It’s almost hard to recall how the left howled about “civility” in the wake of the Tucson shooting horror. But that was then, and the standards the left sets for the right is one it hardly adheres to. We had Vice President Joe Biden’s now-denied comments casting Republicans in the role of “terrorists.” And then the hometown newspaper for liberal elites got into the act…

Another conservative reader observed, “Remember how everyone wanted to tone down the rhetoric and use more civilized language. Now, we’re calling people terrorist and criminals. I guess ‘terrorist’ and ‘jihadist’ are only politically incorrect when they’re used to refer to actual terrorists and jihadists.”

Never let a crisis (or a mass-shooting) go to waste.

  1. Republicans have said it about Democrats, and so it goes. The truth is that both Republicans and Democrats are terrorists. They try to create terror among the citizens so that we can be more easily manipulated and controlled. Last week, the Dems were telling senior citizens that they wouldn’t be getting their Social Security checks this week because of the Republicans. That was terrorism. Now, the Republicans are telling us that our country is in danger because of the budget cuts affecting the military. That’s terrorism, too.

If the Department of Homeland Security was actually doing its job, the House and Senate would be meeting in Gitmo.

      • +1, But it seems that the left makes more extensive use of the old saying; “If you can’t bedazzle them with brilliance, them befuddle them with bulls**t.”, through fear, like the commercial that was made that featured a faceless, suit wearing, conservative throwing grandma out of her wheelchair and off of a cliff. Correct me if I’m wrong, but the right doesn’t seem to pull those sort of stunts.

Tired of the Republicans and Democrats, period.

Both are trying to sell me the same old shit sandwich.

One is offering me shit on wheat, the other, shit on white.

          But it all just stinks.

And yes..both the “Left” and the “Right” pull the same nonsense. A politician is a politician.

        • Umm, no. Both parties a guilty of the same crappy rhetoric. Heck, Mitch McConnell described the budget problem as a “hostage worth ransoming.”

  2. I can make the case that defense spending is Constitutional and a legitimate budget item.

The same cannot be said for Social Security, NEA, ATF, DEA, EPA, Farm Subsidies, Welfare, Medicare, Medicaid, etc.

    • Many feel that those are constitutional under the “promote general welfare” idea. True, Madison did not see it that way, but Hamilton did. Even the founding fathers could not agree on original intent.

      • “Promoting the general welfare” referred to roads, canals, etc. It did not mean taking money from the productive and giving it to the useless.

Even the founding fathers could not agree on original intent?

That has to be the single most inane sentence I’ve ever seen.

The Founders disagreed but they darn well knew what the original intent was.

  3. We need to vote out EVERY incumbent until the people in there do what we actually want. Republican and Democrat are just names. They’re perfectly happy to trade power back and forth while creating the illusion that they stand for different things.
