Recipe for busted magazines: Place a quantity of water in a cheap ice chest from the local supermarket. Add magazines, ensuring that they are completely submerged. Salt heavily with sea salt. Let sit for two weeks. Serves one AR-15.

Yes, we’ve finally started our promised torture test of the plastic AR-15 magazines. This test is going to take a couple of months to complete, but I figured I should give you guys a heads up that it’s finally off the ground.

Rest assured I did in fact hear your cries for a control magazine in the comments from last time, and so I’ve thrown a couple US issued USGI magazines along with the plastic magazines. I only have two, though, so it won’t be replaced if it fails during normal testing; instead it’ll skip right to the API impact testing.

The magazines are marinating in their briny stew, hopefully corroding as we speak. What horrors will we see when the chest is opened in a fortnight? And more importantly, will they still function? Stay tuned.

Same Bat time? Same Bat channel?

  2. It’s been almost 11 months since the test began.
How did it go? Can you post a link to the test conclusion/report?
Or let us know if the project was scrapped, move on, etc.
    Thank you.
