At 23, Missouri’s age for a concealed carry permit is the highest in the nation. That appears about to change. For the better. If you can be a Marine and drink a beer, there’s no reason you can’t responsibly carry a firearm—just not all at the same time. On the last day of the legislative session Friday, both chambers voted by veto-proof majorities to lower the age to 21. The overwhelming margins were 125-25 in the house and 27-6 in the senate. Governor Jay Nixon hasn’t indicated whether he’ll sign the bill or not, most likely assessing whether he’s willing to placate urban Dems in KC and St. Louis at the political cost (if there is one) of a likely override. Look for him to sign it into law.
Proud to be a Missourian…
Since I’m 63, I’d go along with raising the CCW age to, say, 62 3/4. That would be fair, right?
And raise it by 1 year annually Ralph?
Damn, you’re good. I never thought of that!
