“Ninety-nine point nine percent of the gun owners of America are wonderful people that you are hanging around with here today. Perfectly safe. Perfectly harmless. Wonderful, loving, generous, giving, caring people. Would you leave us the hell alone? Go after the nut jobs, go after the murderers, because I don’t know any. We need to lock up the bad guys and when people show dangerous, murderous intent, which everyone one of these mass murderers showed — all their neighbors, their family, their teachers, their fellow students, they all knew they were crazy but, Piers, we didn’t stop them because we’re worried about hurting their feelings. We have a mad man problem in America… let’s focus on that and leave the rest of us alone.” Ted Nugent to Piers Morgan
Good ol’ Ted.
Everytime Ted brought up a valid point, Piers threw it to break it ended the show.
pier’s who?
piers moron, thats who
If this his Piers guy had less air time… We can watch his deportation live on TTAG. I swear, the gun control debate is the only job security he has at this point in his abysmal career. Ignore him.
Red Eye, on FNC, at 3am has more viewers than Morgan in prime time.
A “motor-city” mad man problem?
I was thinking the same thing…
That leaves Ted in the .001% club!
Regardless of what some think of him, Ted is one of the most eloquent spokesmen for the RKBA that we have right now.
And that’s pretty sad, considering he built his career in part on polarizing and alienating many people who should have been strongly RKBA all along.
I am adamantly pro-RKBA, and a liberal, though without many friends anymore on that side of the aisle so to speak. The problem I see is that now that Americans are pushing back against the idiotic excesses of PC, the lefty sorts have to have SOMETHING to demonize. So now they’re turning to inanimate objects.
One of my favorite things I’ve ever heard Ted say. He makes me cringe occasionally, but not this time. Well done Uncle Ted!
I can only hope that Mr. Nugent and others will read this before their next televised interview. Here is the most damning question that they can pose to Piers Morgan or whoever is conducting the interview. If you believe gun control laws will stop criminals from assaulting people with firearms, please explain the insanely violent situation in the country of South Africa. South Africa has had draconian gun control for years and years. And yet criminals in South Africa use firearms to assault their victims many, many times more often than happens in the U.S. How can that be?
Here are some numbers and the source:
South Africa
– Population = 50 million
– murders with firearm = 31,918 *
United States
– Population = 300 million
– murders with firearm = 9,369 *
Thus South Africa, with 1/6th the population of the U.S., had about 3.5 times more murders with firearms. That means South Africa’s murder rate (where criminals used a firearm) is about 20 times higher than the U.S. That’s what gun control does for you.

I don’t know, I used to go to South Africa often and at that time they had very liberal gun laws for foreigners. You basically got a firearms permit for you gun or guns from customs when you landed and that gave you the right to carry. I know that they have gone through a lot of changes, not only with gun laws but with everything. However even back then (1980s) it was one of the most dangerous countries in the world.
The problem is we are not perfectly safe because we are a danger to the children. Not the Sandy Hook type children but the children of the minorities that support obama. We say self defense & they say wrongfull death. Are they going to leave us alone? No F’n way, at least untill the lawsuits are too costly for them. The thousands of innocents that are killed by minority violence means absolutly nothing to liberal “justice”. Jerkson basically says, if we can save one gangbanger we will happily bury 5000 of you. Obviously our self defense is literally laughable to them, Randy
Your response comes across as a bit knee-jerky…but I think you have a valid point. Understand that conventional MSNBC/Kos/DU liberals cannot think clearly about anyone’s behavior, per se, without first referring to the color code/chart in their pockets. They have been trained, with genuine punishments and threats, to react knee-jerkily to the “white = bad/”of color” = good” orthodoxy. It’s to the point where local black community leaders point out that the crisis is cultural and family based. The libs/progs simply cannot hear, because their media are operating in the 1970s and 1980s mindset. The proliferation of politically extreme media has not helped, and more and more people get lost in those echo chambers.
Most of my friends these days are disaffected from both the “right” and the “left,” from both/all political parties. But the MSM right, left, and in between do not reflect this complexity of political and social discourse. And since they get their ad revenues from grabbing eyes, they keep spinning the various established orthodoxies in whatever way it takes to get attention. There are always new young eyes to grab. Now both the DNC and GOP are falling over themselves, trying to figure out how to program the “millennials.”
Now that we face a constitutional crisis, we simply need to dig in and trust one another. And stop repeating the divisive reactive memes, and start getting out and talking to others. Including those we disagree with.
Well said uncle ted.
To control freaks, criminals and the insane aren’t a problem. Those two classes of people only harm their fellow citizens, and when they do so, everyone agrees that they should be under the control of one authority or another. The gnawing problem to the control freak is the good citizen, the people who live their lives and harm no innocent person. How can such people be brought under control? The only option is to pass more and more laws to criminalize behavior that hurts no one.
Absolutely. The control-freaks go completely batty at the thought that there are people out there free to do whatever they want (Gasp!). Who knows what trouble they might be getting into?
Everyone knows that when the kids are playing in the other room and it gets “too quiet,” that’s when it’s time to stick your head in and check on them. That’s fine, because they’re children and still require some supervision. The problem is these people want to treat the entire country like those five year olds.
Exactly right, and a solid analogy at that.
Ted said pretty much exactly what’s been boiling in me for the last week. Back off, America.
Good stuff, guys. Excellent points.
On a related note, there’s a line in one of the books in the Song of Ice and Fire series (that’s Game of Thrones to most of you), where Jon Snow and Ygritte have the following exchange, which hit me hard with its simplicity and truth.
“And when I’m free, will I be free to go?”
“Sure you will. And we’ll be free to kill you. It’s dangerous being free, but most come to like the taste ‘o it. You’ll see.”
And it is a sad time for our Constitution when people get their life-truths from HBO, a division of Time Warner.
http://hotair.com/archives/2013/01/18/todays-gun-control-heroes-time-warner-cable-to-reject-ads-that-feature-semiautomatic-weapons/
You do know that he’s quoting the book, which has nothing whatsoever to do with HBO or its subsidiaries? And George R. R. Martin didn’t necessarily come up with the idea, because freedom is a two-edged sword, and it can be dangerous if you don’t know how to put it to good use. Don’t get me wrong, though; while freedom can be dangerous, living under an oppressive state or a tyrannical dictatorship IS dangerous.
Even though he at times puts his foot in his mouth,
Ted does come out with real gems.
Too often, Ted can be soooo over the top that anyone who doesn’t already agree with him can be completely turned off. However, this logical and subdued version of Ted seems to be settling in to get some business done. Good work, Ted. Keep it up.
Anyone else notice at the 1:55 mark that Morgan concedes that you need “assault weapons” for hog hunting?
There goes that “YOU DON’T USE THEM FOR HUNTING!” argument…..
Methinks Mr. Morgan expected from Ted what he got from Alex Jones.
Methinks Mr. Morgan’s gonna rethink that strategy.
For all his faults, Ted Nugent has never been more eloquent and sound in his defense of 2A rights than he is now. If only we could get him, Mr. Colion Noir, and Nutnfancy or Sturmgewehre a primetime slot on every major news network…
Keep it up, Nuge!
Are you nuts? You can’t put nutnfancy on regular tv – the guy can’t make any point in under 20 minutes. You’d need an hour with no commercials to ask him two questions.
Wow. Piers got a 20 percent hit rate. With an AR 15 at what looks to be about 50 feet. That’s, ah, really amazing shooting there, Mr. Brit. Maybe you should slow down on the trigger a little next time.
He was trying to make a point on how fast an AR can be shot, I shoot that fast while moving to cover with at least a 60% hit rate. “We got hogs in Michigan too, big ones I might have to defend myself”, Real world example of how I defended mine with an AR 15, 2 years ago 10pm I had 9 yotes in back yard trying to tear my daughters rabbit cages apart I had my ar and a flash light, now I have a flashlight mounted to my AR,
Sorry so much here PM just gets me so F***ing worked up, I wish he would get deported.
Piers Morgan and his ilk totally miss the point. The 2nd Amendment isn’t about hunting. It’s about allowing citizens (who form a citizen’s army or militia) to keep and bear military grade weapons. And no, Piers, not tanks, RPGs or jet fighters (though I do know a guy who collects tanks. None of them capable of firing, of course, but still cool as hell.) The 2nd applies to arms one can bear, that is carry. Piers would have to be as strong as he is ignorant to walk around with a tank on his back.
Numerous cases in the 19th and 20th centuries which invoked the 2nd Amendment to protect a certain type of weapon from being banned, such as Bowie Knives and sawed-off shotguns, were decided against those weapons because they did not have a clear military value and were of little to no utility for a militia.
In other words, it was the AR-15s the 2nd Amendment was written to protect, not the .22LR Crickets. The Founders wanted us to have guns with which we could actively resists tyranny, whether external or internal. Not going to resist much tyranny with only 7 shots in a magazine.
sure we will all carry 4 weapons, and if it comes to it those 10 round mags will have *Gasp* 10 rounds in them
Mr. Nugent certainly came across as somewhat more active in the grey matter department than I’ve seen him otherwise. However I would much have preferred if Piers Plowman had interviewed Collion Noir, Oleg Volk, Kathy Jackson, C. Michael Arnold, Ross Eliot, Joshua Vogel….
On the other hand, the people who expected Mr. Nugent to be the lightweight he often posed as might be surprised. Though I doubt their minds will change. The problem I see with conventional kneejerk antigun liberalism is that its proponents only talk to the minority of people who agree with them. They don’t know any gun owners…or, like people prior to the 1990s said about gay people, they THOUGHT they didn’t. ;D
I despise them both, though not equally. People call Alex Jones a buffoon and Nugent “good ol’ Uncle Ted”. GO FIGURE.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=veOl60l28Ck&feature=share
Piers, I cant help but think of him as the driver of this car….
“I respect your opinion and I respect you coming down to talk to me” Really Piers, that made me laugh.
Amen TOTAL LOGIC!!!
CNN hired some armed guards to protect Morgan and the staff while they were taping in Katy, Texas. At least one of the guards had an AR-15. I guess CNN CAN understand the “need” for an AR.
I hope someone brings that up in a future discussion with Mr. Piers.
Go Ted!
For the record, Yemen has a lower homicide rate than America. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_intentional_homicide_rate
Yes Piers, let’s bring up Yemen.
