. Democrats – who are so quick to blame Republicans for our broken gun laws – could not stand united . . .
“And Republicans – who are so quick to blame Democrats for not being tough enough on crime – handed criminals a huge victory, by preserving their ability to buy guns illegally at gun shows and online and keeping the illegal trafficking market well-fed. Senators Manchin and Toomey – as well as Majority Leader Reid and Senators Schumer, Kirk, Collins, McCain and others – deserve real credit for coming together around a compromise bill that struck a fair balance, and President Obama and Vice-President Biden deserve credit for their leadership since the Sandy Hook massacre.
“But even with some bi-partisan support, a common-sense public safety reform died in the U.S. Senate at the hands of those who are more interested in attempting to protect their own political careers – or some false sense of ideological purity – than protecting the lives of innocent Americans. The only silver lining is that we now know who refuses to stand with the 90 percent of Americans – and in 2014, our ever-expanding coalition of supporters will work to make sure that voters don’t forget.”
He can go to hell. That is all.
He’s certainly padding the resume for that.

I love the look on Bloomberg’s face. Typical “smartest-guy-in-the-room” look. The rest of us are so hopeless without these do-gooder’s wisdom. Progressives. Go away and leave the rest of us alone.
He’s the poster boy of special interests that have a strangle-hold on Washington. He represents nothing but the self serving, moneyed interests and the true strangle-holds originate on Wall Street and in corporations that have their way with “our” politicians. Let’s see who has influence with you Mikey and we’ll know who the real special interests are!
It appears New Yorkers and most Americans do not agree with the Nanny.

this afternoon would be a great time for that trip to Hell. After all, why put off the inevitable.
99% of US demands gay marriage, amnesty for illegals, 4 oz. sodas and gun bans.
Keep smoking that stuff Mayor Scumberg.
Did you hear that? Bloomberg described the millions of Americans who value the Constitution as special. I feel all warm inside.
He’s fartastic!
Grow up Bloomberg. If you weren’t so extreme yourself and were willing to listen to the other sides concerns you might actually be able to accomplish something on the issue.
clearly bloomberg didn’t throw enough money at the problem
The last sentence of the third paragraph of Bloomberg’s quoted statement is the only non rhetorical information in his statement that should be of concern to ALL citizens and voters; “and in 2014, our ever-expanding coalition of supporters will work to make sure that voters don’t forget.”
Translated; I will buy as many seats in both federal and state elections as I can to influence a favorable outcome for more gun control and impede Second Amendment Constitutional protections wherever possible.
All American citizens should be concerned when someone like Lord Bloomberg and others of his ilk try to buy and control government to impose their self righteous will in that manner.
It’s more than influence, its outright suppression of the will of the people by means of lies and blackmail, beginning with his bogus “90%” claim.
He has some nerve blaming special interest groups, especially after throwing millions of his own monopoly money at the issue to get the outcome that HE wanted, but didn’t get. If it had gone his way, then he would be praising all the special interest organization on his side, and how they’re doing it for the children and other BS. Why can’t this schmuck just go away?
Ban this Bloomberg (my middle finger). The people of NYC love this guy. Just keep him in NYC.
Unfortunate NYCer here, I personally think he should dress in fresh clothes and commit jūmonji giri in the middle of Times Square as an act of formal protest.
Wait, Bloomberg has a problems with special interest groups influencing federal policy? Talk about the pot and the kettle…
He hates all special interest groups that don’t benefit him, or more accurately, he doesn’t wholly own. When it turns out it’s the will of the people the people become a special interest group. I guess every one of us would be angry if we spend untold millions of dollars, maybe even billions, and were utterly defeated.
Keep calling and emailing your representatives, we need to keep our “special interest group”, known as “the people”, going strong.
FOAD you old SOB.
Me thinks he got it wrong, it is us who will remember in 2014, you scumbag.

Thinking the same
Where the fudge does this 90% number come from? Since when did buying a gun at a gun show become a major crimal enterprise to acquire weapons?
The assumption is that if you don’t want the government illegally keep records of your purchase and then illegally share these records with newspapers so they can print them as if it’s a list of sex offenders then you must be a criminal. I mean, why else would this bother anyone?
It’s from a very poorly worded survey question that asked “Do you favor a law requiring all gun purchases (including those made by gun dealers) to undergo background checks, or no background checks at all?”. Not only is it an “all or nothing” question, but it falsely implies that new guns currently do not go through background checks.
I see how it works,,,,
His special interest looses, so my belief that the Constitution Second Amendment should not be infringed needs to be damned.
So lets call the kettle black shall we:
http://tinyurl.com/adlf7st
“NewYork Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s $2.3 million in campaign spending helped anti-gun radical Robin Kelly win the Democratic primary to replace convicted former Rep. Jesse Jackson, Jr. (D) yesterday. Bloomberg joined Obama political adviser David Axelrod, radical Jeremiah Wright ally Father Michael Pfelger, and left-wing Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) in helping Kelly defeat former Rep. Debbie Halvorson, who was once the darling of the party’s election machine but became a useful target due to her “A” rating from the National Rifle Association (NRA).”
So, apparently, when he does it, it is not outside influence and special interests, but when someone else does it, he calls it out. LOL!
most people love puppies too, but wont vote to make their neighbor get one.
Well, I can tell you that I am “organizing for action” in 2014. Suck it Bloomie and “The One”. Think I’ll have a 20oz Dr Pepper on that note.
BOO HOO HOO!
Hey bloomberg…… for once in your pitiful life. STFU!
The people of New York city love this guy? New York city is a fu**king cesspool, their men like men and their women like women, they love illegals and abortion. They are a scourge on this planet.
Fvcktard.
@TTAG Can we get an article detailing where they get their supposed “90%” figure from?
Its a Quinnipiac study, and while it shows people would like to see background checks, it also shows that only 53% of people actually want any new gun control legislation. And only 4% of people put gun control as their top concern.
So basically, the 90% figure might be accurate, but people don’t care nearly enough to make a difference in their voting in the coming election.
I believe that survey was based on relatively small number of voters locatedin the N.E. US who identifed as 70% Democrat. Hardly representative of all America.
Reminds me of another 90% survey much cited by THIS ADMINISTRATION despite being exposed as wildly inaccurate and repeatedly repeated after by the State Run Media.

It also only included three states in the poll: NJ, VA, and PA (I think, he says without looking at the document he downloaded yesterday).
“Today’s vote is an exemplar of the rule that the ideas of one man, no matter how much money he’s willing to throw at it, do not trump the will of the people.”
The fact the vote to stop civillian disarmament had to happen is a damning inditment. Progressive statist powermongers suck.
It’s a wonder he can take the time to write this piece while going down on Obama and Biden.
What a pathetic waste of oxygen
“Today’s vote is a damning indictment of the stranglehold that special interests have on Washington.”
And when I say “special interests”, I’m naturally referring to thos 285 million Americans who won’t let the other 7% dictate the terms of freedom.
He does have a point – 2014 will be a big test.
“and in 2014, our ever-expanding coalition of supporters will work to make sure that voters don’t forget.”
That’s rich. I hasten to remind Bloomberg that in Illinois, in March, in a sleet storm and below-zero weather we had 8,000 supporters of the 2nd Amendment in the State Capital rallying for their rights to bear arms.
Fast forward to April, in fair spring weather the gun control folks had “almost” 150 people in the State Capitor rallying for their rights to take our arms away.
So, if the threat is that they will rally their supporters to the polls in 2014, have at it! and Good luck!
It appears that you guys have no money to back up what your mouth promises.
Bloomberg is, to put it mildly, is an enemy of the Constitution. nuff said.
Will someone please inform Emporer Bloomberg that Harry Reid voted against the ammendment.
Thank you Senator Cruz for courageously and articulately defending my Second Amendment rights. The President demanded a vote, and got exactly what he asked for. The President and his coalition lied to the American people, and perpetuated that lie even in the face of overwhelming evidece that it was in fact a lie. The President and his coalition callously exploited the heartbreak and grief of a nation to promote an unconstitutional civil disarmament agenda.
Bad law is always the result of emotion driven by uninformed public opinion. The national shame of interment of American citizens in 1942, accused of no crime, and solely based on ancestry, is the painful reminder of the tragic deprivation of civil rights driven solely by emotion and biased public opinion. Fred Korematsu’s story and heroism is a lesson to stand always vigilant against attacks on our Constitution and our rights by those who would claim the false validation of public opinion.
Thank you again Senator Cruz.
These Senators have to worry about reelection… If they honestly thought that “90% bullshit” was true… Wouldn’t politics sway them to vote for tighter gun control? Thank goodness some of them smartened up and realized a CNN poll was probably biased. Saying this is a “political choice persuaded by the gun lobbyists” is ignorant.
You mean to tell me that only 10% of people are pro-self defense? Where is this statistic from? Surveying ten of your friends doesn’t count…
nobody needs a soda the size of their head
It’s not about need, little pony. We are supposed to be free to make our own choices. I choose to wear a helmet when I ride, I don’t need it mandated. I choose seatbelts, but big brother has no right demanding them. See how that works.
I find his indictment of ideological purity most amusing. After all, when it comes to protecting and preserving our natural, inalienable, and constitutionally guaranteed rights, how could a rational man settle for less?
I wonder if if Mr. Bloomberg would have accused a certain Mr. Henry of such a thing when he told the Virginia House of Burgesses, “give me liberty, or give me death!”
Bloomberg would have been a puppet governor of the King suppressing the rebels. So long as he has power over subjects, he doesn’t care.
Come to think of it, it is pretty sad to think that the vast majority of both our elected officials and “fellow Americans” would have been subservient, grovelling subjects back in the late 18th century.
Bring it Bloomie, f_cking bring it.
, “by preserving their ability to buy guns illegally at gun shows and online and keeping the illegal trafficking market well-fed”
Even gun show sales go through a background check.
I wonder why we heard nothing from Bloomie when the Justice Department was “keeping the illegal trafficking market well-fed”.
Hey, Mayor Bloomb1tch, shut your cheeky little mouth, stop stamping your dainty feet and go back to the Rotten Apple where you can bully New Yorkers to your heart’s content — especially the black ones. You bought Colorado, but in the end, you don’t have enough money to buy America.
The Official Quivering Bottom Lip League (TM).
LOL!
Kiss my ass Bloomberg, you little sh!t!!! It’s bad enough we’re even having a debate on gun control, but it’s insufferable when arrogant gas bags like you start talking!
This weekend I think I’ll buy a few big gulps from 7-Eleven and take the AK to the range with a few 70 round drums, just to piss you off you prick.
CONFIRMED BY EYE WITNESS bomb squad drill was already underway at Boston Marathon
http://www.hangthebankers.com/confirmed-by-eyewitness-bomb-squad-drill-was-under-way-at-boston-marathon/
Big sodas, big fat content, big cigarettes, big magazines, I think Booomberg has a “size” problem.
Well considering my dog takes sh!ts bigger than him….
Little Mikey, Big World. Should be the next big show.
So how do I go about buying guns online w/o a background check? Oh yeah, that’s right, you can’t!
Sorry Bloomy but I think 90% of the people think you are screwed in the head.
Hahaha his misery tastes so sweet. What’s the matter, Little Emperor? You finally find out that not all of America is comprised of pathetic, morally-bankrupt slaves like NYC? Go rot in your little police state like the failure you are.
Bloomberg will be plastering false ads come the next election. We can’t afford to let our guard down, and we must vote for all those who support freedom
Staring right into the face of madness there.
“The only silver lining is that we now know who refuses to stand with the 90 percent of Americans – and in 2014, our ever-expanding coalition of supporters will work to make sure that voters don’t forget.”
Funny, I was thinking that exact same thing.
“Today’s vote is a damning indictment of the stranglehold that special interests have on Washington” said the spokesman for the SPECIAL INTEREST GROUP, Mayors Against Illegal Guns.
To paraphrase Stephenson from Cryptonomicon: Bloomberg is a fractal d-bag. That is, you could take any small piece of him and examine it in detail and it, in and of itself, would turn out to be just as d-baggy as the whole person in its entirety.”
Fan-friggin-tastic. Thanks for reminding me why I like Stephenson so much.
As if Napoleon Bloomberg and his Felonious and Dead Mayors aren’t a “special interest.”
“Today’s vote is a damning indictment of the stranglehold that
special intereststhose damn citizens have on Washington.” — Mayor BloombergFixed that for him.
Boo hoo blumeturd, take a drink off a 60 oz soda & drop over dead you facist POS, your friend Randy
Okay… I’m taking just one victory lap on this one…
FOAD BloomB*tch, our freedom will not be taken… God Bless America!!!
I seriously haven’t felt this good since the election…. It’s far from over but this is good news…
“our freedom will not be taken”
If history repeats itself, as it often does, our freedoms will be given away freely with little resistance. Enough men with the courage of our founding colonists do not exist.
As an Arizonian, I feel betrayed by McCain on this one. Any fellow Arizonians think its time for new representation?
I’m working on getting back to AZ right now so I’m not sure I qualify but>>>> John just proved that he’s okay infringing on the 2A. I’m thinking the people of the great state of Arizona should retire McCain sooner than later but who will replace him. Jan Brewer? Maybe, she’s doing a GREAT job as Governor.
I feel betrayed by McCain on this one. Any fellow Arizonians think its time for new representation?
McCain should have been voted out LONG ago
BLOOMBERG is a special interest. The NRA is like 4 million people, many of which are us “little people”.
-D
“Today’s vote is a damning indictment of the stranglehold that
SANE PEOPLE have on Washington.”
There, that’s better.
Its been said before through this post but KEEP WRITING not only “your” but ALL the Senators. I’m going to start writing the HR also and pushing that if anything goes through there . . . .
I’m also a bit pissed about Sen. Wickers statement that he voted to stop the filibuster and allow S649 to come to the floor AT THE REQUEST OF THE NRA. Think they need a flood of member and non-member letters.
Oh and THANK YOU Sen Cornyn (Tx) for your speech setting the record straight.
Let’s assume for a minute that Bloomberg’s stats are correct. What the senators that voted against this stuff did was to protect the rights of the 10% minority from being Tyrannized by the 90% majority. That is exactly how a Constitutional republic should work.
Looks like someone handed him a jumbo size 128 oz steaming hot cup of shut the ____ up… Suck it Bloomers…
What makes Bloomberg think that MAIG is not a special interest group?
Willfully ignorant…. BloomB1tch is allergic to the truth…
Since when is freedom and liberty an “extremist view”? All any of these bills would do is give the political elite one more incremental step toward ultimate control, all while steadfastly refusing to even listen to any proposals that would actually do something to save lives. I sometimes wish we could prosecute such folks for aiding and abetting criminals.
And Mayors Againt Illegal Guns isn’t a special interest group? What a bunch off whiny losers.
14′ will come….oh, it will come. And it (the midterms) wont be the vote you creepy libtards think it will be….unless your smart and see that it will be a libtard slaughter, thanks to Barry and Co, the greatest firearms salesmen in history.
Liberalism is a mental disorder.
Just so we’re clear, people who advocate for civil liberties, in this case the 2A, are “special interest groups” but people who want to take rights away are not? I guess we live in opposite land now.
