Long frustrated by their inability to get much action in Washington, D.C., Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America branched out to the states in an effort to score. A win, that is. Unfortunately for the Demanding Moms, they will remain frustrated in Oklahoma as they have failed to gather enough signatures to put Oklahoma’s new Constitutional Carry law up for a vote.

They needed 60,000 John or Jane Hancocks. But the Moms, led by a Democrat Oklahoma State Rep. named Jason Lowe (couldn’t they find an actual mom to lead them?), failed miserably.

Spectacularly, in fact. By their own admission, they may have had as few as half the required number of signatures. And the petitions they circulated hadn’t even been subject to scrutiny to verify the signatures they did manage to get as legitimate.

From KFOR:

In a court filing on Thursday, an attorney for the group estimates they gathered between 30,000 and 50,000 signatures.

They would have needed nearly 60,000 signatures from registered voters to qualify the question for the ballot.

Attorney Brian Ted Jones says one reason for the uncertainty is because supporters were dropping off signatures right up until the Aug. 29 deadline.

Led by Democratic state Rep. Jason Lowe and the gun safety group Moms Demand Action, supporters say they were prompted to act after two mass shootings last month.

Looks like the Moms came up short. In a state of almost four million people, they couldn’t even manage 60,000 signatures of gun control supporters. Gun control in Oklahoma must be very unpopular if Moms Demand Action couldn’t even get one in every 65 people in the state to support gun control.

  1. So yeah I’m pleased they lost this time.

Doesn’t matter, we are still losing this political fight over the long run.

    • Okay, Debbie Downer, you can lie down and take a nap while the rest of us gratefully celebrate the win and prepare for the next battle.

The famous “3 Percenters” will keep fighting to get the job done. If you want to be in the other 97%, move aside and make room for someone else.

    • @ Myron Tepe

Speaking of Maine, the most recent numbers are in and Leftists Said Maine’s Permitless Carry Law Would Cause Chaos. Now It’s the Safest State in US followed by Vermont and New Hampshire all of which have Constitutional carry.

Leftists Said Maine’s Permitless Carry Law Would Cause Chaos. Now It’s the Safest State in US

      https://www.westernjournal.com/leftists-said-maines-permitless-carry-law-cause-chaos-now-safest-state-us/

Just as the news article above relates, gun control supporters argue that the gun
control laws they promote make the public safer. They argue laws supporting
private citizen use and ownership endangers the public.

Consider this violent crime data from 2016-2017, the last full year for which the
      FBI has published statistics.

This data is for violent crimes per 100,000 residents in each of the states and
the ranking of that state. Three New England states rank lowest in the USA.

      Rank #48 NH 198.7
      Rank #49 VT 165.8
      Rank #50 ME 121.0

The above three New England states have among the least restrictive gun laws in
the nation. Yet, year after year, they are the three lowest violent crime rate states.

Now take a look at the FBI violent crime rates for the other three New England States:

      CT 228.0
      RI 232.2
      MA 358.0

These three New England states have some of the most restrictive gun control laws
      in this country.

Let’s throw in the State of NY 356.7 violent crimes per 100,000 residents.

All in the same area of the country, many border each other and yet the gun rights
supporting states continuously are among the safest states in nation per FBI statistics.

If gun control laws make citizens safe, please explain the above FBI crime statistics.

      • @Green Mtn. Boy – While you are not wrong in your statistics, there is also one glaringly missing statistic in there that states like ME, VT and NH all have in common that contribute to their low crime rates. And, it has nothing to do with guns. I will let you figure that out on your own. 🙂

    • Only because we have too many idiots who think immigration is a good thing. All immigration has been bad for America.

      • Like your ancestors? Or did you just magically spring from the ground, oh wait i think that’s where trolls do come from.

    • We aren’t losing. We are winning over all. Don’t let any little set back scare you. Long term ( 10 year ) are looking good for us in polling. Court cases are going our way.

Hell the antis have given up trying to ban handguns. It’s illegal under heller. In the 70s and 80s they wanted to ban handguns !

  2. Another win for those of us in flyover country. Someone needs to point this out to the weak-kneed Republicans in the House and the Senate. There is no need to fear these idiots as they have little real support, they demand so little of their members that they don’t even require dues, not even five bucks each!

  3. Nobody wants more gun control. Nobody wants gun bans. Nearly every house in America has a gun.

A couple of billionaires and their paid stooges are the entirety of the gun control movement in America.

Watch the meltdown when Trump gets re-elected in 2020. The billionaires will have to clean house if they wish to continue. It will be fun to watch.

    • “Watch the meltdown when Trump gets re-elected in 2020.”

      ****
I’m actually gearing up to watch as much meltdown as possible. After skewing search results and defrauding the masses thru TWO election cycles, and still losing, their little heads will explode. And then we’ll see things from them we still haven’t even seen yet.

      • I still watch the ‘In The Hall of The Mountain King, Trump version’ Ever so often just for the laughs. And if you ever needed proof of the corruption of the media this highlights it.

        • LOL, an excellent suggestion with which to round out the weekend. I just watched it again myself right now. And for the rest of the class:

  4. They cant even get 10 people to show up at an event they hadn’t paid to show up.
Who would expect Mommies who bud in Everything to get 60,000 signatures???

  5. Problem was, they didn’t hire a Chicago ‘consultant’. They woulds have had dead people on the list like all politicians do here. They’re so bold here, Minney Mouse and Mickey have been on some lists.

  6. Poor demanding Commie mommy’s,all they were trying to do was prevent the U S Constitution from being in effect, hope their Feelz aren’t hurt too bad, like hell I do as Constitutional carry is the law of the land.

    • Agreed, and these wins for the anti-gun side will continue to grow while our leaders continue to fight the political battle on the terms created by our opposition. It is a plan to lose over the long term.

  7. The problem is they will just try again, and again, and again… they just have to win once… we have to win every time.

    • We need to change the nature of the argument from guns to human behavior. That would require proposing legislation at every level to return to an extensive public mental health system paid for by taxpayers.

That is only par of it, and it is expensive. If we do not do it we will eventually lose everything. If we do it, we will “out-liberal” the liberals. Something few conservatives are willing to do.

      • Exactly right, but very difficult to do. It is your culture and your character that determine your behavior and in the end that’s what matters.

  8. Here is a link every decent American can use to send a message so easy with a few clicks and a prewritten letter(if needed) to all GOP Senators & Trump to stop this illegal gun control! This week the threat is real and the anti-gun house will likely pass several gun control bills and scream the sky is falling! They will call Trump and the Senate all kinds of names if they don’t pass their commie like gun control!

    https://gunowners.org/alert082119/

  9. It’s simple, a bunch of red shirted clueless hens running around making unpleasant noise has zero appeal. Hey moms, stay at home, make sandwiches, clean the toilet like good little hens and leave the important stuff to people with actual brains.

  10. The nature of a “win” or a “loss” in a legislature or a court is that it is always reversible. All that is required is for enough of a population to be emotionally charged up to demand a change, for long enough period of time.

This is what happens with shootings either in groups and singularly. The opposition yearns for a simple answer and so ignores the human element and set their emotions upon the gun. Our side is little different, fighting the political battle upon the oppositions terms.

What our side desperately needs to do is change the nature of the argument from the gun to the person. What this means is a number of measures applied nation-wide all at once.

A return to the large scale mental health system we had forty years ago, but tore down to large degree. Never again should there be cases where no help was available for the like of the Tucson shooter and the Sandy Hook shooter. Take the path of disrupting the evolution of the mentally ill into the rare example of a dangerous and deadly ending. Remember that this used to be the case, again, forty and more years ago.

Embracing the concept of violence as a communicable disease and a public health matter. For an example of what this means look up the organization CUREVIOLENCE.ORG.

Applying broadly the methods of Early Detection, Threat Assessment and Planned intervention. Do this in all schools and large employers.

The pro-Second Amendment leadership does mention this sort of thing in passing. That is far too little, much too late. Every shooting still weakens us, it is not enough to have a “Good Guy With A Gun” take effective action in an attack. The attacks themselves must be prevented, or we still lose in the arena of public outcry.

The way to win on this problem is adopt in a primary way a fully humanist outlook. The root cause and impacts of all violence is found in human behavior. Disrupt those negative behaviors and you remove the root cause of anti-gun sentiment.

This is where we are losing. Each new killing hurts our cause. Each failure to address root causes ignores the path we are on. Which is the eventually loss of rights that will be suffered most likely by our children and grandchildren, rather than by us.

    • “A return to the large scale mental health system we had forty years ago, but tore down to large degree.”

The Leftists will *never* allow that. They will *say* it’s about human rights, but the reality is they *need* the nut-jobs running around murdering people with guns.

Leftists *thrive* in ‘crisis mode’, even if there is no crisis. Like right now. Gun deaths down 50 percent, yet they claim violence is skyrocketing. A crisis gives them political power to exploit. They have to be seen as the ones on a white horse saving the day.

And the media is expressly complicit in spreading the lie of “Something must be done about guns!”…

    • There are over 370 “mental disorders” listed in the latest version of the DSM (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders.) The list includes “Tobacco Addiction Disorder” among other equally mundane and ridiculous so-called “mental illnesses.”
If the DSM is the standard by which politicians wishes to remove our rights to own guns, then I’d guess 90% of the American people could probably be classified with a mental disorder of one kind or another.
      BEWARE, BEWARE

  11. “..estimates they gathered between 30,000 and 50,000 signatures.”

    Estimates?

The pictures shows the guy standing in front of big piles of paper! Do they not have even one intern they can set to actually counting them?

  12. Just to point this out….ICYMBI……..David Hogg was interviewed on one of the left wing/democrat news programs…our local radio host, Dan Proft, pointed out that Hogg used the massacre at Wounded Knee to push gun control……what Hogg didn’t understand? The massacre happened when the U.S. government went into the Lakota Camp…..to confiscate their guns….and when they resisted, the shooting started….https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wounded_Knee_Massacre

On the morning of December 29, the U.S. Cavalry troops went into the camp to disarm the Lakota. One version of events claims that during the process of disarming the Lakota, a deaf tribesman named Black Coyote was reluctant to give up his rifle, claiming he had paid a lot for it.[7] Simultaneously, an old man was performing a ritual called the Ghost Dance. Black Coyote’s rifle went off at that point, and the U.S. army began shooting at the Native Americans. The Lakota warriors fought back, but many had already been stripped of their guns and disarmed.[8]

  13. tired of these woemen.
They want some action, then they should hang out on the street corner.
    Good Ok!

  14. “Constitutional Carry” though is a loosely defined term that even the most knowledgeable gun rights advocates cannot agree upon. Thus it is not enough to state the intent of the bill

  15. Why do you think the democrat party supports gun control, because it is dangerous for their supporters!
{B&E specialists, smash and grab artists, illegals, hate mongering Muslims, Antifa etc!} might loose more voters that way! democrat politicians have no moral or ethical values!

  16. I am a life member of the NRA. I love America and our ideals. i served in the armed forces of the United States of America, But, all Americans must admit, we, the people, have a problem. We cannot have individuals – or groups – murder members of the populace. In our cities are routine killing; and mass murders have become common.
Something must be done, and something will be done. Shall those who have the most to lose not write at least part of the solution?

Universal background checks. I say yes. And it is coming. Will it be streamlined, fair, efficient, fast, and free? So-called “assault” weapons: All semi-autos could be considered assault. The anti-gun people do not know this and have not found out. Why not raise the age for buying a firearm to 21; and to 25 for a semi-auto with the requirement that 3 written recommends be necessary as to character and competency? We need funding for an additional 5,000 FBI agents. We need every American to alert and have situational awareness. See something (anywhere), say something.

Together, we will get through these times.

    God Bless America

    • “..But, all Americans must admit, we, the people, have a problem. ”

OK, so there’ s a problem. How come all that stuff you suggested does nothing to address the problem we are supposed to admit we have?

  17. The proposal I submitted does not infringe on 2nd Amendment rights. No guns are banned, No lessening of magazine capacity. No legal gun holder loses their weapons. And we get greater control over who is disturbing the peace. What we should not want is to dig in so much that the clowns cause the opposite thinkers to go to extreme measures if they come into power. WE MUST THINK.
