If you’re smart and staying away from today’s shopping-oriented craziness, good on you. That doesn’t, however, relieve you of your seasonal responsibility to divine and procure just the right presents for everyone on your shopping list. Just in time to hoover up some of your gift budget, Tactical Walls, maker of all manner of hide-in-plain-sight gear, is out with something for the gun owner who has everything (except children) — the non-locking Tactical Lamp. Here’s their press release . . .

TacticalWalls has announced the release of the Tactical Lamp – a discreet new home storage solution for firearms, every day carry items and other valuables.

The Tactical Lamp is a fully functional home lighting appliance that features a hidden storage compartment inside its wooden body. The hidden compartment is accessed by removing a detachable side panel from the base of the lamp. The detachable side panel is kept in place by magnetized placeholders.

Inside the hidden compartment is a protective layer of loop-sided Velcro to protect valuables from marring and allow the use of a variety of mounting options. Behind the loop-sided Velcro, there is also a retention magnet that makes it possible to secure a firearm, knife or other metal valuables to the rear of the internal compartment.

The exterior dimensions of the lamp base are 11.5″H x 9″W x 7.25″D. The interior dimensions of the storage compartment are 9″H x 6″W x 4″D.

The Tactical Lamp is sold with or without the lampshade and can also be purchased as a single unit or a set of two. There are different types of finishes available, including Dutch Walnut, Black and Cherry. MSRPs range from $119 to $129 for a single unit and $179 to $199 for a set of two (depending on whether lamp shade is included).

  1. Yeah meh. I am an antique dealer who could easily modify one of the many crappy lamps I’ve had over the years. Not worth it…well maybe 20bucks.

  2. Look, I love lamp as much as the next guy, but that’s pricey for something that still looks like I’d gladly pass it up at a garage sale.

    • Improperly trained children are dangerous.

A near infinite number of generations have grown up around “unsecured” firearms.

      • It is pretty hard to train a five year old and a two year old. Even if I could, what about their idiot friends?

        • Secure the room and keep an eye on the dam things rather than letting TV and pretty colours babysit them.

I lived with my father for a while after uni and we managed to train my sisters who were that age that they NEVER went into my room. My room effectively did not exist unless they were brought in with my and my father’s permission. (My birthday morning) (Christmas one year) and when my dad was fixing the wiring and they were ‘helping’

Train your spawn right and they will stop their friends from trying to ente the verboten room.

  3. I own Tactical Walls products and they are well made and functional. This piece seems a little pricey, but I couldn’t make something like that for less or as nice. One piece I have has been in daily use for two years and still looks and operates like new.
