If you haven’t been on Nick Freitas’s Instagram page where the rising political and social media star (he has more than 1.1 million followers) regularly posts, you’re missing out on both his mild-mannered humor as well as his anti-gun argument destroying logic that he uses in attempting to stem the Democratic tide of bad legislation in Virginia. It’s there that the former Green Beret combat veteran has served in the House of Delegates since 2016.

He is unabashedly pro 2A, pro responsibility and has some of the most educated and logical arguments to be found in support of gun rights in our country.

Freitas recently spoke during the Virginia Citizens Defense League (VCDL) Lobby Day, an event the VCDL holds each year where members meet with their representatives and listen to speakers at a closing rally. Of course, this year, it appears those citizens who spoke to Democratic legislators who supposedly represent them fell on deaf ears as to date, the plethora of gun bills being proposed and voted on in the state have been supported by every single Democratic member of the house.

“There is this idea…we’re just obsessed with guns. When in reality if you actually look at the philosophy behind why we’re here, what we’re truly obsessed with is the idea of individual liberty and personal responsibility” Freitas told the crowd gathered at the event. “Our founders universally recognized the right of an individual, the right of a free person to be able to defend themselves and their families. But they also recognized it was actually necessary to the security of a free state. You can’t have a free country, ultimately, if the citizens in that country are completely dependent upon that government for their protection. You can’t completely outsource your defense to somebody else.”

In noting the obvious lies and hypocrisy of anti-gun Democrats Freitas was clear.

“I get told repeatedly, Nick you’re lying, nobody wants to take your guns, we just want ‘common sense’ gun control. But the moment they’re in power, the moment they’re in power, HB 2 takes our guns. It effectively takes your guns,” Freitas said of the bill recently passed by the house to outlaw assault weapons in the state.

“Should we trust when we get told nobody wants to take your firearms, because the same people that are saying that are now trying to do it,” Freitas said. “What it comes down to is this, it’s Nick, trust us to provide for your security even though we lied to you about what we actually want to do. So why would I trust them? … Logically I shouldn’t have any obligation to do so.”

    He unsuccessfully sought the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate in 2018, losing in the primary election to Corey Stewart. During the Republican primary campaign, Freitas characterized his rival, Prince William County Chairman Corey Stewart, as a “hate-monger.” He said, “we must reject Corey Stewart’s dog-whistling of White [soopreemacists,] anti-[S-e-m-i-tes,] and racists.”

    He was the Republican nominee in the 2020 election to represent Virginia’s 7th congressional district in the United States House of Representatives, which he narrowly lost to Abigail Spanberger, the incumbent Democratic congresswoman. Freitas earned early endorsements from conservative organizations the Club for Growth and FreedomWorks.

    Freitas has been described as having a “conservative voting record and [liber-tar-ian] streak.” He voted in favor of [mary jane] decriminalization during the January 2020 session of the General Assembly. He stated: “I’d rather we use law enforcement resources to go after violent criminals and people that are creating victims.” Freitas is a member of the Heritage Foundation and the National Rifle Association.

          Don’t think for a single minute that I can’t watch that video or even agree with your sentiment without Instagram.

          It’s something I simply have no legit use for. Atleast with TTAG, most of what I say goes through. With Facebook, I’m guaranteed to be suppressed. Even if they didn’t, there is too much nonsense. It’s just not worth it to me.

          An account to log into is not required for YouTube. All that is required aside from a qualified browser is that cookies are allowed. The idea is not and never was to boycott said cabal. The ONLY way to actually do that is to not own any technology and never be on the internet. There is a world of difference between using Facebook and watching YouTube videos. Otherwise, TTAG would have to be denied based on those same principles.

          This is the very same thing that makes it such a joke when any politician starts talking about freeing America from the shackles of China. That currently cannot be done. Nearly everything we have (especially technology) is made by China. That does include the computers and servers that every aspect of our government runs on from all branches of DC to every branch of the armed forces. The illegal alien from Mexico thinks they built America but this entire country runs on Chinese technology.

          As an individual, it is perfectly normal to draw that proverbial line in the sand.

  5. Funny but yesterday I was getting my haircut talking to an old guy who’s maybe moving to Virginia. Vietnam vet. He lives in my city but this was in Indiana. Has an ILL ccl & knows he can legally carry in Indiana sans anything. I did tell him Virginia is going downhill but he’s moving in with a daughter. Too many federal employee dims. I am aware of Nick Freitas🙄

    • From what I’ve read the VA (if one uses them for any health care) will try and part veterans from any and all firearms, it started under Hussein’s reign in 09.

    You also can’t have a free country if the
    citizens are relying on the government for “free” abortions. “Free” medical marijuana. “Free” sex change operations.
    “Free” college. And a welfare industrial complex that replaces the father with a welfare check. And then replaces the father’s guns, with the guns of a big city police department.

    A long time ago. The “gun community” was very must against the welfare state. But that has really changed.

    Because private religious charity requires you to have self control. But the secular @theistic welfare state doesn’t require you to have self control.
