Mr. NWPrepped (IG = @nwprepped) sends this submission entitled “New Leatherman T4” via Everyday Carry.

In addition to the gun (Glock 43 with a spare ETS mag – gotta love those transparent-body magazines!), and his new Leatherman T4 (blade?), he carries a Streamlight Pro-tac 1L single AA battery light.  All the basics.

And a SOFTT-W tourniquet.

Who has time for keys, wallet, and whatnot?

    • I had a horrible experience with my 30x ETS mags I bought when they came out. Bought ’em for USPSA.

Cool factor is there, they are butter smooth in and out of the magwell… but the junk springs and follower geometry caused issues. . I emailed ETS, they were polite and sent new springs… that were just as snaggly as the old ones. Sold the mags at a loss. Can’t trust them for games, definitely can’t trust them for carry

Stick with factory Glock mags. They’re the gold standard in pistol mags.

  1. Actually I’ve had nothing but issues with G42 ETS mags. The follower is too short up front and can tilt backward causing all manner of problems. Tried to work with ETS but after replacement followers did he same thing, they said it’s just the design.
I’m not sure if the G43 here suffers from this same issue, but I decided to just stick with factory mags for the G42.

  2. Disregard my previous comment….. Maybe it’s just the way Glock magazines are, but the first round in that magazine in the picture appears to be tilted to the back too far for proper function….I don’t own a Glock…. Yet…

  3. You’re almost always better off with factory mags for everything. An exception is Wilson Rogers 7 rd 1911 mags. I must have at least 50 of them. Zero problems.

    • Agreed. One advantage of Glock is ……Glock mags.

They are economical and tough as nails. Plastic over metal is a good combination.

Also agree on Wilson 45 mags.

I would add that anything from MecGar is top notch.

      • Used Glock factory mags are also almost always available for about 1/3rd the price of new from Aim Surplus and others from PD trade ins. Just as good as new.

  4. I’ve been wondering about these ETS mags for my G19 and Sub2000. They seem to have a pretty decent reputation. I generally prefer to stick with factory mags.

    • I have 2 ets mags I run in my gen 5 19, one flush 15 round and a 22 rounder. Never had any problems with them. Both past the 500 round range test perfectly. I do carry a spare factory mag.

    • For the Sub2K I’ve never had an issue with any of the larger capacity Magpul mags.

  5. I use only factory mags for my EDC; just too paranoid to do otherwise. HOWEVER, I did test and end up extending all of my EDC mags with the Vickers plus 2 for the Glock 43. They have been flawless, but it has only been a year. Yes, yes, I know, why purchase a small pistol and make it bigger? Well, as I learned to handle the 43, I realized the grip was too short. So, extend the magazine and extend the grip. Now, I can hit the broadside of most barns…at least on a good day. LOL!!
No, really, extending the grip vastly improved my accuracy.

  6. Off topic. Shooting at Gilroy Garlic Festival. Report of 11 down (wounded? Dead?). I was there and left a few hours before the shooting. Security consisted of 2 cops on parking duty about .5 miles from the entrance gate. They had some disinterested kids casually checking some people’s bags as they went in but you could walk by them and they wouldn’t stop you. Christmas Hill park is likely a gun free zone. Given that it happened shortly before close, I’m guessing gang related

    • Oh geez, this could be bad 2 shooters. Police scan was fuzzy. Either 15-16 or 50-60.

Also, only one entrance/exit. Wide open field/areas. Bottleneck to the exit

      • SF bay area doesnt issue concealed carry permits. It as probably 5-10 mins of free reign.

Friends blew a tire on the way home. Saw a huge number of ambulances going towards the festival. Said no 0rivate company EMT’s allowed. Suggesting they dont have the tactical gear for a current active shooter

    • According to the la times: white man in his early to mid-30s firing a rifle that was “able to shoot three to four shots a second.

  7. A shooting in CA GF zone that’s Un-possible!
What does “Duke nukem swallows- Well” have to say about the subject?

  8. Shooter jumped onto a stage and fired into the crowd. If my kid didnt get fussy. I wouldn’t have left. I would’ve been in the area likely close to the stage, but farther away from the main crowd.

  9. This must be his after work carry. I have 18 yrs in Ohio corrections and you can’t bring that stuff on State property. the flashlight ya.

  10. There are lots of wonderful and different engineering plastics, but I would always want metal feed lips on a mag.

I bought a couple MecGar magazine recently, and they work perfectly.
