“People criticize, sometimes, these events. They say we don’t get the right guns off the street, but the likelihood of these guns being turned in by somebody’s parent is much greater than being turned in by one of the gang-bangers.” – Chicago Police Supt. Garry McCarthy [via suntimes.com]

  1. I wish there were somplace I could turn in my son’s busted Remingto Pump pellet rifle, for cash.

  2. I wish that Garry McCarthy would turn his brain in for one that works. Is he the world’s biggest jerk, or am I underestimating his jerkness?

    • That is interesting, Boris. It points to the government attitude that ‘they’ own everything and we just rent stuff from ‘them.’

  3. If we are talking about government buy backs, I believe any General Motors vehicle would accurately fit the guidelines. So if you have a crappy GM vehicle, ask the government to buy it back. However, I like the idea of being able to get rid of all the junk guns that you can’t/won’t sell otherwise.

  4. From the joke of an article:

Jean Jones, 64, unwrapped her handgun delicately from a towel she pulled out of a large brown purse. It was her late husband’s weapon, and she had never handled it before.

“That’s a killer right there. That small gun,” said Chicago Police Sgt. Kevin Johnson, a member of the citywide Anti-Gun Enforcement Team. “It’s a North American Arms .22 caliber,” Johnson said. “That bullet is so small it will bounce. It will travel and you’ll have internal bleeding going throughout your body.”

Good God, that article is nothing but incompetent police and idiot citizens who’re terrified of inanimate objects. Can’t we just nuke Chicago and make the world a better place? Pretty please?
