Back in 2007, country music legend Billy Joe Shaver shot and wounded one Billy Coker outside Papa Joes’s bar near Lorena, Texas. Shaver claimed the shooting was self-defense. In April, a jury acquitted the 70-year-old country artist of aggravated assault. This week, the court addressed posession charges related to Shaver’s .22-caliber pistol. After Shaver pleaded no contest, the judge fined him $1,000 and told him to surrender the damn gun (or words to that effect).
