Ah, those crazy Frenchmen. The UK’s dailymail.co.uk is reporting that our Irresponsible Gun Owner of the Day on Monday turns out to be Romain Rabillard who, for the moment anyway, is a “senior adviser” to German gunmaker Heckler & Koch. That’s him, second from the left in the photo, above. “He recently advised them on a multi-million pound refinancing deal, regularly meeting with Heckler & Koch representatives in France and Germany.” If prosecuted, he could face a seven year prison stretch for his loose gunhandling practices. Good luck keeping that H&K gig, Romy.

  1. I thought he was a she and the first on on the left!
Oh well guess he better look for a new job now!

  2. I doubt it. H&K is no stranger to legal problems, themselves.

Was he brandishing a H&K? That would make stuff so much funnier.

  3. This is Europe, he was bouncing with Royalty, he will be given a pass as the rich, influential or politically connected consistently do in Europe.

  4. Is it just me? Or, does the attractive one have an unsetteling bloodthirsty look in her eyes as she is nibbling on his mandible?

  5. “Thatโ€™s him, second from the left in the photo, above.”
    — Kinda guessed that. Who is the second woman from the right who is doing the biting?

    from the linked story:
“The emergence of Mr Rabillard’s name comes as police in the French capital said they were ordered to ‘downscale’ the enquiry into the Pippa incident following ‘an intervention from London’.

He has been ‘lying low’ since pictures of the incident were published, said a close friend, and was today absent from his desk at Shearman and Sterling, the American law firm based on the Champs Elysee.”

  6. Every time I hear about France I can’t help but think of one of my favorite jokes:

Why do the French plant trees along the streets?

So the Germans can march in the shade.

    Damn that cracks me up……

  7. Some things are universal…like the potential consequences of acting a fool and showing off for a car-load of pretty girls.

Still, who can blame him for pointing a gun at the paparazzi, there’s no law against shooting cockroaches, even in France…is there?

In all seriousness, though, he will probably get a pass. Its sad to see that the double standard for Royalty is still in effect. If this were just some average Frenchman they probably would have guillotined him by now. Well, maybe not the Guillotine, but he would be sitting in cell by now. And he probably ought to be. Waving a gun around and threatening people is pretty serious business.

In a side note: does anyone remember how Shocked the French media were when Dominique Strass Kahnn was arrested and given a Perp-walk when he got busted in NY for getting frisky with the maid? That was something to see.

  8. Unfamiliar with French law, but even if its a replica firearm, does anyone know if France has a law requiring toy guns to have a orange colored safety tip like similar country’s? Is He in violation on that also if its a toy like He contends?

    • Orange is not required, but brandishing a replica is still punished severely under french law.

  9. If you look at the picture, he’s not brandishing an H&K. I’m not sure what it is (looks a little like a MAB15 or some kind of CZ) but it’s not USP or P30, that’s for sure. That alone, I think, is a firing offense.

  10. This Frenchie was not employed by HK. He works at the Paris office of the large US law firm Shearman & Sterling, which was involved in advising HK on a business deal that’s all. Just more rich kid schenanigans.
