Mec-Gar is one of the world’s largest OEM and aftermarket magazine manufacturers. If your new pistol ships with really shiny, deep-blue metal magazines, there’s a good chance Meg-Gar made them for the manufacturer’s label. But OEM or aftermarket, it’s all the same right now: Mec-Gar has no magazines in stock. That’s kind of like Nike having no more shoes, or McDonald’s running out of fries. We live in interesting times…

    • It’s not like they haven’t made them before. Something stinks about this. Is there an embargo on steel? Someone should tell Detroit. Oh… they don’t make cars anymore. Tell GM China. Or GM Brazil.

      • I was out at the beach the other day and they said they no longer have seafood. No shrimp. No crabs. No scallops. No lobster. No fish of any kind. Then someone spoke up and said, “on a different subject, did you hear the most famous, reputable magazine maker in the world has no 15rd magazines?” Amazing, I said. Wonder who they’re kowtowing to?

Then . . out of nowhere . . the AFLAC duck walked in and said, “BARAAAAAAAAACK”.

Darn’dest coincidence if you ax me.

  1. Seriously….. You spoke with Mec-Gar and that’s all of the info you have???? You’re a waste of a SHOT Show pass.

  2. Why is everyone running scared? This gun ban bullshit will pass over after awhile like everything else the government does. The Brady Bill passed and then it was over with. So will this Obama bullshit. Four (more) years of this son of a bitch. I still am in shock that he got re-elected. Voter Fraud Gone Wild !! What is wrong with this country?? If we continue leaning so far over to the left, the earth may tip on its axis. (A joke, just a joke dammit).

      • Or you will. BO can’t do much without Congress and he knows it. That is why he will be parading innocent kids who have been brainwashed by their anti-gun parents to think that all guns not held by State-sanctioned stormtroopers are bad. BO hopes to sway public opinion with his theatrical shit.

  3. I just got off the phone with a manager at Walmart who orders ammo. I had put in a special order and she got back to me to tell me that there is a hold on ordering any ammo except hunting ammo.

I thought this might just be Walmart thing, but the manager told me that she just had someone come in from a gun store and buy up all the ammo saying that the there was a 12 week block on him ordering ammo for his store too from his regular distributors.

Something is up. I am not sure what… but something has already started.

    • And so begins the Conspiracy theories. You know, my brother who has a friend who met a guy on the Internet who works for a large ammo company told him that men in black suits driving black cars showed up at his company and started shutting down the ammo making machines. Said they had orders from the secret UN gunban committee whose chairman is, by the way Barak Obama.

  4. When you know there is “in coming” you hunker down behind whatever cover you can till the shelling is over. I think it’s because magazine manufacturers are sold out of stock, but with “in coming fiat decrees” they don’t know what will be allowed in the future (Re: New York’s new laws) so they are hunkering down till at least the shells land. Same with ammo. If internet sales are decreed “Verboden” the volume that they will be able to distribute will be significantly reduced. More so if a quantity limit or onerous background check for cartridges is instituted. Hell, who knows if they will deem .223/5.56 safe for us to have access to. In short, like us, they are waiting for Barry’s other shoe(s) to drop.

    • You know, I clicked through on this article ready to express my outrage at Chris Dumm failing to ask about resupply.

Now that I think about it, it makes a ton of sense that magazine makers who aren’t protected by having a large mil/LE business would hold back on new production until there’s some clarity on the Federal initiatives. I wouldn’t want to sink operating capital into making & packaging 50,000 11-round mags right before an immediate-effect 10-round restriction got rammed through both House and Senate.

  5. I worked at a McD’s in college because it was in walking distance from my dorm. We actually did run out of fries and burger patties one night after a hometown football game. Holy crap did that suck.

  6. I asked. They’re making more. In Italy.

And if tomorrow’s executive orders include a ban on the importation of normal-capacity magazines (as we expect they will) then all these Italian magazines will stay in Italy until Mec-Gar can ship them to some country other than the U.S.

They have no U.S. supply (which is all we care about) and there’s a strong possibility that they won’t be able to import any more.

    • So that just means they need to setup shop stateside. Obama is issuing these executive orders so magazine manufacturers bring jobs to the US. It’s brilliant! Please the grabbers and fix the economy in one fell swoop.
      ::slow clap::

  7. McDonald french fries used to be delicious until they changed their recipe some years ago.

My cousins knew the first corporate lawyer that McDonalds hired back in the early days. The man was leaving a restaurant with other business men before work and a bird pooped on his sport coat. On the way home to get a new sport coat he read a newspaper want ad about a growing firm looking for a full time attorney. He applied and got the job with McDonalds as legal counsel.

  8. A little over two years later and I stopped by to let you all know that it is OK to come out now. The good news is that it’s safe and you can get magazines again.

The bad news is that you are NOT going to profit from those $3,000 ARs you are hoarding.
