Back in March, Motor City Madman Ted Nugent endorsed Mitt “My Son Owns Two Shotguns” Romney. According to The Texas Tribune, the Nuge exacted a pledge from the Mittster: he wouldn’t sign any new gun laws if was elected President (Romney, not Nugent). Done. And then Ted had an NRAgasm, calling for President Obama’s head on a pike (not quite paraphrasing). As msnbc reports above, the presumptive republican nominee has distanced himself from the artist whose song “Kiss My Glock” became an instant folk classic. Or not. At the same time, the Secret Service has promised to investigate Nugent’s not-so-veiled threat against the Commander in Chief. I’d like to be at Ted’s Ranch when the SS shows up with a search warrant. Again, or not.
I like the Nuge and his excellent taste in guitars. I wish everyone would tone it down a little.
Nuge has always been over the top. This time, he went too far.
Couldn’t disagree more… He did not go too far. People are way too sensitive nowadays. I love his enthusiasm, and passion on his conservative views. It may be “politically incorrect” the wording he chose, but he is not a politician. Anyone who watches Ted’s seminars/interviews would know that what he said was not threatening, like people who see clips of his interviews that the ridiculous media show trying to make people think it was a threat. He is over the top, and very passionate, and it shows through his outspoken personality and choice of words… I love it!
I agree with what he stands for completely, but as stated above, his comments were “not-so-veiled threats” is that is too far.
Meh, his “not-so-veiled threats” were more aimed at a complete tyrannical government, and if tyranny struck America, that we really can’t just sit back and let it happen. The Secret Service is now looking into these harmless comments. Why are they not looking into the comment’s of the New Black Panther party, who put a bounty on the head of an American citizen? Or our lead law enforcement official sending guns illegally to the Mexican drug cartel? The latter two are being overlooked, which is insane!
Probobly becuase it’s not their job.
But why aren’t they mowing my lawn??
Seriously, if you don’t see that what the Nuge did was wrong, that he’s moonbat crazy, and that he does far more harm than good for his cause then there’s simply no hope for ya. This country is made up with a lot of people with a lot of different viewpoints, and a good way to convince them to stay away from your point of view is to tell them you agree with a has been that’s threatening to kill the president if he gets reelected.
Wait, when did he threaten to kill the president? You are horribly misinformed.
@ Jared: +1
It was a purposely ambiguous statement that could be taken that way. That’s just what the loud mouth wants.
Was it a real threat, no. Ted is no more a threat to Obama than he was to those Viet Cong fighters in the late 60s.
Touche.
Sorry Rabbi and Jared, but this exchange reminded me too much of the FUTURAMA election episode….
John Jackson: “It’s time someone had the courage to stand up and say: I’m against those things that everybody hates.”
Jack Johnson: “Now, I respect my opponent. I think he’s a good man. But quite frankly, I agree with everything he just said.”
John Jackson: “I say your three cent titanium tax goes too far.”
Jack Johnson: “And I say your three cent titanium tax doesn’t go too far enough.”

Are his views on having sex with minors conservative? Oh, I guess that is me just being PC. Sorry.
I dunno; did he ever say what he thinks about having sex with ’em? I sure haven’t heard any of his comments on the issue before, but I don’t regularly follow the guy.
If you’re talkin’ ’bout the 17-year-old he was involved with, that’s a full year over the age of consent in Hawai’i – still technically a “minor” in the sense that one can’t vote but at definitely past the point where knockin’ boots is illegal.
From the VH1 “Behind the Music” show on Ted he stated “It could have been whiskey; it could have been drugs; but no, I was a wang dang addict. I mean I was addicted to girls. Addicted. It was hopeless. It was beautiful.” And a bit later he talks about charming the girl’s parents; “I got the stamp of approval from their parents because they figured better Ted Nugent than some drug-infested punk in high school” ( I transcribed this from the documentary, so forgive any error I might have made).
Two points on his “adopted” girlfriend: the first is that since she toured with him at seventeen, some states have 18 as the legal age for sex–the second is that I do not see sex with an underage girl as conservative. It is great that he is strongly anti-drug and pro-hunting, but let’s not make him out to be anything more than a good guitar player who supports the 2nd.
I always thought Nugent was a fool, and this is just one more episode. In response to a question about a spotted owl living near one of his favorite hunting spots, he said he would “kill it and grill it.” He said it to make a point about political correctness, but after he said it, someone went out and shot the owl.
People who are famous spokesmen for the NRA bear some responsibility for their words. Threatening to kill endangered species is not a crime, but it is irresponsible. (The owl never did anything to hurt you.)
Threatening to kill a person is actually a crime. I don’t want to see him locked up, but I wish the NRA would pick some better spokesmen.
I think Ted make good point want have your gun rights vote for them. If want be screw over four years with Obama take way gun rights still have Doj screwing the pooch do not vote let Obama keep white house. When can not buy semi auto rifle semi auto handgun or ammo you may want think of this that all ready happen in state California. How people in state California lost alot there gun rights becuase they did vote keep them. It was to late get them back after lost them.
what?
English may not be his native tongue.
He has the same communication problem Ted has. Its hard for them to talk with their heads that far up their butts.
The SS shows up, Ted struts out a few ladies, should be a good time for all.
High fives all around! Party time!
I think it’s rather fitting that the President’s thugs use the same abbreviation as Hitler’s thugs……
The Secret Service seems to have lost just a few of its operatives recently. Personally, I don’t see why federal agents should get into trouble for doing to Colombian hookers what POTUS has been doing to America for almost four years.
4 years?! PsOTUS have been doing damage for a lot longer than that. Both Rs and Ds have VERY messy hands.
Mitt is is just a Wussy.
The secret service have done this before. They just got caught this time.
I’ve never been a fan of his music, but I think I’ll have to develop a taste for it. He may be over the top, but at least his heart’s in the right place. Compared to a lot of the rhetoric from the far left side of the blogosphere, Ted’s rant was downright tame. As I read today, the Secret Service is keeping one eye on the Nuge, and the other out for hookers. . .
More over-sensitive crying from the left, and the SS trying to intimidate citizens. Though, what do you expect from government thugs who now have a duty to arrest citizens for practicing their first amendment rights thanks to O’s latest bit of tyranny?
Anyone with a brain can see what Nuge meant…though, I suppose that does exclude most leftists. Of course, those same leftists will be cheering when one of their ilk makes a violent threat, same as ever.
I see exactly what I think he meant;
If Obama is re-elected, and passes anti-gun legislation like Ted thinks he will, Ted wont abide by it, he won’t “turn in his guns”, and he’ll go down fighting If they come for them.
I can’t say I would do anything different, and anyone acting like he was threatening the president is over-reacting a bit I think.
FLAME DELETED
I do agree that pretending he was actually threatening anybody is ridiculous.
Let’s see, Republican or conservative makes inflammatory statement and it is the end of the world, front page and national news. A Dem or liberal does it and gets laughs or applause, guests on late night talk shows and nary a peep in the main stream media.
Yeah, I’m not too upset about this, even more so coming from lets edit it like we want it nbc and the today show.
Honestly, instead of chopping off their heads he should have said crush their face!
Yes, only conservatives are attacked. I cannot believe that witch Hilary Rosen got away with saying that Ann Romney has never worked a day in her life. Double standard GD media.
Shucks, am I the only guy who found his statement to be ostensibly ambiguous? “Dead or in jail” doesn’t mean “I’m gonna whack POTUS,” it means “dead or in jail” – could be because you decided to just drive off a cliff, shoot a bunch of guns off in the air until SWAT came a knockin’, get disruptive at political events, whatever.
What he likely meant and what he could’ve meant are two different things, and as far as I’m concerned his comments were veiled enough – though not by much. No law breaking here.
Inexplicable Obama hatred always has racism at its core. That’s a fact.
Ya’ know some days I wake up and I say. “I’d really like to hear some bullshit today.” I was supporting Herman Cain because I think it’s finally time America had a real black president. The only thing I like about Obama is the simple fact that he’s a black guy who managed to get elected president in spite of being totally unqualified for the the job.
trolololol
that is the most racist statement I have read in a long time
Then what, pray tell, is at the core of legitimate criticism of an administration that promised a new era of transparency in government, yet condoned (via inaction) the words, “You need to pass this bill to find out what’s in it”?
FLAME DELETED Site your source.
Threatening the President of the United States is a class D felony under United States Code Title 18, Section 871. It consists of knowingly and willfully mailing or otherwise making “any threat to take the life of, to kidnap, or to inflict bodily harm upon the President of the United States”.
That being said I guess it is up to interpretation whether or not he really threatened or made statements to have others kill the president. People get upset, and passionate about things. I don’t know since I am not a lawyer if this went to far, but it wasn’t hard to put two and two together here.
If you gather your information solely from ABC/CNN/New York Times reports, then I could see how his comments would be questionable to you. If you gather your information directly from the source, and base your opinions on facts, you would see that they are harmless.
I have been following all of Ted’s interviews/seminars/speeches lately, and by doing so I can easily come to the conclusion that his comment’s were harmless.
After this whole Trayvon/Zimmerman mess, now this, not to mention the vacant response by the media to the Fast & Furious scandal… I am really starting to hate the media, and distrust everything I hear until I do my own research, find the FACTS, and THEN make my own opinions.
Yes, Uncle Ted’s big toe was on the other side of, “the line”. But I‘m also very tired of being told where that line is. Strange, I know.
I love me some Sig Sauer and Ted Nugent. Both bark And bite.
Mitt Romney has five sons. He has five daughters-in-law. He has zero son-in-laws.
What is it with this blog insisting on attacking Romney? Obama better for you? My understanding is every gun law he allowed to pass had the blessing of the NRA.
FLAME DELETED
It was a joke. I’ll make it less obscure.
“My understanding is every gun law he allowed to pass had the blessing of the NRA.”

So, we agree that the NRA has not always had gun owners’ best interests in mind?
