Originally designed for SWAT teams and the military for door breaching and such, Ten-X Tactical is planning on selling their new underslung shotgun to civilians as well. The single shot shotgun is designed to run under either a 16 inch or shorter barrel (with options for longer barrels) and provides a nice Magwell grip when not in use. Video after the break . . .

The shotgun is technically considered an “Any Other Weapon” under the National Firearms Act, meaning that you only pay the $5 tax instead of the full rape that is the $200 charge. Same rectal exam background check, though. The aluminum construction is nice and won’t add a whole lot of weight to your gun. I could definitely see this going on a home defense AR-15.

Seriously? I can see its utility as a breacher, but on an HD gun? I can’t picture any scenario where it would be more than an impediment.

      • So in what situation would you say, “I’ve got him/them covered with the 30-shot carbine, but I’m going to move my grip to the one-round shotgun”? I’m not trying to be a smartass, I’m truly puzzled as to what scenario is so likely that this is some sort of solution.

        • May sound weird…but you never know when you may need to breech one of your own doors. Or you could throw buckshot or salt at a perp first…then follow up with .223 if need be. Just a couple potential thoughts.

        • Perhaps one where the user is afraid of over penetration?

Additionally, if there is some unforeseen malfunction with the AR-15 that prevents operation, it would allow for immediate access to a second firearm.

        • That shotgun attachment could also make sense in jurisdictions that criminalize magazines with more than 10 rounds. (It provides one more shot without having to change magazines.)

  2. Wonder if I can mount one of those on my Mosin Nagant. With that and a bayonet the zombies don’t stand a chance.

  3. Well you could put a slug in it and keep it available for two scenarios:
    (1) You have to shoot someone through a door/wall.
    (2) You have to shoot someone and know for certain that they will drop right there.

It might also be a nice option for someone who wants a bean bag round for a non-lethal first shot.

  4. Since you can register that for a $5 tax stamp, what would happen if you attached it to a buttstock which had nothing more than a single, upside-down picatinny rail? Would that still be legal?

    • Not sure about the legality, but why would you do that instead of just getting a regular shotgun?

Aside from the awesomeness, of course.

    • Am I missing something? In my mind, that would be a shoulder fired shotgun with a barrel less than 18.5″. In other words, an unregistered SBS which will get you a nice vacation in Uncle Sam’s Felon Training School.

  5. I like it for my HD but I would put one of those taser rounds or bean bag rounds, for those situations where the law is in gray area , if running out door or away , or not sure of attacker, could be friendly ( this happen to a friend of mine , he shot his son in leg , kid was breaking back in after sneekng out) . I can have a less than lethal option. It would not be my first option for attacker , I have 30 in the clip plus extra clip why would I need more , I will buy it to have that option , I like it

  6. Hmmm… this looks like it might be useful for 3-gunning. The single-shot is discouraging, though, unless you practice to the point where you can work it really quickly.

This could be especially useful in the Trooper division in reducing the amount of stuff you have to carry.

    • It could also be useful for hunting scenarios where you are hunting birds as well as other animal such as deer, coyotes, black bear, etc.

  7. Goes back to the old question of when you mount this under a rifle with a buttstock does it then fall under a short barrel shotgun. I bought a super shorty and was going to mount it under a AR (just for sh*ts and giggles) but I was told not to because it would be adding a buttstock to a AOW and in my state short barreled shotguns are illegal(oh well super shorty way too heavy)
I could see a use for this in a HD gun. Load the single shot with a “less than lethal projectile and you would have a less than lethal option without taking rifle off target. Police could use the taser 12 gauge load on a methhead and use the AR depending on the reaction of the suspect.

  8. Sorry Javier, just read your response about less than lethal option. Didnt mean to double up. Great minds think alike I guess 🙂

  9. Reminds me of the shotgun secondary fire on a Helghast rifle in Killzone. I always loved that that thing for those oh shit rounding a corner moments.

  10. flare gun, red flare intruder green friend, any 12 ga chute flares for illumination?
grin and lets not forget our gas rounds!

  11. you know something is wrong with where you live if you have to defend your home with an assault rifle in general let alone such a combo.
