When we started our SIG Sauer P320 give-away, we thought we knew what to expect. We’d held a few content contests in the past and while the responses were always strong, the entries in those were but drops in a bucket compared to the deluge we’ve been mopping up here at TTAG central command. Not that we’re complaining. It’s just that, a little more than two weeks after the entry deadline, we’re still getting the occasional entry and some of you want to know who’s won? Well . . .
The plan has always been to post the best of the P320 entries we receive for your reading and commenting pleasure, then announce the champ. But with the synergistic combination of volume and quality, we’re still sifting through them. So we’re going to keep posting them over the next two weeks and announce the winner at the end of the month.
The people at SIG, though, were nice enough to allow us to give away a second pistol, and Nick announced earlier that we’ll do that via a random drawing among the aspiring scribes who’ve submitted their entries. So to make the suspense more bearable and hold you until the end of the month, we’ll put all of the names in an old rusty ammo can and draw one lucky Person of the Gun on Friday. Stay tuned.
Kudos…..great offer from SIG
I can wait a few more days….
Some really good entries posted from this contest.
Sure have been a lot of great postings for this. I regret I didn’t carve out the time to do one myself. Ahh maybe some day…
You’ve contributed some really great input to the site from what I’ve read of your stuff just through the normal comments vehicle. I’d love to see what you could do with a longer, stand-alone contest submission, if your commitments allow time for it next time around; but don’t sell yourself short. You’re a valuable contributor already.
I wish I had some extra ammo cans that were empty. Rusty or not.
All of mine are full.
John
Are you trying to say that there’s a party in your ammo can, and we’re invited?
Ok… here’s the fix – take that ammo… and give it to me – keep the can.
What can I say, I’m a problem solver, You’re welcome.
Yet another problem that can be fixed by a trip to the range!
Man, about the only problem a trip to the range can’t solve is cancer. Unless it turns out ball powder contains a powerful anti cancer agent.
Just out of curiosity, what percentage of entries are you publishing? If one’s entry is not published, is one disqualified?
I haven’t kept track, but I’d guess we’re publishing 40-50%. That’s an extremely high percentage, especially compared to past contests.
Thanks to Sig for providing the 2 guns. I will buy more Sig just for their generosity.
They can afford to be generous; they’re a successful company. They make great guns that command above-average prices, and deservedly so.
Good luck all. Always love these contests, though I fear I will need to start practicing a lot to EVER match up to the caliber of entries, haha.
Keep em’ coming. These articles have been a nice change of pace.
“Light at the end of the tunnel” my Aunt Fanny. I’m about to send you 3000 new entries that I wrote yesterday.
Hopefully there is another contest soon because I, too, have enjoyed reading most of the entries.
Me, too. I don’t think I’ve missed a single one of those published. It’s been fun commenting on those that were good and that I agreed with, as well as those that were good, but with which I disagreed. As they say, if you really want to learn something, teach it. Going point/counterpoint on articles is a great way to sharpen your writing and debating skills, as well as to examine more closely any disconnects and vagueries of one’s own position. So these have been a lot of fun all around. I just hope none of the late submissions are allowed to enter. Though we’ll never know if it’s happened, it would be dishonest nonetheless.
I haven’t really seen any submissions that specifically counter the viewpoint of another submission, though. That’s only come haphazardly in the comments. I’d like to see any submissions that specifically tackle the same subject as another submission, but reaches a different conclusion. It would add an interesting twist to the underlying topic to see two independent, contrasting submissions on the same topic.
So this contest is based on luck, not content and writing ability?? If so, then I should have entered.
Can I still submit something?
Sorry, deadline was the end of May.
What would be really nice, is if Sig manages to get these into the gun stores. My LGS has no idea when Sig will send them some P320’s.
There has been some really great entries. Picking the random name is going to be the easy part for you guys.
It’d be nice if TTAG notified you whether your submission made the cut or not. I assume the “Thanks for that” response means no, but still. I like certainty.
I guess they didn’t specify which Friday they would draw a name! 🙂
I am glad to see I wasn’t the only one that had to come back and read the post again.
It’s like Ozark time, “oh, did you mean this Friday?”
