FAIRFAX, VA – The more than five million law-abiding members of the National Rifle Association have enjoyed discounts and cost-saving programs from many American corporations that have partnered with the NRA to expand member benefits.
Since the tragedy in Parkland, Florida, a number of companies have decided to sever their relationshipwith the NRA, in an effort to punish our members who are doctors, farmers, law enforcement officers, fire fighters, nurses, shop owners and school teachers that live in every American community.
We are men and women who represent every American ethnic group, every one of the world’s religions and every form of political commitment.
The law-abiding members of the NRA had nothing at all to do with the failure of that school’s security preparedness, the failure of America’s mental health system, the failure of the National Instant Check System or the cruel failures of both federal and local law enforcement.
Despite that, some corporations have decided to punish NRA membership in a shameful display of political and civic cowardice. In time, these brands will be replaced by others who recognize that patriotism and determined commitment to Constitutional freedoms are characteristics of a marketplace they very much want to serve.
Let it be absolutely clear. The loss of a discount will neither scare nor distract one single NRA member from our mission to stand and defend the individual freedoms that have always made America the greatest nation in the world.
National Rifle Association
Established in 1871, the National Rifle Association is America’s oldest civil rights and sportsmen’s group. More than five million members strong, NRA continues to uphold the Second Amendment and advocates enforcement of existing laws against violent offenders to reduce crime. The Association remains the nation’s leader in firearm education and training for law-abiding gun owners, law enforcement and the armed services. Be sure to follow the NRA on Facebook at NRA on Facebook and Twitter @NRA.
NRA *drops the mic*.
The backlash against Delta airlines by the politicians and their fuel tax breaks is making the case that the NRA is employing extortion and starting to smell like an anti-American terrorist organization.
Calling the reaction to a school shooting a blatant attack on conservatives is pretty sick.
Looks like the twisted logic of the NRA2.0 stomps on other rights with reckless abandon.
I’m sending them 100$ as I type this, flinch. And there’s *millions* like me doing the same, everytime you gun grabbing bitches throw a temper tantrum. You know why we always win? Because we do more then protest then cry on Facebook. We use the one language politicians understand, Cold, hard, heartless, cash. Capitalism baby.
Actually, the cash isn’t that important. The votes that come from our cause however make large differences. Just ask the Clintons, both of them.
We hit the Marxist Democrats with TRUTH; TRUTH is a flood light Penetrating their black Web exposing their lies.
Boo Hoo. Cry a river Nancy.
K. Well, I just wrote them a check. So…
The backlash is because the NRA is the largest civil rights/liberties organization in the US, with 58% approvals among all Americans.
As far as NRA2.0, their stronger support of the second amendment in the face of all gun control lobby and people like Obama and Hillary supporting bans and confiscation, is why the NRA has gotten more popular EVERY year for a generation now.
I’ll be renewing my membership as well.
I’d love to be able to renew my NRA (or GOA) membership…they’re lifetime memberships.
Flinch…..please tell me that you are really not this stupid. Did your activist teenager (if you have one) get hold of your phone and punk you? If you really are this ignorant…well…there is nobody (including the NRA) that can help you. Now excuse me…..I have to go upgrade to a Life Member.
“The backlash against Delta airlines by the politicians and their fuel tax breaks is making the case that the NRA is employing extortion and starting to smell like an anti-American terrorist organization.”
I don’t see the connection, unless you’re trying to say that somehow the NRA is secretly behind Delta’s problems.
As though Delta hasn’t done enough to piss off flyers who see the opportunity to fly on other airlines.
“Calling the reaction to a school shooting a blatant attack on conservatives is pretty sick.”
When those reactions demand actions that directly contradict the concept of a constitution being the highest law in the land, then yes, they are a blatant attack on conservatives, as well as the rule of law.
When we allow emotions to rule the day, we allow logic and facts to take a back seat. That’s not good to anyone except a liberal, who doesn’t really care what a law says, but instead acts on what he believes it should say.
And that, my friend, is even obvious to a die-hard liberal, because he will act on that idea any time he finds it expedient.
I just joined BFYTW
“The law-abiding members of the NRA had nothing at all to do with the failure of that school’s security preparedness, the failure of America’s mental health system, the failure of the National Instant Check System or the cruel failures of both federal and local law enforcement.”
Where did you get “Calling the reaction to a school shooting a blatant attack on conservatives” from that?
Personally I’m more than a little offended that, as an owner of more than one MSR, I’m being called a murderer by your ilk. But that’s not what the above NRA statement addresses.
Typical democratic (dumbocrookist) reaction; conflate the issue with a totally unrelated and untrue comment. Pettifoggery.
As a long time NRA member, I didn’t even know these discounts existed…that’s how much stock I put in these ‘unfriending’ events. I didn’t join for the discounts and I doubt most members even knew about them or cared either. I’ve read that most of them (maybe all) were pretty lame. But I can say that these companies are now on a ‘list’. Thank you guys for painting that nice bulls-eye on your backs (imagery intended, btw).
You can’t hardly miss them! I get mailings almost weekly for some product or another with an NRA relationship. And I don’t want them, I have no use for them. I don’t want their cheap chinese swag either for renewing my membership. USE THE MEMBERSHIP MONEY FOR WHAT IT’S INTENDED.
DEFEND THE 2A!!!
This is my biggest problem with the NRA. They’re loaded with cash, as they should be, but then spend a lot of it on dumb shit like endless letters and promotions. They should take all of that a get farther up more Congress critters asses, and taking more cases to court.
Are you a MEMBER?
Yep. Just sent them some encouragement money in fact.
Its simple when renewing or donating. You tell them to keep the bag or knife.
I do.
Then check the box that says “Do not send me the gift”. Pretty simple, eh Ansel?
Well, NRA, those are the right words.
The NRA is pissing off all the right people. Even if Trump is one of them. If Trump decides to go to war (politically) with the NRA he will regret it. He will not win in 2020 if he continues his anti gun rants much longer. Gun owners have a long and bitter memory. I’ve defended and supported Trump vigorously up until the past week. This issue WILL break him, just as it broke Obama and Clinton, if he chooses poorly.
I no longer support him either, nor do I support any republicans who vote for any of this.
My prediction?
He’s already forfeited our support, he knows he’s become a one-term president so he’s going to stick it to us as much as he can before either his term is up or he loses the house and senate (because congressional republicans are busy alienating us as well) and gets himself impeached.
NOTHING has been signed
NOTHING has been passed
NOTHING HAS EVEN BEEN INTRODUCED as legislation
Dry your panties and dewad them.
Every gun control lobby front has called for total bans.
Why do you think NRA support keeps going up and 58% of all Americans view the NRA favorably , including a majority of US independents?
Keeping holding your breath, maybe you really will get a pony.
True dat.
Personally i would have no problem with somebody like Ted Cruz instead. Or any other 2A guy that defends our rights without any limitations or a but.
Same as above, I had no idea these discounts existed and couldn’t care less. No one joins the NRA for a rental car discount, something the virtue signaling companies couldn’t even be bothered to research.
The entire “boycott” is backfiring, Florida just had record attendance at one of it’s gun shows. Too early for data but my guess is ARs will be flying of the shelves again. Demonizing legal gun owners is not a winning strategy. It’s all a distraction to try to deflect the total failure of Federal and local Law Enforcement. The Coward County Sheriff is Liberal so the legacy media is doing its best to protect them.
Some stupid, nonsensical laws will be passed and no one in the Government will be held accountable, just like they were not held accountable for all their other failures that lead to death………
Unlike AARP, the sole reason for the NRA’s existence has nothing to do with discounts. But now I do know what companies to avoid when possible.
Is there a list somewhere of the companies that have given in to this SJW pressure?
http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/ct-united-airlines-nra-20180224-story.html
So not even a tiny fraction of he number that ran away from ACLU during Skokie or Planned Parenthood during partial birth abortion revelations
total HOAX!
What’s a total hoax?
“If you waiver on one right they will take them all” unknown
“He that would give up liberty for security deserves neither” Benjamin Franklin
So where can I find a complete list of virtue-signalers?
Now’s the time for the NRA to bring back its $300 lifetime membership offer. Turn this event into the biggest recruiting drive ever.
Get 40 million NRA members, and every one of those companies will come crawling back on their knees to offer discounts again.
Best idea and post I’ve read in a week. We need to stop preaching to the choir and take our letters, emails and votes to our Senators and Representatives in the US Congress.
I hate to sound like an “old guy” but an awful lot of today’s high school and college kids are spoiled, believe they are entitled brats… especially the living in mommy’s basement hooded like the Klan losers and pussies known as ANTIFA…. funded and run by Democrats, Clinton and Obama supporters… pretty much a fact according to left, right and neutral news sources… I love it when they run into the bikers or unsympathetic police because they started shit and someone else finished it. Have you noticed that most unhooked ANTIFA members and most anti-gun democrats are pale and weak looking individuals who probably couldn’t even pee in the woods without f’ing it up. They will perish so easily in a natural disaster…. and what are they going to do when confronted by thugs?? Try to hug and love them and explain how we should all just buy the world a Coke?
Sad…
This. And write letters to the editor, local talk radio (or national if you can get through) and try to get your POV on local TV and media sources. Some folks around here will need to brush up on their delivery a bit but speak from your heart, and from your Constitution. I beleive the end result of this mess will be NRA membership hitting 6 million by year’s end. Sign up your kids, spouses, grandkids, etc. A decent box of ’06 ammo costs more than the $30 for a year’s membership.
That 15 year old camera seeker is one of the drivers of the boycotts. The companies fear the leftist mobs, because this is what leftist mobs do.
As for the NRA, think I’ll write them another check tomorrow.
I’ve paid my NRA dues every year since I learned my lesson as a poltical moderate and tried to register a revolver in DC in 2007 and learned that gun control groups all support total bans and total confiscation of they can find a way. I have never availed myself of the discounts discussed and could care less.
Trying to blame the NRA for the utter incompetence of the local law enforcement before Parkland, or the profound bumbling by the FBI that caused that incident (and I can’t believe there are not high level resignations at the top of the FBI over that yet), is just incredible.
I belong to a couple of national groups, Returned Peace Corps Volunteers, a national support group for firefighters, National Diabetes association (I have a nephew with type I). I have never even used any of the affinity programs with those, I don’t know anyone who has.
This looks like just another method for the media to keep this in the news so the news can keep sensational coverage up for profit — when we know the news coverage of these shootings promotes more of them.
During the Skokie controversy the ACLU lost 320 corporate sponsors and affinity companies. 320. During the partial birth abortion debate Planned parenthood lost over 2/3 of their corporate affinity, way more than the NRA is losing, yet that did not make the front page of a single paper. Yet this thing of 10 or 20 or 30 companies distancing from the NRA, as companies do all the time with lots of adovacy group, is wall to wall on the front page of every newspaper and news websites? This is not about the NRA but about the transparent double standards and bias in the media.
Rather poor planning that there is not “poison pill” for such cancellations.
As “Join our plan and you do __________, try to drop off the plan and our damages will amount to $20million payable within 5 days in cash”
The cancellations will likely result in way way more cash from rank and file members and other supporters. Looking at their filings they seem to have lost about 10% of affinity and the affinity is les than 3% of their income. so 0.3%.
I didn’t join the NRA for discounts. A BRAZILIAN company paid for my membership(s).And I have another one to send in…I’m planning on a cash donation along with a South American company(!)who supports my rights. Mebbe these leftard corporate idiots could learn something from Taurus😩😖😧
Recent events have made me want to join the NRA, GOA, Calguns Foundation, and any other good lobbying efforts y’all might suggest.
My question is: does anyone know if it is possible to make an anonymous donation, or ensure that the donation doesn’t lead to my name and address being bandied about to other organizations, or leads to tons of excess mail regarding the membership?
I’m a bit tired of those things. Anyway I can help the cause anonymously would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for the advice.
My question is: does anyone know if it is possible to make an anonymous donation,…”
Simple: gift a membership in someone else’s name, instead of anonymous. A couple years ago, me and thousands of others made a gift membership to Michael Bloomberg. NRA get’s the money, Bloomberg gets the mail.
Make a dontation to NRA and write boldly on the form (or letter) “DO NOT SOLICIT”. We do this all the time with our recruiting. It works.
The issue for you may be to what part of NRA do you want to donate? ILA? PVF? General funds? Foundation? There are many divisions and each raises its own money.
I’ve had home and auto insurance with Metlife for decades. Since they’ve decided they don’t want my business, Liberty Mutual now get my thousands of $ a year of business. I’m letting them know exactly why they’re losing my business. How many 15 year olds are going to make up for the business they just lost?
I joined the NRA a year ago after becoming one of the POTG only a year before. I have read about many of the controversies on this website regarding their handling of various issues and other than the fact that some of the spokespersons were cool and Dana Loesch and Antonia Okafor are hot, I did not really see how I benefited from my membership.
I have watched with dismay the recent antics of the anti’s and today read a post in a Spokane newspaper that stated (without any type of evidence) that the NRA was a greater threat to Americans than ISIS. On top of this, the businesses trying to back away from the NRA to curry favor with the public has lit a fire under my hindquarters.
It will probably be a pointless gesture to renew my membership or become a lifetime member but the unreasonable, irrational people on the left can go have intercourse with themselves. I would like to know (somewhat rhetorical question) what else I could do ?
There are not “many controversies” at all by the same n umber one finds with any advocacy group.
I don’t agree 100% with ever position and all the details of every strategy of the NRA but I support them 100%.
You don’t see how you benefit from membership? If there was no NRA the anti’s would have taken away your Second Amendment rights and banned all firearms long ago.
5 rental car companies and 2 airlines…there may be more now. Vote with your wallet folks and stick your finger in their eye when you do. I have a friend who works for Hertz and is an old shooting buddy. I contacted him immediately after this and asked him to find another $8 and hr job. He’s retired and shuttles cars around for something to do. Sad. I’m sure he can find another low paying job with a company who supports the 2A.
I read that Lockton in kansas city mo has decided to sever ties. They were the backers of NRA carry guard.
Lockton is the current NRA Armscare (firearms insurance) carrier. I used to hang with the Armscare administrator when it was run through KVI out of Des Moines for many years. It was not a money-maker for KVI , Lockton may be happy to dump it if this is true.
I’ve never once whipped out my NRA card for a discount so I lose nothing in all of this. These companies have let me know how they feel about my Constitutional rights so they’ve really done nothing but hurt themselves.
HAve you noticed how quickly these companies dumped the NRA after this shooting? And have you also noticed that they all claim that their e-mail boxes lit up with Ban the NRA hate mail? How many people do you know who actually aware of what discounts are available to NRA members and which companies offer them? It is not many, I am sure…So one must ask: how is it that this boycott organized so quickly and in such volume?
Does anyone other than me see the hand of Michael Bloomberg behind this? Or the well-organized and financed marches on State capitals?
IMO, this did not happen by happenstance. It was a pre-planned boycott waiting for a tragedy to be triggered.
To hell with Negotiate Rights Away. GOA all the way!
You obviously know nothing about politics, legislation and reality… Had Larry P and his bomb throwers (or Dudley Brown, etc.) been in control during the Brady Act and “assault weapons” ban days, what we’d now have, due to their idiotic no-compromise stance, would be no semiautomatic firearms, no handguns, and probably an adoption of the Australia system- no repeating weapons, even pump or lever actions. They would’ve lost the legislation at the time and it would’ve been over. Then, Pratt and his boys would’ve probably convinced some poor gomer to go out and take on the government using the “Constitution” and they’d have run a couple tanks over his house and then these great leaders would’ve had to try to go underground somewhere.
Fact is, that legislation was going to pass at that time regardless (with such great leaders as Viagra Bob), so when confronted with a losing proposition from all angles it’s most intelligent to lose a small battle to keep on fighting and eventually win the war.
With the sunset in the semiauto ban, we now have even better and more options today than ever, and these will never be taken away again- there are too many of them and the AR platform is now the absolutely most popular firearm in US history.
With so many states now mandating shall-issue carry permits handguns are hardly even mentioned any longer.
Bitching about having to get a permit to carry? Keep working on that one if you want but stop and think- it took from the early 1930s through 1993 to take us to the brink of losing the Second Amendment- about 60 years. Look at what most states have recovered in the 25 years since. It wasn’t GOA or anyone other than NRA and its members that made this almost miracle happen. The left is continually in shell-shock and now they’re losing their momentum on the latest government failure to protect. They’re screaming as loudly as they and their “news”-lackeys are able but the vast majority of Americans, especially those who don’t own firearms yet, aren’t as ignorant as they once were; they aren’t fed from a single news source any longer; and they’ve learned not to trust their government nor the gerneral news and entertainment media.
If you live in Illinois, California, NY, Connecticut, New Jersey, Maryland, etc, work harder to change the laws there or be the big, no-compromise dude you claim to be and move to a state that respects your rights. Put your tax money where your mouth is.
