Press releases for new pistol lights don’t always catch our attention, but with a claimed 300 lumens off a standard AAA battery and a selling price of just forty bucks, perhaps Axeon Optics’ new MPL1 is worth a look. Seems like a good contender for a high-recoil, solid round count sort of a TTAG test, eh?
Axeon’s press release follows:
Axeon Optics New MPL1 Pistol Light
FORT SMITH, AR (March 16, 2021) – Axeon Optics, a brand known for innovative shooting and outdoor optic products, has launched the new MPL1 pistol light with ergonomic rear switches featuring three light modes. The exceptionally lightweight and compact new light delivers 300 lumens ideal for self-defense handguns.
Designed to maximize threat identification, the Axeon MPL1 ultra-compact and lightweight pistol light is a slender option for a powerful flashlight mounted on your accessory rail equipped handgun. The MPL1 universally fits most popular handgun models and features a master on/off switch just below the rail that is used to prevent accidental power to the light. With the master switch engaged, the shooter can ambidextrously activate the dual instant on/off buttons located on the rear of the rail-mounted light assembly. The same buttons, when the MPL1 is mounted, are located just forward of the trigger guard and are used to conveniently switch modes from constant-on, to fast-flash, or momentary flash. The MPL1 is powered by a single front accessible AAA battery and produces 300 lumens for a constant run time of 30 minutes ideal for home-, self-defense, and concealed carry handgun applications.
The Axeon MPL1 packs vital target identification and illumination capabilities into the smallest pistol light housing available for under muzzle mounting applications. Like other leading Axeon products, technology meets affordability in the MPL1 at a very friendly MSRP of $44.99.

Might look small & work great but, unless your doing a Mexican carry holsters are hard to come by for new attachments. I’ve been a custom leather holster guy for ever!
If it’s durable it’ll be an excellent value at that price. I look forward to the durability test.
Chineseium? Helluva low price…
Finally getting a little smaller, it’s one of my complaints against a wml.
Being high speed low drag is harder with a WML.
I’ve got the low drag down if I keep my tail up, the slow speed I blame on my daddy for not being a greyhound.
Blame everything on your parents, that’s what my psychiatrist told me. Its easier that way.
THANKS FOR INFOR ALWAYS
Getting holsters made to fit the current array of lights is already an issue. If this is just going to be on a nightstand gun then there are a LOT of better options.
Maybe a side by side test of the model it is copying…the Surefire XC-1.
It would also be interesting to see if it would fit in holsters made for the XC-1 form factor. Surefire isn’t a cheap date…but I’ll stick with my XC-1 until this can be shown to be its equal in performance and durability.
Doesn’t look to be at all innovative. Just a very unoriginal knock-off.
Nice job China.
At least Holosun is bringing some fresh ideas to the game at an affordable price…and their durability is documented.
Looks like an XC-1 clone.
Does it fit the holsters?
