Bushnell’s new XRS (for ‘extreme range scope) 4.5-30×50 is the biggest scope I’ve ever seen bolted to a firearm. It rocks a 34mm main tube, a 50mm objective, locking tactical turrets, and enough magnification to see the Great Red Spot on Jupiter. And it lists for $2149, which isn’t that much when compared to the gi-normous Barrett .50s and Accuracy Int’l .338s it’s going to be mounted to. Anything smaller probably need not apply.

At the other end of the price and size spectrum, Bushnell’s new AR 1-4×24 ‘Throw Down PCL’ scope includes a raft of competition-ready features.

Its illuminated .223 bullet-drop compensator reticle is in the first focal plane, and its folding throw lever pulls the magnification from 4x down to a true 1.0x and back in a heartbeat. All for an MSRP of $299.

Stay tuned for the inevitable test.

    • Illuminated, FFP, true 1.0x zoom, and a BDC reticle at < $300? It'll absolutely kill the offerings from Nikon and Burris if the glass is any good. I think daddy just found the scope he's throwing on 5.45×39 AR-15…

      • Don’t know if a BDC reticle that’s calibrated for 5.56 will do well with 5.45…It’s not a big difference, but at 300+ yards, any difference can change a hit to a miss.

  1. Please, please review that 1-4x. I want to know how good the glass is, and if their claimed “true 1x” is really true. We’ve seen in the past how that’s not always the case.

    • For Bushnells, my experience is that “1x” actually means 1x. And he’ll yes we’re asking for one!
