M+M Industries’ M10X is a bit of a hybrid, borrowing design aspects from the AK-47, AR-15, and FAL. Externally it looks most like an AK, but it sports many modern touches — monolithic upper receiver, floated barrel, AR-style ambi safety, ambi charging handle, adjustable gas valve, 5/8-24 barrel threads, hinged lower so the rifle opens up like an AR, and 95% of its parts are black nitrided. Speaking of parts, it has even less parts than an AK-47. Oh, and it’s 100% made in the USA from US-made parts. T&E request has been made. More photos follow . . .

    • The stock looks FAL to me. Other than that, I’m not sure, I’m not that familiar with FALs.

      • The stock is the Magpul Zhukov stock for the AK. I’m missing the FAL part too, but I’m also not too familiar with the FAL

      • Possibly internals. It isn’t all AK inside there. The trigger pack is, but I believe the bolt and carrier and recoil spring system and such are unique. Plus the adjustable gas block is something the FAL had.

    • Breakdown looks FALish…

To be fair, it’s closer to a modernized 550 series in 7.62×39.

  1. Reciprocating charging handle directly on the bolt carrier – lightweight, simple, serves as the charging handle, the foward assist, and the case deflector. No extra chunk of metal, no shenanigan mechanism, no weird malfunction

    A worthy trade off

    • Leghorn is gonna hate it though and he is the most likely candidate for the review.

Edit: I was wrong, it looks like Joe Grine will be reviewing it as per his comments below.

      • I had secured one for review from M+M but it looks like JG has been playing with one for a while already. His is the Elite and I was going to borrow a Zhukov, but other than the stock I’m not sure what differences there are. If there are enough of them I’ll go ahead and borrow the Zhukov still, but if it’s just furniture I may pass. Either way, JG always does amazingly comprehensive and fair reviews and I’m looking forward to reading it myself!

  2. Can anyone recommend a good, cheap 7.62×39 platform? (besides SKS…looking for something more modern). I’m tired of AR15s and like to get something to feed with cheap 7.62×39. Most AKs are $700+

    Is there a good alternative?

  3. Not sure how you shrink the parts count on an AK platform, but congrats if they did it.

    • Where did you see that?

The only price I saw on their (mobile) website was $1550-$1600 for US or Cali versions via online purchase to your dealer.

They aren’t yet listing the Zhukov version for sale, just the Elite (non-folding stock)

  4. I want this to succeed but have a nagging feeling that it won’t measure up.

    • Same. I also want to see a review of it- I have a feeling it may end up a bit of a rarity in a few years, unless they can bring the price down.

    • Review in the works. Spoiler alert- its extremely accurate. My best three shoot group is one ragged hole at 50 yards.

    • I believe some are trying to get it brought into Canada, it is not exactly guaranteed but it isn’t a definite no either so it will likely be successful here if it can be imported.

  5. I’m in if it’s less than $1k and if it’s lighter (even by a little) than my Ruger SR556, unloaded of course. Because of that heffalump, I built regular DI AR15 SBRs.

  6. It was shown off at Shot 2015. They’re a number of vids on it out there. It really looks like the stole the 7.62 version of the Sig 556, not that that’s bad. Looks cool.
