Unfortunately, YouTube yanked the previous version of this video. This version cuts out just as MSNBC motormouth Joe Scarborough starts prattling on about his support for the Supreme Court’s Heller decision. What’s He Smokin’ Joe defends Americans’ right to keep “a gun in my house” (as opposed to anywhere else). He goes on to rail against Cruz’s condescension—and then condescendingly claims he cuts slack for people who interpret the 2A differently than he does because “unlike me, they haven’t been reading case law for 20 or thirty years.” But the bottom line: Scarborough and Co. reckon the federal Assault Weapons Ban (AWB) is dead on arrival. Fingers crossed there’s no AR-involved atrocity to change that equation. And that the Supremes throw out state AWBs ASAP.
Keep writing and calling your legislators. It ain’t over ’till the fat lady sings, and she hasn’t even cleared her throat yet.
It ain’t over even then. They’ll try sliding something in 6 months after it all blows over because less people will be paying attention. Or they’ll attach something to some omnibus spending bill that they need to pass “for the children.”
“The price of liberty is eternal vigilance.”
We still need to worry about magazine capacity limits and Schumer’s S. 374: “Fix Gun Checks Act of 2013”. That would criminalize almost all private firearm sales, even temporary transfers and loans.
FEWER people. Your printer cartridge has LESS INK than it did a month ago, but you don’t know by how much. People are countable, thus “fewer”. This stuff can take you far if you’re willing to learn the difference.
Error. the YouTube account associated with this video has been Terminated!
Big surprise!
As someone who’s been reading the case law for 30 or 40 years, I’d say that Joe knows precisely d!ck.
The first question that popped to my mind, no knowing this character, is whether he is a lawye, and whether he has read and understood case law? He doesn’t sound like a lawyer–if there ain’t at least two sides to every argument, someone ain’t lawyerin’!
I’d say the liberals and especially His Majesty aren’t too worried about the AWB passing. They’ve got the UN Treaty coming up, which of course they haven’t mentioned recently.
Supposedly thats not a gun ban treaty, rather an arms shipping treaty & member states can have their own arms laws. OK, thats the theory, when the fresh prince of bel aire & the queen of sheba gets at it we will need to dig our heels in, Randy
Irrelevant. Ratifying a treaty in the Senate takes a two-thirds majority.
I used to watch Morning Joe regularly but when he started calling us the survivalist wing of the NRA and equating ownership of so-called “assault weapons” and standard capacity magazines with drunk drivers and smokers, no more.
In a related story: “Hitler Loved Jews”
I can’t believe ol’ nutty Joe – the other one – would embarrass himself like that.
Better to stay silent etc….. Cruz is on more than solid ground and these pathetic attempts to intimidate him I’m sure will more than fail.
His point is something that started in the academic community a few years ago with the publication of an article in the Yale Law Journal by Sanford Levinson entitled “The Embarrassing Second Amendment” which brought out the very concerns that Cruz asked about. What if we treated the favorite Amendments of the Libs & Moderates with the same contempt as we do the 2nd?
A very good question and evidently one that makes the establishment so nervous that they can think of no answer for Cruz Control except their usual bluster, personal attacks and pitch to emotion.
Score this a home run!
Like Robert said, it ain’t over ’til it’s over.
In this case with these holier than thou confiscation determined extreme anti 2A Democrats the battle will never truly be over.
The ONLY legitimate method to change the 2A is through another Amendment to the US Constitution. But these liberal gun grabbing extremists know that they will never garner the support to get a counter amendment ratified by enough states to become law. So they use the underhanded approach. If they can’t accomplish their goals at the federal level, they will pursue them at the state level as they have and continue to do right now in Kalifornia, New York, Illinois, and to a lesser extent in Colorado and other states where there is a Democrat run government.
This fight may never end.
This is no time to rest or stop or accept compromise. We need all bills in all states and at the federal level to die.
Until then we need not rest or go back to sleep thinking all will be right with the world.
The administration kicked a hornets neat with this one. We need to stick together, support people like Cruz or Paul, who will ask the hard questions and demand answers. I would expect no less from any descent politician. The fact only a hand full are like that speaks for itself.
This isn’t about guns, even though it is. It is about liberty and our rights as Ameticans. Cruz was dead on, if they take away one, then the rest will surely fall in due course.
All those who want to believe MSNBC “just this one time”, please raise your hands.
* crickets *
Dear Talking Heads: Are you aware of the Dred Scot decision, among many others? The Supreme Court gets things wrong from time to time. But Cruz comes on to explain how wrong the MSNBC people are, even in the context of Heller.
Ted Cruz might be familiar with the Heller case…
From wiki:
In the landmark case of District of Columbia v. Heller, Cruz drafted the amicus brief signed by attorneys general of 31 states, which said that the D.C. handgun ban should be struck down.[18] Cruz also presented oral argument for the amici states in the companion case to Heller before the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.
The good Senator refuted, in a terse statement about HELLER, the incredible mass of hot air, devoid of any substance, offered by the over-caffinated Joe.
I only wish he had emphasized that HELLER showed that MILLER specifically concerned the protection of the “right of the people to keep and bear ” arms useful for military purposes. The objections of the gun-grabbers to “military style” AR-15s in civilian hands would only serve to assure the Miller court “that this weapon is any part of the ordinary military equipment [and] that its use could contribute to the common defense”, and therefore a type of weapon the people have the right to keep and bear under the 2nd Amendment.
Knocking on wood regarding that last sentence.
Scarborough is a sellout-he must be getting it on with Alex Wagner or something-he has the lowest scum like Donnie Deutsch on regularly-Deutsch muttered on one show-“we gotta get the guns”right out in the open-that is why I watch that crap channel from time to time. They aren’t even careful about what they say regarding their evil plans for America.-MSNBC is the most vile collection of scum in the media.
