Just noticed that Monday April 15 on Turner Classic Movies seems to be GUN DAY…LOL…Whoever is doing programming for the channel seems to want to insert themselves into the gun control debate. 1. Wait, TURNER classic movies? Even though I dislike Mr. Turner and his positions, that station is the only reason we’re keeping cable TV.

  2. Well I am now! Lol. Seriously, Thanks for the heads up. I have the day off so I’ll be watching a few of these while writing my daily love letters to my “fearless leaders” aka “idiots”.

  3. Well, crud. I’m a window clerk at our local post office, and if I play hookey on Tax Day my supervisor might be a wee bit peeved.

  4. … looks like a good day to call in sick, heat up some wings and nachos, mix a few gin and toxics and do the coach potato thing …

Dayum! And I just took last Thursday afternoon off to FOSP. Bad planning on my part. 🙂

  5. It’s a hidden political protest. Gun programming on television which happens to be the same day as tax day.

  6. I am watching a “Fistful of Dollars” right now and then, “The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly” on blu-ray. Tomorrow “For a Few Dollars More” also on blu-ray.

Nothing like owning the old Westerns on blu-ray but DVDs will work as well.

  7. I had my heart set on guber goes to the White House, I guess a western will do, Randy

  8. DVR cleared, DVR set. I am off but that only means I have work to do around the house cleaning up the winter mess.

  9. Ted Turner is a left-wing lunatic, but he deserves the Congressional Medal of Freedom for TCM. An absolutely perfect station (well, except for Commie Ben Mankiewicz, but he usually behaves).

Winchester ’73 is one of my favorites. Great cast (Jimmy Stewart, Millard Mitchell and an impishly insane Dan Duryea), great scenes and great dialogue.

  10. Great lineup! They should add “The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance.” Western roughneck Wayne shows east coast intellectual pacifist Stewart how to handle a bully with a gun.
