The big bullet boys at Barrett have a new gun with which to run. “Chambered in .338 Lapua Mag., the MRAD weighs less than 15 pounds, or roughly half of a Model 82A1,” shootingillustrated.com reports. “A side-folding stock helps even more with portability, but make no mistake, this rifle is built for long-range engagements. Its 7000-series aluminum upper receiver has a 21.75-inch length of Picatinny rail with a 30 MOA taper, and the stock’s length of pull and cheek piece height is adjustable.” SI’s testing the rifle. [Note to Nick: ask and ye shall receive. Note to Barrett: I would’ve gone with Battlestar Gallactica’s catchphrase “by your command”.]

  1. I think I would sell my firstborn to use that rifle at Quantico.

Time to fire up the charm and email these guys. I wonder if they’ll be at the NRA convention…

  2. You’ll need a very generous “official” ammo supplier to feed that baby all the .338s she’s gonna want.

  3. Anyone know the story on the new muzzle brake? It isn’t the same as the classic Barrett triangle looking one.
