Utah based manufacturer Cobalt Kinetics unveiled two new premium ARs at Industry Day at the Range: the Recon and the Overwatch. From the Combat Kinetics website:
The RECON PDW delivers the best in balance, utility, power and refinement. This rifle blends the performance and handling characteristics of our Team Rifle with the rugged practicality of our Stealth.
At 29” overall and a 13.5” barrel which has our patent pending Pro Brake (pin & welded), the Recon offers all the appeal of an SBR without the hassle of a tax stamp. It’s available in black, gray, FDE and OD green.
The double forward assist feature is the AR’s most interesting feature, allowing the shooter to release the bolt during reloads.
The Overwatch
Based on the proven and potent TEAM series rifle, the Overwatch has been specialized for long-range hard-hitting performance. This rifle comes with an 18” barrel in a choice of 3 calibers; 223 Wylde, 6.8 SPCII and 6.5 Grendel.
The tightly-fit receivers, stock and handguard are a perfect platform for a precision semi-automatic rifle. The Cobalt adjustable stock has been fitted with a bag rider feature for stability on a rear bag for bench and prone shooting.
The robust Overwatch LE is kitted out to be all business- it’s well-suited for varmint or medium game hunting as well as any professional application.
double forward assist… can’t decide if it’s more interesting than it is stupid, but definitely pretty stupid.
Its not just a double forward assist, the also are bolt releases. Cobalt makes high quality stuff
No comment on the build quality.
Doubling up on a feature that seems used most often to turn minor malfunctions into major malfunctions just for the sake of a bit of extra utility that (now a third?) mag release offers is stupid.
How about an AR made entirely from cobalt?
I always figured that based on their prices everything they sold was “premium”.
Holy Hell. Never heard of them and just checked out their website. Nice rifles but quite a bit of change for one.
Just what the world needs. Another “premuim” AR.
Rabble rabble!! Too expensive! Moar reviews on affordable arms from PSA!!
Damn right. And WHY doesn’t it take glock mags!!!!
