The quote of the day is presented by Guns.com.

HuffPo is outraged — OUTRAGED! — that the president has dropped any mention of gun control measures. They attribute this, of course, to cynical political calculation and deals made with the NRA. As the subhead of the article notes, Trump “has made it clear that his priority is getting reelected….”

As if that hasn’t been the number one goal of every elected office holder in the history of the world ever.

Sebastian Murdock apparently can’t adequately process the fact that while it seemed President Trump and more than a few Republicans were susceptible to being lured into support of some kind of support for background check and red flag bills, that all went down in flames with the beginning of the House impeachment inquiry.

In September, Trump said he didn’t want “crazy people” having such easy access to guns, indicating that he might support stronger background checks. But he tempered that by saying there were no concrete measures he was considering that he was willing to share with reporters, and predictably blamed Democrats should these hypothetical non-measures fail to pass.

“It depends on if Democrats want to take your guns away,” Trump said. “If this is a movement by the Democrats to take your guns away, it’s never going to happen.”

Still, there was hope that lawmakers on both sides of the aisle could get something done. Attorney General Bill Barr was on Capitol Hill in September talking to Senate Republicans about expanding background checks for gun sales. But now that Trump is facing impeachment, talks are off.

“President Trump quietly moved gun control to the side and let it be replaced by breaking news,” Dan Eberhart, a major GOP donor, told The Washington Post.“I suspect that was the plan all along.”

  1. You still don’t get it, do you? WE are the majority, which will become very obvious next November!

      • I’ve already advised”The Donald” that the #1 priority this year should be ferreting out and destroying voter fraud!😈

        • I think the registered voter lists need to be audited and cross checked with IRS and Social Security to verify if the person has either lodged a tax return or collected a welfare payment in the last 6-12 months.

The Democrats definitely won’t agree to this because it would remove a significant proportion of their voters.

      • Are we the majority? I feel reading responses online to this site, Fox News, daily mail etc that as a whole we couldn’t argue our way out of a wet paper bag.

I wasn’t going to vote for trump (Bump stocks) this election until the Democrats made gun control their central argument. Now he seems the lesser of two evils, just like last election and I’m planning to vote for him.

If the only thing that brings us together is that the other guys are worse, we have no longevity, because all they have to do is bring in someone slightly less worse.

So seriously… what makes the Republican Party better? Instead of just not worse?

Push for constitutional carry, HPA, decreased government regulation on every day life, decreased taxes, decrease centralized government power, and I’d be an ardent Republican… where have all of our goals gone?

        • Yes, it’s a binary choice.
We’ll worry about the next battle aftre we win the current one.
Facts change after each battle, adjust and continue the fight.

        • Hear that, just keep in mind how long it took to get to this bad place we’re in now. “They” took us here in baby steps, we’re taking grown up steps to bring us back to where we used to be, have a little faith. Have a feeling Trump will help with that goal, unlike the dems, he actually knows how we feel and how we’ll vote.

        • That all equates to quite a bit of faith (frustrated or even the lack of) directed to a particular party. Put faith in the Constitution (atleast as far is politics) and direct your vote towards a people and a party that aligns with that faith as close as possible. If you can.

I don’t see Trump as representing any party. That is a big part of what appeals to me.

        • Liljoe, I agree it’s beyond frustrating, but there are some positives to hope for. For starters like the above poster said, they’ve been baby stepping us into tyranny for a LONG time. Literally over 100 years if you count the start at the Wilson administration, which is where I put it. “Winning” against them is going to take way more then one election and one president. It’s a multi generational, possibly eternal struggle at this point. The Trump victory was no small thing either. I’m disappointed with him on gun control just like with Reagan, but sadly both Trump and Reagan are still the most conservative presidents we’ve had since FDR. We’ve also seen an extraordinary amount of victories at the state level since the 80s with the explosion of open and conceal carry. And gun rights as a movement is actually larger now then it was when I was young. When I was a kid almost no one had handguns, or semi autos, and if someone did it considered weird unless they were a cop. Ironically, the huge influx of commie guns helped change a lot of that. Personally I believe in the last 30 years, our biggest assets have been, importation of huge amounts of cheap combloc guns, the war on terror which created a generation of men more pro gun and more conservative then their parents, call of duty, yes the video game, which made ARs “cool”, and the explosion of compact 9s which made conceal carry easier.

        • Worry not, the wording he used will get his bump stock law overturned by the courts when it gets challenged, he is a sly old fox.

    • They don’t care. They know they’re right. We’re too dumb to know what’s for our own good. We’re destroying the planet (by making it greener). We’re making trannies feel bad by refusing to let them use the girls’ bathroom. We’re forcing young women to face the consequences of their sexual promiscuity by making them bring children into the world (the horror!). We expect people of color to be intelligent enough to get a free government issued ID card or lose their right to vote Democrat. We are Nazis. We must be stopped at any cost. If they could drop an atomic bomb on us they would. Voter fraud is a small price to pay to defeat Hitler. The ends justify the means.

    • Who is “We” and what’s this majority you are seeing? No political party, left or right leaning side has a clear, clean, majority. Trump lost the last election on the popular vote by millions. He won it on the Electoral Vote. Clinton lost and that is good, but she lost with millions more votes than the other moron.

I kinda’ go back and forth on if the Electoral College is a good or bad thing. It protected us from Clinton but injured us with Trump. So it is not an easy call. In eny case it has never worked as The Founders intended.

Back to the majority thing. It is possible that a simple majority of Americans own guns but that does not make them full fledged supporters of the Second Amendment.

        • The ‘EC’ keeps Leftists from steam-rolling elections. Learn to like it… 🙂

      • “I kinda’ go back and forth on if the Electoral College is a good or bad thing.”

Really guys? Y’all want to go to a straight popular vote? You want NYC, Chicago and LA to absolutely dominate the country? There’s a reason why direct democracy was frowned upon by the founders.

        • The Founders were concerned abut the ignorant masses being led into tyranny by a charismatic figure. The Electoral College was to be made up of the most educated and accomplished of citizens. The thinking was that these men would be the check and balance against what they saw as a weakness in the general population.

It has never worked out that way. People vote their whims, personal interests and loyalties no matter their wealth, their poverty, their education or their ignorance.

        • Yes and the EC forces candidates to appeal to a wide margin of American society. Just because voters do what voters always have and always will do doesn’t mean it should be changed. Just because we can’t get a president which personally appeals to you doesn’t mean it should change. If there was no EC, candidates wouldn’t even bother visiting places like Wisconsin, Iowa, Ohio or Tennessee. The big leftist must cities would come to dominate all of the federal government. The dangers of direct democracy are laid out in numerous historical example. You may not like the EC, but tell me an alternative that doesn’t lead to tyranny in 10 years. At least with the EC they’re forced to try to appeal across the entire nation.

        • @ enuf
I’m more concerned about the ignorant masses being led into tyranny by a promise of free stuff. Democracy is a fine idea, until they realize they can vote themself some free shit.

        • The issue isn’t the EC. It’s First Past the Post, requiring people to vote who they think can win over the candidate who they most agree with.

      • The amount of popular vote Hillary exceeded Trump by = the number if illegals who voted.

The electoral college helps states with less population have a less unequal say in things.

More than half the country doesn’t even bother to vote. The half that votes is split more or less 50/50 with the independents rocking back and forth.

But with immigration being unchecked it will soon be the case that low IQ 3rd worlders will outnumber actual Americans and their voting patterns indicate that it will soon be impossible to elect anyone right of Bernie Sanders.

Vote for Trump and buy yourself 4 more years to lay in canned food and shotguns.

        https://youtu.be/qsMc-IswG3w

Unless he pushes gun control between now and the election, and then all bets are off.

        • What a head-in-the-sand comment, enuf. Cultural displacement (look it up) by a population of low IQ, poorly educated, third-world people who lack the intellectual capacity or life experiences to appreciate what freedom and liberty means—and more important what it takes to keep it—is something we should all definitely be concerned about. As a case in point, why do you think the Soviets made a point of moving large populations of Russians into bordering countries like Latvia and Estonia? Scheech. Sometimes this place gives me a headache.

        • enuf. I live and until I retired worked in CA. One job I had, the last before full retirement, was in a warehouse. 90% of the workers were illegals. Including guys making home deliveries. CA issues them drivers licenses.

Before and after the election they talked of and bragged about voting dem. It is a thing here in CA.

          • Beating a dead horse, but I’ll say it again. The dems would never win another election if they had to do it legally!

      • Only thing I disagree with is the Electoral College, it is a good thing and functioned exactly as the founders expected. It is there to protect the whole of the nation from the tyranny of the majority, and it clearly did so in the last election. It is my hope that the voters turn out the Democrats this election, we are still stuck with the ones sent to DC by the slave states, but we could see their majority erased in the House. If not, I see bad things ahead for this country within six to eight years, and as little as I care for Trump if the Democrats steal the 2020 election….

      • Why do you say that the electoral college has never worked as the founders intended? It keeps the entire country from being run by the most populous areas and distributes the electorate more evenly across the states. Otherwise every election would be dictated by New York, Chicago and Los Angeles,…, oh I see clearly now, you want those citadels of blue votes to rule the elections. I bet Demoncrats would be the most stalwart defenders of the electoral college if the more populous urban centers were right leaning.

        • Dems think the electoral college is greatest thing since sliced bread,,,,,when they win! Main plank in the DNC platform is hypocricy.

      • New York City, Las Angeles and Sandiego and San Francisco almost make up the majority popular vote by themselves. Thank God our fore fathers recognized something like this might happen and knew a farmer in Idaho needed something different from his govornment than a Hoolywood movie star so tried to make sure his voice would get heard too, hence the electoral college. Of course they originally wanted the states to have all the power and the federal govornment was to keep a military and defend them if they were attacked but the federal congressmen would have none of that so they came up with a bunch of taxes and told the state if they wanted any of the money to go to their states they had better fall in line and give up their control. I hope you understand this even though I haven’t scratched the head of the nail yet.

  2. He’s gun grabbing leftist must think that Trump’s an idiot. Well actually of course they’ve convinced themselves he’s an idiot. And they probably think you would be stupid enough to sign some gun control.

    F*** that and f*** them

    • Fortunately Trump’s smart enough to know that getting half your base to stay home on election day isn’t the way to get reelected.

Personally, I think Trump just like to punk the Dems. Poke ’em with a stick and see if he can’t get them riled up.

    • True, in the blink of an eye. Trump is loyal only to Trump. Not to America and certainly not to our Constitutionally protected Rights.

      • no say it aint true. You actually think a politician could flip like that? A bumpstock is not s gunm, And lies are facts until proven false

      • Trump isn’t the most ethical person around, not by a long shot, but he’s a patriot (unlike the other side).

        • LMFAO!!!! Trump is a “Patriot”? Oh, that’s a good one! You should do Stand Up on late night talk shows!

Seriously there are patriots on all sides, disagreeing on this and that. But Trump is only patriotic to Trump. No patriot would talk about military leaders and heroes who disagree with him as Trump does. The man is without Honor.

        • Enuf, what’s your point? He’s without honor, he’s “Un presidential”? So what’s your point? Obama was without honor too. I could make a list much longer far then Trumps about the downright disrespectful shit obama did to our military and country. To start off with prioritizing using our military as a social experiment above all else. Releasing several Taliban leaders all of whom returned to prominent roles in the Taliban, as they have experienced a wide resurgence across Afghanistan. As well as releasing ISIS, AQ, and Taliban from GITMO. As well as allowing Iraq to nearly fall to ISIS. As well as pouring tons of weapons, ammo, supplies, and money to various groups across Syria, nearly all of which fell into ISIS hands. As well as abandoning the Kurds in northern Iraq to ISIS. As well as graciously funding Pakistan and Egypt both of whom despise the US. As well as backing down in the face of threats from Putin, Assad, and Xi. Meanwhile the Democrat party is fighting to open the border without any border security what so ever, invite millions of refugees without any kind of checks, and promising to bankrupt the country with socialist healthcare wet dreams. But what did Trump do? Looks pretty tame compared to all that.

      • What are you smoking, I want some. More U.S. citizens are working than ever before, the annual household take home is up by more than $700.00 annualy after falling by over $600.00 anualy under our last president who by his own words didn’t like this country. I wish you had been in my math classes in college, you would have helped lower the grading curve considerably.

  3. What Murdock doesn’t understand is that that……

I DON’T want Trump creating more ‘gun control’!

    • JMHO, but anyone named Murdock usually turns out to be one of the bad guys. Has a sinister sound.

    • dems were never concerned about guns, they just want the control…and yes, they have been obsessing about getting POTUS Trump out of office since he won the election in 2016…

      • There is a reason it is called “Trump Derangement Syndrome” and it has almost totally consumed the Democrats over the last 3 years.

    • Well yeah they are. Which makes very good sense.

If Republican Senators and Representatives had any sense of honor left they would rush Trump’s impeachment, convict him, put Pence in office and get a new Republican VP confirmed ASAP.

      • Why? I really don’t like trump, but I can’t bend my mind enough around these issues to believe he has commuted an impeachable offense.

        Maybe I have no honor.

      • “If Republican Senators and Representatives had any sense of honor left..”

Really? Just what in the hell in your mind is honorable about that? Just what did Trump do that hasn’t been done by literally every president? If your anti trump and pro democrat just come out and say it, because you sure seem like your trying to allude to the democrat agenda without trying to come off as a democrat. This impeachment is an absolute joke. You democrats have been trying to reverse 2016 since it happened, come hell or high water. You tell me what’s more tyrannical, a president with no filter, or an active cabal of government and media elites who are trying to overthrow the will of the people simply because they lost and can’t handle it, so they’re throwing a temper tantrum like the spoiled rich children they are.

      • You make it sound like Trump has done something to warrant impeachment and the republicans just don’t have the spine to call him out on it. You sound more like the Washington left….like Pelosi.

Impeachment doesn’t happen just because someone thinks it should. If that were the case, this nation would not have lasted past the 2nd president.

        • enuf has a really bad case of TDS. He doesn’t care whether crimes were committed or not. He just want Trump gone. One might say enuf has no honor.

      • “…they would rush Trump’s impeachment, convict him, put Pence in office and get a new Republican VP confirmed ASAP.”

        *rolling eyes*

You really don’t understand how things work, do you? We won’t be able to get a conservative confirmed. Here’s why –

Whoever is nominated, *both* houses, lower and upper (Congress and Senate) MUST vote to approve.

Now, you tell me what conservative will a Democrat-controlled House approve of?

        Who?

The answer is NO ONE. They leave the VP position unfilled, and hope Pence drops dead from a heart attack or brain aneurysm.

Then, the House speaker (Pelosi) is the constitutionally-designated POTUS, being next in the line of succession.

Get it, dumbass? Do you want president Pelosi?

        • Geoff, have you read more than 2 of enuf’s comments? He’s not a conservative. He would rather have had pelosi or hillary in the office before Trump.

      • ROTFLMAO.
The cute thing is enuf thinks the leftists won’t pull the same trick on ANYONE that disagrees with them.

    • They got no choice. Take over the press, split the people, destroy the economy, etc. All things a commun ist party needs to do so they can take over a country. Under Trump we are going the wrong way. The economy is booming and people are proud of their country again. The communist party hates his guts because he is setting their cause back.

  4. POTUS Trump doesn’t a damn about “gun control”, he’s got bigger fish to fry, namely, pelosi, nadler, schiff, schumer, just to name a few…

  5. Why should I care what this clown says of thinks. Hell I never heard of him number 1. Secondly If he’s connected to HuffPo. His entire premise for being alive is of little consequence to me. Nuff Said.

  6. Lesser of 2 evils is about all I can say about Drumph. If he thought gun grabs would guarantee reelection he’d do that. It was hilarious seeing the reaction from Fredo’s brother regarding Donnie moving to Floriduh…

    • Exactly, just like you, Possum, and a few others said. There is no perfect president, but we can vote for the least worst.

  7. Elections always are the lesser of 2 evils.
In this case to me the most important issue as was the last election the COURTS people.
The court system has been out of whack in this country for way too long. Trump had done more and gotten more done then any other president to reshape our court system. As the news has finally brought up. The impeachment proceedings isn’t about the Libitards hatred of Trump. Its about him changing the courts. He has added more constitutionalists in the last 3 years. Than any president has in the last 20. These federal judges will be around a long time after some of us are long gone. Just another judge or 2 and Trump will have turned the 9th circuit on its ass and totally turned it around.
The impeachment bullshit is here to try and slow that all down. It wont.

  8. I personally want to thank “Crazy” Nancy Pelosi, Adam “Pencil Kneck” Schiff, and Jerry “Fat Boy” Nadler along with their Clown Posse for removing 2nd Amendment rights elimination from the political agenda. Between them and the Texas Beta Boy you couldn’t have dreamed of a better situation.

    • You’d almost have to wonder if Beta-Boy was a closet Republican who set out to politically damage the Democrats. If he was, he succeeded. If he wasn’t, he has polarized the debates so much the Dems are going into full spin mode until election day.

  9. “Trump’s More Concerned With Reelection Than Gun Control” says the snake who’s more concerned with the welfare of illegal aliens than the well being of actual Americans.

  10. Who is this clown?! He expects him to cooperate with this House of Madness?! If he thinks gun control is that important he should wonder why the Dems are ignoring it?

  11. And there are bipartisan supported bills ready to be voted on that would help America. But Nancy doesn’t want to help America, so she can’t afford to give the American people a win because then she would be giving Trump a win. Nancy doesn’t give a rat’s ass about America. Nancy just wants democrats in control.

  12. His concern should be that of the Constitution,if only he was educated in it for all the name schools he has attended and the Eff with the Huff Po and the Communists that frequent there.

  13. Wasn’t the promise of no more gun control efforts one of the main reasons why Trump got elected? And the reason why the NRA supported Trump’s campaign to the tune of some 50 million dollars?
    Why that surprised face?

  14. I personally think everyone should sit this election out and let them duke it out or use the twenty paces duel on the white house lawn. That of course is a dream that will never happen. But I refuse to vote for a, Commander in Chief of all our military, that was a draft dodger.

    • You might want to check the other choices! I served also, but a draft Dodger looks downright appealing compared to the rest of that freak show.

  15. Trump’s heroism in ‘Nam, coupled with the fact he’s a morally upstanding self made man, make him worthy of our collective awe, deference and respect. MAGA for 1000 years!

    • The futures’ not certain and the end is always near….

“Establishment conservatism” is a myth. Its a made up construct. Just like the idea that gun bans reduce crime.
      ————————————————
      Angry Voter:
Most of what’s on your list has nothing to do with Trump one way or the other and would still be on your list if he never became president. Regardless of what you were voting for.

-black violent criminals released from Prison
This has been going on for decades

      -lock Hilary up
Yes of course. I agree. But the Clintons have been given the golden ticket to do what they want. That’s why they called him ‘Slick Willy’. Do you really believe Trump doesn’t want to do this? Any investigation he starts to accomplish this gets labeled as obstruction of justice and used against him for impeachment.

-wall on Mexican border with Mexico paying for it
Yes. I agree. But he seems to be the ONLY one in Washington that actually wants this.

      ————————————————

I make no excuses for the man. But if anyone alive can get these things done, it’s him. He knows that and so should you.
