        What she believes disgusts me, but I respect her for being upfront about it. Unlike folks like Watts and Bloomberg who lie and deceive to get what they want.

      • Johannes, you’re confusing conservative with Republican (note that I said liberal and not Democrat). There are a lot of Republicans that are dishonest, but conservatives have no reason for dishonesty. A Republican says they’ll cut taxes and lower spending but a conservative actually believes in small government. They’d get nowhere saying they’re going to expand the welfare state and raise taxes while gutting our military and then getting in office and doing the exact opposite. Liberals on the other hand have to hide their agenda because they’re agenda is unpopular.

  6. So she supports the Jim Crow laws that disarmed blacks in the south that kept them defenseless against the KKK .

    She supports keeping her majority black constituents defenseless against a majority of black criminals that prey upon primarily a black population.

    So she is by definition a tyrant and a dictator that a majority of her black constutuents placed in power because they want to be abused, raped, robbed, assaulted and murderered without a legal ability to defend themselves.

    It’s what I have said for a while; subconsciously, most people like being slaves. We wouldn’t have slavery world wide for most of recorded history otherwise.

      • I think he’s saying that most people are followers. They want a leader to tell them what to do. They don’t wan tto be responsible for their own lives and decisions. They want someone else to take care of everything for them, even if it restricts their liberty.

        Few people have the will to say: “Give me liberty or give me death” and then be willing to back that up with a self-directed life.

        It’s the sheep-like, slave-like, child-like, easily-led mentality of most of the human population which makes the crappy world we have possible. If most people had a strong will toward independence it would be too costly and difficult for any tyrant to gain or maintain power for more than a week at a time. But instead we have a few freedom loving people surrounded by slaves and people begging to have chains slapped back on them.

    • I never thought I’d say this, but I’m glad to live in Maryland. We’ve got a pro-gun governer now, so maybe we’ll have some positive change for the cause of freedom.

      It’s really sad that the district that is meant to be the shining star of the nation has such a farcical government.

        • This was an important early event toward my eventual realization that leftists have no sense of shame or honor. For years I would be amazed that you could have them absolutely dead to rights, yet they wouldn’t budge an inch, and their Prog constituents would continue to vote for them. It’s not that they don’t believe their leaders are crooked as hell, it’s that they just don’t care as long as a given agenda is being pushed. It’s a foreign concept for Americans, but it’s just how Progs think. I always knew this at some level, but full gut realization came slowly.

  15. So she seems to have declared that she intends to order the police chief not to issue any conceal carry permits. After all, “may issue” means “no issue” if that is what the current ruling class wants. That is the way it is in Massachusetts. It depends on what the 350 city and town councils order the police chief to do. 350 different criteria for issuing over and above the minimum requirements set by the state.

    So you can bet dollars to donuts that she has already ordered the DC police chief not to issue any conceal carry permits.
    Of course, we know she doesn’t really hate guns. If she did, she would disarm her personal security unit and the DC police.

  16. Elections matter. The residents of the District got exactly the type of mayor for whom they voted.

    #BlackLivesMatter – except in the District, where the mayor will execute the laws and constitution in the most-restrictive manner possible, thereby preventing law-abiding, majority-black residents from defending themselves in the area that boasts the highest murder rate in the country.

As a gunowner living in DC, I thank Gura et. al. for leading the legal challenge to finally restore my right to own a handgun, and the indefatigable Emily Miller for hectoring the DC gov’t in the press until they (somewhat) streamlined the onerous and self-contradictory firearms licensing process. As Bowser’s admission demonstrates, our natural, civil, and Constitutionally-recognized right to self-defense is something that DC begrudges its citizens, far preferring to stick to their usual business of doling out graft, buying votes, and mouthing trendy slogans so they get invited to the right parties.* The DC council cares not a whit for rights of any sort, only in taking their turn at the public teat and spending other people’s money. One would be hard-pressed to find a purer example of self-interested, hypocritical, punitive machine politics anywhere outside of Delware or Chicago.

    *I have no evidence of criminal wrongdoing in the current administration, but precedent suggests that my suspicions to that effect will not end up being unwarranted.
