“Three millions of people, armed in the holy cause of liberty, and in such a country as that which we possess, are invincible by any force which our enemy can send against us. Beside, sir, we shall not fight our battles alone. There is a just God who presides over the destinies of Nations, and who will raise up friends to fight our battles for us. The battle, sir, is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave.” – Patrick Henry
Happy Independence Day
Let Freedom Ring
Life, Liberty, Equality. These are more than just words. It is the very ideals by which our country was founded. GOD BLESS this nation, and all those who have, and do serve today.
DUTY, HONOR, and COUNTRY!
I’ll give you life, but liberty and equality? There will never be liberty as long as man lives under a government. Equality? In the States? One just needs to take a quick glimpse to see there is no equality. So yeah. God bless America.
troll harder plz
I’m not trolling. America is not the land of equality. No country is, but no other country makes the ridiculous claim.
America never claimed to be a land where all men _were_ equal, only one where all men were _created_ equal. That is, that all men were given by their Creator the same blessings of humanity.
Even discounting issues like race, some men are tall, some are short. Some have poor eyesight, some are more clever, or any other number of variables inherent in birth. So in a purely practical sense, we are not even created equal. That is not what the Founders meant.
The idea is that you can come here and be anything, if only you try. Is it perfect? No, but look at Cambodians and Vietnamese, coming here with nothing, or Chinese arriving in cargo containers and somehow putting their children through college.
I don’t know how many people I’ve talked to on calls whose parents were illegal immigrants (mostly from Mexico), but worked hard all their lives, and raised children that turned out to be good, decent people, but it’s a lot. Some of those children are not as interested in being Americans as immigrants from generations past, but most of them are just like the rest of us.
Regular folks, with regular jobs and regular families. People whose parents still might not speak English, but came here anyway because they had hope, and gave their children the chance at the American dream. Point out another place on this planet where people with nothing but the will to work can do better.
So yes, but this time without the sarcasm, God Bless America.
@Hasdrubal
People in the States discriminate those that go there for a better life. Either they pay them less than the average or they don’t hire them at all. People get stared down for being anything but white and speaking anything but english.
MelQ, why do they still come?
@jwm
For the money. People are willing to put up with a lot of BS to put food on the table.
MelQ, then I submit that they are coming to the better place if they can feed their families here but not where they started from. It’s hard to support a low opinion of this country when people risk all, even death to get here.
@jwn
True, the US is better in a few ways to the countries of origin of the immigrants. But that doesn’t mean it’s all sunshine and rainbows. The treatment of immigrants in the US is atrocious.
Treatment of immigrants is “atrocious”…Hell!…the treatment of Natural Born American Citizens is atrocious!
Sadly, far too few Americans actually know what constitutes the true meaning of Natural Born Citizen. John Jay, the 1s Supreme Court Justice, is credited with writing Article Two of the Constitution. Those that created the USA were fearful that persons of foreign-born parents would be the Commander-In-Chief of the armed forces. Vattel’s International Law was the universal standard of common law way back then and was used to define this term.
Of course, one of the current methods to circumnavigate the Constitution is to redefine terms and phrases in that sacred document. Most think “Citizen” and “Natural Born Citizen” are synonymous terms. They are not. A Natural Born Citizen is the prodigy of two citizens of a nation. In layman terms both mommy and daddy have to be citizens of a nation for their children to be natural born.
Thanks for clarifying the definition of Natural Born Citizen, which I wrongly assumed most people probably understood. I would include all Citizens Natural Born or Naturalized, actually.
“Of course, one of the current methods to circumnavigate the Constitution is to redefine terms and phrases in that sacred document.” This, sadly, is all too true and one of the methods the Socialist Progressives are using to turn The Republic into a Socialist Welfare State.
Jefferson only wrote that all men were “created” equal. He never claimed they stayed that way or even that such a thing might be desirable.
Why wouldn’t it be desirable?
Happy Independence Day to You All!
Happy Independence Day All.
Amen
Happy Independence Day, everyone.
As we give thought to the great sacrifices of those who stood firmly in the face of Tyranny, proclaiming a new kind of Justice, desiring a Revolutionary System of Freedom, let us remember that it was Not by Mans Virtue alone their victory, to not just our benefit, was attained; It was to the Almighty, in his Undeserved kindness, that they found Refuge and Strength, to stand without fear, they gave their lives. The reward was then Given, as a Gift so as to repay a debt, for they acted Iin Faith in he whom the promise was made, and he whom the promise was delivered.
Remember always:
One Nation, Under God, with Liberty and Justice for All.
Only after 1954. Apparently, those who believed in freedom from the imposition from guvmint-sponsored religion were not able to be “real” ‘Mericans after that. Check it out: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pledge_of_Allegiance
Organized religion has no part in true Faith. Faith supercedes all others influence in the intent of a organized religion. As one who is generally not taking of pledges, nor making them, I see it only as a direct acknowledgement there of.
Whether otrnot it is included in the original text or not, we know that it is intended by those who founded the purpose it states.
“Organized religion has no part in true Faith. Faith supercedes all others influence in the intent of a organized religion. As one who is generally not taking of pledges, nor making them, I see it only as a direct acknowledgement there of.”
So true; one’s religion and practice of it has no place being instituted into law and the practice thereof.
Men of faith, no matter which faith, or indeed the absence of said faith, have no reason to impose said faith (or lack or absence of it) upon other citizens.
Happy Independence Day to all of you! Thanks for upholding the value of Liberty and Rights for everyone!
Happy Independence Day. And thank you to all those who fight to keep us that way.
Happy Independence Day!
happy independence day. It was not accomplished with a sit-in.
As i revisited the Declaration of Independence today it became rather obvious that history does, indeed, repeat itself. Seemingly we have replaced one oppressive, destructive government with yet another.

God save the king!
“Good morning. Good morning. In less than an hour, aircraft from here will join others from around the world, and you will be launching the largest aerial battle in the history of mankind. Mankind, that word should have new meaning for all of us today. We can’t be consumed by our petty differences any more. We will be united in our common interest. Perhaps it’s fate that today is the 4th of July, and you will once again be fighting for our freedom. Not from tyranny, oppression, or persecution, but from annihilation. We’re fighting for our right to live, to exist, and should we win the day, the 4th of July will no longer be known as an American holiday, but as the day when the world declared in one voice, ‘We will not go quietly into the night! We will not vanish without a fight! We’re going to live on, we’re going to survive.’ Today we celebrate our independence day!”
Haha Independence Day FTW!
Excellent!
Thank you.
Live free, or die. Death is not the worst of evils.
Happy Independence Day, everyone.
Frankly, I’m a little put off by that “God” stuff, unless you’re talking about the God Whose name is Free Will. I don’t believe any invisible supreme being ever intervenes on anyone’s behalf, and if there is one who does, it isn’t “God.”
Freedom is my Worship Word!
Read the Declaration of Independence (you all have a copy of that, plus the Constitution, right?). Read it carefully. The men who wrote the Declaration also wrote the Constitution. There are several Rights mentioned in the Declaration, but only one DUTY. When you find that Duty, read the Second Amendment to the Constitution in the light of the only Duty mentioned in the Declaration of Independence.
