      • You say that, but when my folks got their pool replastered they had to remove the (awesome) 1 meter springboard and install some kind of stupid, fixed 4 foot plank. Even though there were no minor children with access.

        • Davis, Ca. So it was an exceptionally California part of California. No idea of the origin of the ordinance however. I’m still bitter about it 20 years later though, the springboard was awesome, the plank not so much.

    • To all of the pool comments, Connecticut actually has very tough restrictions on pools. You know thoes inflatable ones you get at WalMart for about $200 and are about 3 feet deep? Yep in CT you need to have them or your yard fenced in, regardless of the fact that its your peoperty and you may not have kids. Non-compliance is violation of zonning laws.

Funny how all the bad crap happens where the laws are tough.

  1. Because one life is worth violating the rights of millions!

Actually Joe, if you really believed that bullshit, you’d end the drone strikes against civilians in the Middle East.

    • True! That’d save both american and foreign lives.

But, we all know this is what he meant to say: “Even if we can only save one life, we have to take action… unless it negatively impacts bankster profits.”

    • Sets his sights kind of low, doesn’t he. He only wants to save 1 life while we’ve been talking about saving hundreds if not thousands of lives.

  2. So universal right to carry is on the table, since that is only thing that has been shown to reduce “gun” deaths or “gun” crimes? On a related note, how does an inanimate object die or commit a crime?

    • It’ll also find that all cars should be limited to a maximum speed of 30 mph because four times more people die in car accidents than are killed with a gun each year.

  3. What happened to letting 100 guilty men go if it means one innocent goes to jail? Isint his comment kind of you know…the ooposite of that?

    • No, just those evil titanium drivers and jumbo-sized golf bags capable of carrying up to 30 golf balls. Who needs to be able to driver 300+ yds or the ability to lug around all those golf balls?

  4. It is irresponsible to ignore the number of lives saved through DGU’s, and also the additional lives lost in states with poor conceal carry laws due to the lack of the deterrent effect.

  5. That is how auto manufactures have been forced to install backup cameras in 2014 in most all vehicles although NHTSA testified in front of congress that they believe it would save no lives. The chance of saving a life is zero, but the rally cry of “Even if we can only save one life, we have to take action.” makes the irrational emotional argument including the testimony of one parent who through their own fault ran over and killed their own child testified in tears.

So, in 2014 in certain cars you will pay between $600 and $1400 more for a device that even NHTSA says will save no lives.

Welcome to the new normal where emotions trump reason, logic, evidence and all known means of critical thinking — just so we can feel good!.

    • I don’t think that is new. In fact, if 2007 called me and asked me to make “___ year called” joke about your new normal statement I would have said that a year between 1999 and 2002 had called.

    • Back up cameras in my opinion are utterly useless and if anything unsafe.

A well trained and experienced driver may use them to see what is directly behind them but then default to using their mirrors. A not so experienced driver will just watch the TV and miss everything that is coming from off camera.

I worked for an ambulance service that had them in all of the ambulances and almost everyone watched only the TV. That camera only showed the rear bumper to about 2 1/2 feet out, nothing more. Goodluck in court explaining why you didnt see that child running behind you from the side of your vehicle.

  6. I reject your reality and substitute my own! The guys on either side of Biden in the picture have the look on their faces that says, “What the ?!*& did he just say?”

  7. So glad Biden is in charge, the guy says the dumbest things that people do not listen to him. If the final report is knee jerk crap like this people won’t buy it.

If they were smart they would chisel away at the rights instead of trying to destroy them in on large strike. But they only want it to look like they care.

  8. This photo should be in a caption contest. The people sitting next to Biden have a worried look on their face like “what the hell is he about to say that is going to ruin my carrier” ha ha….

oops just noticed David beat me to that idea…classic…

  9. You want to save lives Joe? Eliminate “gun free zones” and arm teachers so these criminals get stopped and the rest of them realize they don’t get easy access to a murder zone.

  10. Even the guys on his left and right are looking at him like, “Did he just use that logical fallacy out loud, in public, again?”

    • I think Obama put him in charge of this, so when it fails, everyone will blame him. And he (Biden) won’t run against Hillary in the primaries in 2015!

  11. What LE Officials is he meeting with? I have a feeling they are cherry picked ones against CCW etc from states/cities with stringent gun control laws.

  12. In the last couple of days I have heard of 5 car pile ups of more than 20 cars and multiple deaths. Yet not one word from Crazy Joe or his boss.

    • Just the other day my partner and I pulled up on a wreck at an overpass on a major highway. Guy fell asleep behind the weel, took out one car with a mother and baby inside and landed on his roof in the center lane.

He FELL ASLEEP! No big deal though. People who operate firearms within the rules are wayyyy more dangerous than tired drivers.

People on the roads below are lucky he didnt clear the overpass when he flipped. Also lucky that three ambulances were there right when it happened

  13. Good ole Machine Gun Joe. What would we do without his infinite knowledge of guns. I can’t wait to see him suit up and come to my door to collect my deadly assault rifle.

  14. Here is a quote from the source article, “… Biden met Thursday with Cabinet members and law enforcement officials from around the country. He said he wanted to meet with the group, which included representatives of at least a dozen law enforcement organizations, because they ‘know better than anyone else what’s needed out there.'”

Biden didn’t include any advocates for citizens’ rights in that group. How shameful.

  15. How fortunate are we to have this idiot heading up the task force or whatever. Yay. Come on by brother. I’d be honored to hand him my AR personally.

  16. Even if we only save one life? Hmmmm……

Ban cigarettes, alcohol, cars, peanuts, sharp knives, fatty foods, electricity, pharmaceuticals, swimming, running, biking, walking, ice puddles, construction, airplanes, box fans, rope, tall buildings, WAR, blunt objects and whatever else may save one life at the expense of others.

    • Haha I just saw it…

      “The Vice President”

Hes so unknown that his name wasnt enough. Glad it wasnt followed by “of The United States of America”

Heres your sign… err um nametag.

      • His handlers were just reminding him of his job title. He probably needs to be retrained after every coffee break.

More and more I have the feeling that a new AWB is going nowhere.

        • Jwm, thanks for the laugh.

I am hopeful on your later statement. Thinking about the front runners in gun control, Biden, DiFi and Ms Shoulder Thang it dosnt look good, for them.

  17. No, let’s not ban cars to save one life. What we should do instead is mandate that manufacturers install NASCAR-style roll cages, front & rear clips, bladder-encased fuel tanks, roof flaps, and steel & foam energy reduction barriers on every street, road & highway. Also, mandate that every occupant of every vehicle wear a 5-pt seat harness, fire suit and ANSI-approved helmet. Doing all of this would save more than one life, and all I ask, Mr. Biden, is that you (not the taxpayer or consumer) pay for it all.

Or we could encase everything and all people on earth in Nerf-foam so that no one is ever hurt again. Biden can pay for that, too.

  18. Many psychologists say that one of the big problems are media saturation of these events and the resulting copycats.

We should limit the first amendment and censor all newspapers and media outlets. If we could save one person it would be worth it.

    hehe

  19. For any trying to actually understand suggested reading:
    http://www.prweb.com/releases/school-shootings/psychiatric-drugs/prweb10257504.htm

“In determining what would prompt a person to commit such brutal and senseless crimes, the press must ask the right questions, including: What, if any, prescribed psychotropic drugs the perpetrator may have been on (or in withdrawal from).”
“Nearly every mass school shooting has involved a minor under the influence of psychiatric drugs…”

  20. This is the guy who sponsored the original Gun-Free Zone Act, which has enabled every single one of these rampage killing sprees, save one, I’m sure he’s gonna be real objective concerning any solutions that don’t include violating law-abiding citizen’s freedoms protected under the Second Amendment. Only place Biden should have at the table is in the bathroom, washing the blood off his hands.

  21. If we can get one more criminal off of the streets, its worth getting rid of Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth Amendments. Same logic right?

  22. Thats been the brady cry for years. If only one life is saved, just don’t touch our criminal safe zones, because a life must be saved by giving up guns, not by zone abolishment. I didn’t know the bradys could get their arm that far up sock puppet joes a$$. These zones are in the forefront now & I belive they will begine to fall. Aldi’s had their signs, then they took them down & now they have armed guards here, what a concept, Randy

  23. I am confident that this fool will be a big reason that the AWB fails. Remember the VP debates? Hes a fool and everyone except Obummer knows it.

On the flipside, he could just be a face to take credit and the the taskforces true architect.

  24. Hey I know this is off topic but I was wondering if you knew of any widgets I could add to my
blog that automatically tweet my newest twitter updates.
I’ve been looking for a plug-in like this for quite some time and was hoping maybe
you would have some experience with something like this.
Please let me know if you run into anything.

I truly enjoy reading your blog and I look forward to your new updates.
