Most of our questions of the day are aimed at the Armed Intelligentsia. Taking the pulse of our readers as it were. But after PoliceOne.com’s revealing poll results (querying over 15,000 cops on the subject of gun control), we thought it might be informative to get President Obama’s reaction. After all, the Prez and the rest of the Civilian Disarmament Industrial Complex take every opportunity to use cops as props — some willing, some not — to push their cause. And let’s face it . . . we’re not likely to hear anyone from MSNBC stand up at a presser and press the POTUS on the topic. But the survey results show that almost 92% of the boys in blue think an assault weapons ban would have either zero or a negative impact on violent crime. So, Mr. President, who knows more about reducing violent crime on the streets: the cops who pound the pavement or you?
Want the list of people who know more about anything relating to guns than Obama? Here’s the phone book.
William F. Buckley (a Yale alum) used to say he’d rather pick 2000 random names out of the Boston phone book to run the government than entrust the task to the Harvard faculty. What we have today is government by the Harvard faculty (academics). Mr. Buckley was a wise man.
I won’t concede his wisdom until I know what he thought of Yale’s faculty. Their turn in government hasn’t helped us out much, either.
I went to Harvard and I agree with Buckley
Well for the record, the last president with ties to neither Harvard nor Yale was President Reagan (Eureka College). The big stinky BO got his JD at Harvard, W. had degrees from both Harvard and Yale, Clinton got his JD from Yale, and H.W. was a Yale man.
I’d say at this point we could use someone with a GED.
Yes, I despise the dynastic quality of it. I can certainly see how those institutions contribute to the out-of-touch nature of those members of the political caste.
I’d be ecstatic for a POTUS with absolutely NO formal education but who instead had integrity and honor enough to at least “try” to follow the US Constitution.
the 20% who think it will have a negative impact is certainly interesting.
I’m trying to go back and remember stats class, but doesn’t the design of this survey skew to favor gun control? (Two positive choices–significant and moderate, vs. only one negative?)
If so, that makes these results speak even louder. The fact that so many cops view an AWB as a negative vs so few viewing it as a positive tells me that there are plenty of voices out there who can help our cause. If only the grabbers would listen…
The grabbers will never listen. There is no other legitimate opinion when the opinion of dissenters doesn’t matter. If the polls don’t support their plans, the grabbers ignore them, dismiss them, or employ a biased, unscientific counter poll.
Our grabber “leader” Obama uses his elitist despotistic methods and sympathetic media accomplices to crush any opposition. In that way he operates like any other dictator such as Stalin, Tito, Hitler and the rest.
Too bad about that troublesome United States Constitution and those who believe in it’s truth and values.
I’d like to ask the 227 who answered “Significant”, so exactly what sort of impact would it have on crime?

This poll will demonstrate the ability of the left wing media complex to cover up the news, as opposed to reporting it.
It’s up to us to bypass them, and make sure the word keeps getting out.
+1. Pass it on to friends and ask them to do same.

An Army of Davids…can defeat the State Run Media Goliath.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/An_Army_of_Davids
Where shall we find an Army of Davids in this country filled with Herod’s and Judas’?
I found the bit about civilian carriers to be the most enlightening.
Doesn’t mean they won’t still enforce any laws they are told to enforce. Like they good little followers they are, they will keep putting citizens in jail for victimless “crimes”.
This is why La Bamba won’t ask the opinion of duty cops on the issue of the day. His M.O. is to find police chiefs – paper-pushing PUBLIC RELATIONS officers – who share his ideas. Funny thing – they’re not too hard to find.
Sympathetic police chiefs are easy to find because too many of them are politicians looking to advance their personal careers. Basking in the presidential limelight adds to their resume, regardless of the legitimacy of the cause.
Y’know, I’m becoming progressively less pleased with Obama lin Biden.
I doubt MSM will report this.
Ya think?
Interestingly- Instapundit, God of the Bloggers, author of Army of Davids, linked to a mention of the survey at Daily Caller, a day after TTAG broke the news. And updated it later with a comment from a reader.
http://dailycaller.com/2013/04/10/survey-shows-law-enforcement-united-against-gun-control/
And earlier, WSJ’s excellent James Taranto noted it in Best of the Web …

The Policeone survey made it to Washington Times.
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2013/apr/9/survey-law-enforcement-professionals-say-gun-restr/
Nothing on Washington Post.
(Wont waste my time with the fish-wrap NYT…)
Made it to Fox yesterday:
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/04/09/survey-law-enforcement-officers-find-majority-dont-agree-with-obama-gun-control/
Nothing found Googling PoliceOne survey with CNN or MSNBC.
The anti 2nd Amendment media is in full tilt, if you feel like fighting for your 2nd Amendment rights you need to confront these liberal tools like this leftist Isaac Bailey who is definitely in “a different world” than sane people by making this insane comparison that guns should be banned because knives are safer.
http://thesunnews.typepad.com/a_different_world/2013/04/man-stabs-14-at-texas-college-would-things-have-been-worse-had-he-taken-an-assault-rifle-instead-of-.html
Ah, so now it’s a *good* thing when 14 people get stabbed. These guys are brilliant, aren’t they.
lead article this morning, before the stabbings, was two four year olds, two guns, and two deaths (one of whom was a LEO’s wife). Stacking the deck, just a bit. Also reported was the AF1 trips by Newton parents to lobby Congreff.
Saul you’re absolutely right about the plainly uninformed blind biases of the mainstream media.
For example: I used to like Scott Pelley with 60 Minutes and now CBS Nightly News. But either he has radically changed or he has been overpowered and co-opted by the influences of his collectively anti gun colleagues and management.
That’s a sad testament and outcome for one who was once a reasonably fair presenter and commentator of newsworthy events. Now Pelley just follows the Democrat party line. He only reluctantly offers slight acknowledgment of major legitimate opposition to the attempt to force subversively confiscatory and ineffective laws down the throats of millions of decent law abiding citizens.
That’s a great loss for truth in reporting.
Obama is thinking a zillion moves ahead in 11 dimensional chess while everyone else is playing checkers. Of course Obama knows better. He is the smartest man in the universe.
Obama is thinking a zillion moves ahead in 11 dimensional chess while everyone else is playing checkers.
I love how that works as sarcasm and as a straightforward criticism. At all times Obama either has his head jammed up his ass and he’s not thinking at all, or he’s overthinking a game nobody else is even playing.
I have to admit that this is a damn good stat.
Even super-pessimistic me who thinks the MFM will bury every pro 2A stat, this is a very damning stat that will be hard to bury (but they will do their best/worse anyway)
The REALLY damning stat is that 3X as many cops think that an AWB would WORSEN violent crime.
Who’s buries what where in the MFM you refer to? ROFL. Is that the right TLA (Three Letter Acronym)?
Don’t know exactly what your asking but…..
MFM = MFing Media
Hahahaha, this needs to be the new TLA for the MSM. Lets get on this RFN.
Enough acronyms yet?
I’d like to see a state by state breakdown of how the cops voted. Something tells me most cops in blue states are in favor of more gun control.
I think you’re probably right.
I’d revise that to say most of the cops in favor of gun control are from blue states, not that most cops in blue states are for gun control. After all, when Massachusetts was trying to ban handguns in the 70’s, cops in the state were against the idea 80-20. I know a lot of NY State Troopers and they want nada to do with the SAFE act. Add to that it was denounced by the NY Sheriff’s association.
I don’t know what better supporting argument we could have….
I send a news tip about this to every paper I could think of from SF, Chicago, Dallas, DC, NYC, Orlando.
Keep bombarding them with this story so it makes it into the MSM headlines.
So, is this a common sense survey, or what?
The key action recommended by the majority of the police community is more armed
civiliansfirst responders .Well, it looks like the senate has the votes to pass some of the gun control bills. This is NOT good news for us. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/04/09/gun-control-reform_n_3046182.html?ncid=edlinkusaolp00000003
President Barack Obama was spending Tuesday calling senators to lobby them on the gun measures, a White House official confirmed
At least eight Republican senators said that they would support bringing the measures to the Senate floor for amendment and debate. Should those numbers hold, Reid will have the 60 votes needed to move forward on gun policy reform.
I read elsewhere they would just consider them Leo, Randy
A lot of disinformation out there I guess. Who knows what is really going on. At least we will know what happens this week and hopefully we can put this behind us and move on to other assaults on our freedom by POS-OTUS.
Randy is right–all that is dead right now is any attempted filibuster. What I can’t understand is how they expect to cut off debate TONIGHT and vote on Thursday, as I’ve read Reid wants to do. There are still plenty of votes to defeat all the measures, unless Obama is good at twisting arms.
Real Problems: Economy, Corruption, Healthcare, Immigrants
Obama Priority: Gun Control, Pseudo Sequester, North Korea.
Can we please take back this country? Like now…
