While one would think that Magpul would be resting on its laurels and focusing on cranking out an endless supply of PMAGs right now, the truth is that they’re doing no such thing. In fact, they’re introducing more products at SHOT Show this year than they did last year. And while most of them are incremental updates, there’s one that will let our AK-wielding brethren finally feel the same love that us AR-15 owners have been feeling for some time . . .
Chris Dumm is all about the AK-47 grip. The version shown here at SHOT is still a pre-production model, as they haven’t added the stippling to the grip yet. There’s apparently some discussion about what the final texture should be, so it might not be the same raised Magpul logos that we’ve seen on the other MOE products.
Also new in the “grip” department is a new AR-15 grip with a steeper grip angle than normal. For those who like that kind of thing, it’s exciting. I guess. What makes this one different is that it has a nifty cutout near where the thumb wraps around the back that more comfortably positions your trigger finger on the trigger. A nice touch indeed.
New in terms of stocks is a fixed MOE stock of the skeletonized variety. Set to be the cheapest stock Magpul produces, the thing feels pretty good in terms of length of pull and is downright rock solid. Like their introduction of their MOE fixed stock last year, this one appeals to both the cheap bastard within all of us and those stuck in less gun friendly (and increasingly less friendly) states.
The other big news coming out of Magpul is the introduction of a 25 round AR-10 mag. The longer magazine will also come with a window (like the 5.56 magazines) to see how much ammo you have left.
So not only is Magpul expanding their product line, they’re expanding their magazine capacity. Good news all around from a company that employs more people with mutton chops than anyone else.
Is that a magpul ak mag in the close up of the grip?!?
No – it looks like a Circle 10 Bulgarian magazine.
no, unfortunately. If you look close the logo on the Mag isn’t a magpul logo. I’m thinking probably Arsenal.
I want Magpul to show some love to us Mossberg 500 guys. The Remington 870 is not the only good pump-action shotgun out there!
Hear, hear! I’ve been wanting to see that since I first saw the Magpul kit for the 870 eight or nine months ago.
You mean like the stock, forend and sling mounts listed on their website?

Whaaaa…. When did those show up?! I swear I’ve been checking every month or so since I first saw the 870 set. The last time was probably 6 weeks ago.
Thanks for pointing this out, before I eventually found it.
I just went and found the TTAG post on the 870 furniture, and it was introduced at last years SHOT show. Perhaps the 500 stuff is actually debuting at this year’s show, and our guys just haven’t made it to the Magpul booth yet.
Was hoping for a 30 round .308 mag – but 25 round is a good start.
Thumbs up

no jokes about 7 please.
25 rounds of .308 should be plenty because you won’t have to shoot someone 4 times to stop them like you do with the 5.56. (/sarcasm)

Their new AR-15 grip looks a lot like the Umbrella Corporation Weapons Research Group one… just with a compartment and texturing.
Seems right, considering Magpul made it. Oh well.
for the price point & comfort i would still prefer my hogue grip.
no offense to the top guns at magpul, that hogue is field tested for comfort.
Nothing beats the Houge grip on an AK!
Wait, is that fixed stock fitting over a carbine buffer tube? It looks like there’s a castle nut and one of magpul’s asp endplate thingers back there.
Looking for magazine’s for an AK 47 model rifle that being converted to .308 win.
