Every time you hear a politician or a media personality mention “gun violence,” you should mentally translate that phrase to “gang violence.” Not only that, but ask yourself if that politician or media outlet has an agenda by mislabeling gang violence as something entirely different.
Obviously politicians who have enabled the “criminal justice reforms” that have directly resulted in the out-of-control increases in violent crime across America don’t want to talk about criminals and gangs. In fact, California’s Gov. Newsom even went so far as to actuall apologize for using the word “gang” when describing the organized groups of criminals who commit crimes (otherwise known as ‘gangs’).
Rather than correctly identify those who commit the majority of violent crimes in this country, countless failed and inept politicians like the Land of Lincoln’s Governor J.B. Pritzker and Murder City, USA’s Mayor Lori Lightfoot instead blame law-abiding gun owners.
They continue to promote more gun control laws and more government spending to redirect peoples’ attention away from the failures of their feckless policies and misplaced spending priorities.
As for the media, there’s a reason the great majority of Americans don’t trust them any more. Nine percent of Americans now have “a great deal” of trust in what they hear in the media. To put that into perspective, roughly four percent of the population think lizard people “control our societies by gaining political power.”
Too many of today’s media members are nothing more than Democrat party operatives with bylines who dutifully spout leftist talking points. They willfully ignore stories that are bad for their political allies and their agenda. Or they cover them…with a pillow. Until they stop moving.

The next time you see some politician or candidate talking about the problem of so-called “gun violence,” call them out on it. Pols usually squirm if you make them address the real issue that drives the majority violent crime in cities: gangs.
In centers of corruption like Chicago, they may aggressively deflect the discussion away from gangs because a lot of gangs in places like Chi-town have some very cozy relationships with local elected officials to provide votes in exchange for the politicians avoiding discussions about gang-related crimes.

“Gun violence” is a perfectly useful and logical term. There is no interest, much less attempt, to corral “gang violence”, or “organized group violence”; too damn hard and dangerous. The term “gun violence” is designed to convey the meaning that the ~100,000,000 legal gun owners are the problem, the threat. And that the overwhelming majority of those legal gun owners are white people who are likely to mentally snap, and go around shooting the nice people in the places where nice people live and play.
The Dims believe that it will be safe and easy to take guns from those ready-to-snap legal gun owners. But I have this nagging suspicion that the gun-grabbers actually fear success at taking guns from law abiding people. That would end the political talking point.

I just keep hoping (probably foolishly) that the 2A community will recognize the other landscapes where the same tricks are used before it’s too late. There are forms of tyranny against which an armed society is, at best, a subpar defense and these things have been coalescing together for quite some time. When, as opposed to if, they come together in force people will either be forewarned and therefore forearmed or they will get rolled, hard.
At this point I suspect it’s the latter, in fact if these things were in to come into full effect on Monday most of the people on this very site would line up to turn in their guns within a month. The ones who protest my statement here the loudest would be closer to the front of the line because that knee-jerk reaction indicates the depth of ignorance (as opposed to idiocy, mind you) on the topic at hand. That’s not an insult, it’s a statement of fact. Single minded fidelity to the 2A is admirable but it is nonetheless myopic.
The upshot being that the people attempting to impose such things are incompetent and don’t even begin to understand the word “logistics”. As such they probably can’t bring all of it together correctly at the same time.
That has a variety of implication depending on how things work out over time. Ultimately the outcome ranges from suboptimal to a complete and utter fucking disaster, probably leaning towards the latter since incompetent people being incompetent they don’t know when to cut bait and fuck off to go do something else.
These are the things which weaponized psychology is meant to prepare the ground for and against which freedom-minded people, well *educated* people and busy people have the weakest defenses, which is exactly why such weapons are so powerful. They should get our attention but they are being run in the background in such a manner that they do not. But run they do and it’s a huge mistake to think that they are running for no reason.

It’s also worth noting that simply understanding how these things function is not sufficient. One also needs to delve pretty deeply into why these systems have been weaponized. This is, in and of itself, a trap laid by the very system such a person is trying to fight against. A trap meant to lay out bait which, if taken, will lead to that person mostly being discredited via a combination of mistakes on their part mixed with other people’s learned expectations and confirmation bias. Discrediting can occur even though the person is mostly correct in hindsight. Hell, in a lot of cases even if they’re 100% on-the-nose they sound nuts to most people.
Hence the argument I had last week here on TTAG about the survival of the US dollar. The person I had that discussion with thinks that sounds nuts, and maybe it is nuts since I make no claims to clairvoyance or omniscience, but what that person never did was say “OK, operationally define your terms and let’s hash this out” because saying that the dollar is on the chopping block does sound crazy-as-fuck in many regards. And mostly, I don’t care how it sounds because I’m not going to take the time to hash all of it out unless I’m explicitly asked to since this is not The Truth About Government Weaponization of Monetary Policy, it’s TTAG.
