A victory for sure but for Chicagoans who believe as Mr. McDonald believes, the fight is far from over.
Currently, the handgun ordinance erected after the ruling in June:
– No gun dealers/ranges permitted within city limits.
– Chicago Firearms Permit (CFP) (with $150 app. fee) required. Pre-req. is a signed affadavit from a state certified firearms instructor via a min. 5 hour class. Going rate for these is $125 – $150.
– Limit to 1 handgun per month. $15 reg. fee per gun.
– Limit to 1 functional firearm in your home.
– Firearm not permissible on person in garage, porch. In-home only.
Given Illinois' most populous city – Chicago – is by and large a blue city, the deciding factor is going to come from the independent and undecided voters in the surrounding suburbs. We'll see how it goes….. I'm casting my vote tomorrow – the last day of early voting.
I feel horrible. I don't want to vote for Brady, but I do like his stance on firearms. If people would just uphold the Bill of Rights, I wouldn't be in this position. I don't want to vote for Brady or Quinn.
