“An Adams County [Ohio] mother expected candy boxes her son received for Halloween to be loaded with calories,” wlwt.com reports. “She didn’t expect them to be loaded with ammunition.” Oh how they laughed in the newsroom at that one! Loaded! With ammunition, not calories! Oh my God, I can’t breathe! Anyway, “Campbell said her 4-year-old son, Landon, opened a box of Milk Duds and asked, ‘What’s this?’ Campbell said she took the box from him and then started going through the other Milk Dud boxes in the bag. ‘I opened up the second box; more bullets. I opened up the third box; more bullets. I opened up the fourth box; more bullets. I’m like, ‘That’s not a coincidence, that’s not a mistake.’ There were a total of four boxes, each with three rounds inside. All appeared to be . . .
.22 caliber.”
And she’s complaining? It was some kind of screw-up with donated candy at the school. Dad probably stored some of his precious .22 in Milk Dud boxes (to hide it from his son), Mom grabbed it without thinking and brought it to school. The local po-po are on the case. The .22 ammo will, no doubt, be destroyed. And there’s your tragedy, really.
If some thoughtful gunny in my neighborhood was doling out boxes of .22LR on All Hallow’s Eve, I’d have sent my kid – and all her little friends – back to that house over and over again until he turned out the lights. But that’s just me.
So THAT’S what’s behind the ammo shortage!
Fake story.
Everybody knows children don’t inspect Halloween candy before eating it, they just shove it into their mouths in handfuls. Most aren’t even patient enough to remove the wrappers.
My BS meter went off as well. Smells of a photo op shocker.
Ha!
Exactly. I say a big old heap of BS. Nobody, I mean NOBODY just gives away .22 for free. Not even Obama to the Mexican Drug Cartels.
Hey guys we found where all the .22LR is!
At least pop rocks tasted good when they went off in your mouth 🙂
Just three rounds? They won’t be going back to that neighborhood next year. 🙂
Where is this house? Are they still giving out ammo? I will bring my bag and the kids as well
Heck, I’ll send my wife there in her naughty Halloween outfit for some .22
What does she look like? I have plenty of .22…….
No kidding. I may be willing to buy the overpriced .22 from the local range.
MUAHAHAHAH
Psh, forget this guys .22 I got a good deal of .50 cal.
Amazing how dangerous bullets are with no gun in sight…you know they just leap up and impale themselves into you. I’ve seen it happen.
Dangerous trick? How?
hoax…
+1
Nobody with real ammo would do this – .22 is too hard to find.
And anyone who really wanted to hurt children wouldn’t put .22 rounds in candy wrappers. Even if the kids hit them with hammers or dropped them into a fire nobody would die.
So… yeah.
Someone was clearly attempting to dispose of some Federal Champion .22 – hence dropping them into boxes labeled “Dud.” I seem to have a 10% dud rate with the boxes I’ve bought.
That’s funny. 🙂
Actually, I had some of that Federal stuff and found an interesting way to use it. I tied ornament hangers to each round with some Christmas string, and now use them to decorate my little Norfolk Island Pine tree each holiday season. Makes for a very interesting conversation starter with some people. 🙂
Lucky little bastard!!!!
I don’t buy this. How exactly would you reseal those boxes where it wasn’t immediately obvious that they had been tampered with?
This sounds fishy to me too, but the little milk dud boxes are sealed with glue so you could reseal them the same way- if you opened the boxes carefully enough with minimal tearing.
A razor blade to open and a tiny bit of white glue to re-seal. The end recipient would have no clue they’d been tampered with until he opened the box and [maybe] saw the new glue job. Just tried it here with a tiny (4 pcs.) Milk Duds box.
(EDIT: deleted USC reference. Probably not an FFL that did it!)
Attention getting mom with an invented story to advance the ‘For the Children” narrative. Total BS.
Yeah, I’m thinking hoax too. Who would give out 4 boxes of milk duds (or anything) to every kid at halloween?
These are teeny-tiny Milk Duds boxes. Four little candies in each box. My kids hit a few houses this year where they were giving out handfuls of them. Fortunately, my kids don’t like Milk Duds – I’ve got about 50 boxes.
Just don’t eat them all in one sitting. I did with a movie theater-size box of Milk Duds and boy did I regret it when all that caramel formed a lovely ball of pain in my stomach.
Like everyone else with a half a brain, I call BS on this story.
Half a brain? Are you an MDA supporter? 🙂
I agree with the posters above who called this a hoax. This sounds just like some anti-gunner’s perfect scheme to make people “think of the children.”
First, who gives away .22lr? That stuff is just too darned expensive to be giving out to children. Second, who gives away 22lr?
Someone wants to paint gun owners as irresponsible and evil by giving children ammunition they could easily play with and use to kill themselves or others. This is the same as all the stories about people giving out THC laced candy, poisoning candy, putting razors into apples, or any of that other nonsense that doesn’t actually happen. It’s intended to scare you because children, who rarely think things out thoroughly, are vulnerable to attacks of this nature; even if those attacks have never actually occurred.
Nobody gave those children bullets instead of candy. Some MDA parent just went out and bought (or stole her husband’s, baby-daddy’s, father’s, ect.) a box of .22 and took a photo of the rounds inside boxes of chocolate that she stole from her child. It’s going to turn out just like the pistol in the toy aisle of Target.
FWIW, I watched my friend chomp down on a candy bar with a needle in it when I was a kid. We lived in Fort Worth, TX (closer to Saginaw really) back in the early 80’s. Threw all my candy out that year. We did so many houses that there was no way we could figure out where we got it from Stopped me from ToTing for long time. So that shit does happen.
I think the 22 was someone who just wanted to shake up the soccer moms and cause a ruckus.
Proof or it didn’t happen.
There have been zero documented cases of trick or treat candy ever having been tampered with maliciously. No police reports, no media reports that involved actual people, nothing.
I suppose that the movie theater size boxes of Milk Duds would be filled with .50BMG.
Yeah my first instinct is false flag. Some MDA type making a political statement on the order of “this is what our children get with current gun laws” or some such nonsense…
I don’t see how these are dangerous. I used to carry a live .22lr round in my pocket every day as a kid. I found it at my cousin’s and kept it, cuz it was one of those shotshell rounds. I had never seen one before and thought it was awesome, so into my pocket it went.
mmm…delicious!
Change costume, go back, change costume, go back, change costume, go back . . . all night long.
But really the practice of giving out non-candy items for Halloween isn’t new. How many of us got tooth brushes or floss from some random progressive as children? I myself started handing out candy to children, condoms to teenagers who looked old enough to drive, and beer to the parents who were walking with their children years ago. I don’t think I could bring myself to part with my ammo though.
I got pennies from this one guy on our street, but other than that it was always candy.
I smell an MDA scheme…
Cabelas PduChien Wi on Monday bricks of Thunderbolt 22LR $26 (minus coupon). And 330rd packs of CCI still on shelf late afternoon. Mut be catching up.
Man… what’s with all the ads…
Wish my kids were lucky enough to get ammo instead of candy.
It would be nice to solve the mystery.
If the Mom is telling the truth then
it is a plant by anti for bad publicity
or
an idiot who thinks it a joke
if mom is lying
then hang her.
check her walmart reciepts
Normally I’m very anti-conspiracy theory / tinfoil hat. But this situation just doesn’t make sense on so many levels. And when something doesn’t make sense like that, someone’s lying. I would love to see some social media on mom and I’d venture to guess she’s big into gun control. And this happened right before the election?
“Police are working with the prosecutor’s office to determine what charges would apply.”
Yeah I’m curious what they come up with there. I wonder if we ever hear anything about this again.
Total BS…Anything besides .22LR and I might have considered it for a moment. Nobody is going to waste .22LR like that. If the MDA idiots had any clue, they would have put 5.56 in there instead.
The mother should teach her brat not be a greedy little bastard and take so many boxes.
Well, according to the mother in the video, the 4 boxes were inside a small, black plastic bag that was put into her kid’s larger paper bag for him – he didn’t actually “take” anything.
If such a small, black plastic bag was given to every kid, then it might help explain why only 1 kid was lucky enough to get ammo… perhaps only 1 bag had the prize?
I wish I could have got .22 ammo for Halloween. But I didn’t get that.
I got a rock.
Headlines: MDA supporter finds Gun Nuts trying to kill our children with bullets down their throats.
I smell something fishy with this story. …
No wonder I can’t find any .22LR ammo. Need to look in the candy aisle.
Would that be the “fun size” Milk Duds?
How many other children in the neighborhood came home with ammo in Milk Dud boxes?
I’m going to go out on a limb here, and guess it’s “zero”.
IF true: LOL!!! ONLY hoplophobes would bitch and whine about receiving/finding/discovering FREE AMMO!!!
xD
Oh lawd have mercy!! xD
Three rounds? That’s not even fun size; I call BS too. As scarce as .22 LR is no one would give it away.
It looks like they included some cases with those bullets.
22LR?? What’s the big deal…that’s a TREAT, not a trick!
i hope to god that article and these comments are all sarcasm and facetiousness.
