Pretty much all of us at TTAG loved the Caracal 9C with Quick Sights when we reviewed it back in 2011. So we were happy to see that the firm’s USA subsidiary is still alive and kicking – something that we were unsure of after hearing rumors of their demise. In any event, the Caracal guys brought their pistols, carbine, and CS 308 sniper rifle to the SHOT Show Range Day. I really enjoyed shooting the CS .308, and found it easy to engage the steel targets set up at 500, 700, and 900 meters. Unfortunately, the full production capacity of these beautiful rifles is currently dedicated to fulfilling military contracts in the middle east. Maybe one day. In the meantime, here is some Caracal eye candy . . .
I have not spent much quality time with this rifle, but my initial impressions are positive. One unique feature: the lever near the trigger is the safety. This is undoubtedly one of the best locations for a safety I have ever seen – at least for right-handed shooters. The Kryptek Yeti Camo pattern is a one-off for the SHOT Show, but really makes this rifle stand out on the firing line.
Close up of the detachable stock:
Want… hopefully not recalled after being released for commercial sells.
thumbrest or thumbhole (by cracky)? i don’t see one…
There is a physical, rigid connection from the bottom of the grip, to the stock, and back the the rear of the receiver, which makes it a “thumbhole” for legal purposes.
When nothing but the best will do when it comes to suppressing your own population. In the middle east they should be able to sell all they make.
Me Like!
It’s almost as nice as my new Glock single stack 9!
cool…but how is Arab customer service/support?
They’re not going to cater to the US market until they setup an in house factory and support here in the states. Needless to say it’s not a top priority for the multi billion dollar corporation that owns the caracal subsidiary.
Who knows when these weapons will come into fruition. It could be three years from now, or never. They have money to throw around at shot show, so I wouldn’t get all excited that they’re there.
As long as they didnt borrow a remington 700 based trigger, it shouldn’t just “go off”.
Meh, ar pattern bolt action,
So, like the 9mm Caracal the rifle bolt ends up in your face? Sure looks like it
pipe dream A RAB super weapon. When will this one be recalled?
