“Gun rights and civil rights aren’t anything like the same fight. Gun control isn’t slavery, and it isn’t discrimination on the basis of who a person is, therefore, it’s very insulting to claim that [an open carry demonstration] is in the name of ‘outreach.’ It trivializes the civil rights fights, and badly trivializes the horror that was slavery.” – Rika Christensen, Violent Right-Wing Open Carry Freaks to March Through Predominantly Black Neighborhood [via aatp.org]

    • Some know-nothing lib-tard who doesn’t have enough to do with her life so she sits around writing about Americans who own guns like they are demons from hell. All of her articles I could stomach to scan couldn’t seem to refer to law abiding citizens as anything but “Ammosexuals, freaks, and gun nuts.” And of course she has the credibility and the experience to back it up!

From her site: Rika Christensen is a writer of several years’ experience, and loves writing about and debating politics. She’s also a strong animal-rights and welfare advocate.

WOAH! 7 “years experience”…. Not working for a local paper or selling books, just “several years’ experience”… Wow, nice to hear she made it through high school.

  1. So says the admitted liberal, animal rights/welfare advocate from Chicago.
Then again, next thing you know, she’ll be a senator, then president in 2020…
    Lord save us

    • Chicago, a town filled with poor blacks. I have never seen a city so full of overt racism. The locals like to tell me how racist we are in the South.

      • Isn’t it funny that at some point every liberal starts to become the most racist person you have ever met? Because every time someone doesn’t have “something” its because of their race and the government should step in and give “it” to them. The economy sucks, I just thought some people didn’t have jobs because of local demand or their education. Apparently its because they are black. Funny how quickly that thinking turns back on one.

        • Well there is some truth in it, as a demographic blacks are more undereducated than other races so a company may use creed as a false indicator of a hire’s education level.

        • @Slicer87

Perhaps, but there is already a law in place against that practice…. oh wait…. There’s ways around it, like claiming some other more accepted “legit” reason instead of getting stupid and telling the truth and getting in legal trouble.

  2. Ummmm, don’t you actually have to be….. VIOLENT….. to qualify as a “violent, right-wing, open carry freak”?

    • This. I haven’t heard a single story about someone in the OC rally shooting anyone or triggering a massacre. That’s not what they are there for.

    • GOSH don’t you know anything!? Just wanting to own a gun makes you violent. Thats why the government has to step in and do something! Just like being black makes you poor and the government should step in and fix that too!

    • Rule #1 – Lies and emotions trump facts.

In headline only twitter world, all you need is read is the headline and you have all the information you need.

Facts, who needs facts? If in common core you can justify 2 + 2 = 5 why would you bother with facts?

If they can fool you with emotions, they can take your rights away without much effort.

    • When you’ve been brainwashed to think “having a weapon” = “violent person” …

There a lot of deprogramming that needs to be done for some folks.

  3. So what made slavery bad wasn’t the slavery, it was the discrimination- as long as the slavery is fairly distributed we’re good to go.

    • But whatever you do, don’t point out the existence of white slaves or black slaveowners. It messes up their narrative. And G-d forbid you should bring up the fact that more people are enslaved today than there ever were in the Old South.

  4. Gun control in the United States has its origins in racism against black people… Turns out they were easier for evil men to oppress when they couldn’t protect themselves or their families. Go figure.

  5. I love her hypothetical wrap up; “what if a group of armed black men came into a white neighborhood to collect food for the poor?” She thinks we would call the cops rather than, you know, donate food. Actually, we would be out there with them, asking about their EDCs, shooting the breeze. These people, on the other hand, would not be able to hit the deck and crawl under the bed fast enough. Memo to liberals; WE WANT YOU ARMED!

    • She’s admitting her own racism and assuming everyone else is just as racist as she is. That’s the gist of the whole article. Without assuming everyone is as racist as she is the article has no point.

    • Of course, every conservative likes to talk about how that Obama Administration refused to prosecute the New Black Panthers for “intimidating” those white voters someplace Up North.

(Never mind that the Bush Administration declined too, but that’s inconvenient to a rant).

Anyway, nothing scares white people more than armed black people. And nothing scares an armed Texan quite like an armed Mexican.

      • Texans aren’t scared of Hispanics with guns, we’re just tired of the plague from south of The Rio Grande.

      • “Anyway, nothing scares white people more than armed black people. “

You are a hoot, man, I’ve gotta say. Project much?

Armed black people don’t scare me any more than any other armed person would scare me. Depends entirely on what they are doing, not that fact that they have a gun in their possession.

Job I used to have had me in contact with armed folks of various races and ethnicities on a daily basis…no worries there.

Folks of various races and backgrounds shoot at the range(s) I go to, and I see folks belonging to various races out hunting a lot, too.

I know it does not fit your stereotype, but it does not seem to bother the FWG’s in these parts one single iota. Or, the non-FWG’s, either, for that matter.

      • As a white Texan, I am quite happy knowing that my black and Mexican friends and neighbors are almost as heavily armed as I am.

      • Liar.

When I write the governor, lt gov, legislators to advocate for campus carry and open carry, I never put in my letter “but only for white people”.

        Stop lying.

      • Been watching too many old Hollywood movies?
We are not afraid of a hispanic with a gun, our shooting league has members of many races, creeds and welcome their famly members and children as well, Personally offended by your statement. Do you live in Texas? Ever visit here?
Oh and by the way, not afraid of blacks with guns either, happy to have them join us.

    • Personally, every time I see black people legally and responsibly enjoying firearms it takes everything in my power not to run up to them and give them a big hug and say “thank you so very much for not adhering to negative racial stereotypes, for contributing diversity to the pro gun movement, and for destroying the negative stereotype of the racist white gun owner.”

Last time I was at the range there was an older black gentleman teaching his son or grandson how to shoot a rifle. I damn near had tears in my eyes.

No I’m not being sarcastic, although maybe I am exaggerating a bit.

  6. ??

It trivializes the civil rights fights, and badly trivializes the horror that was slavery.” – Rika Christensen

They were slaves because they didn’t have any weapons. They didn’t have weapons so they would try to run away. If they were caught, they were killed, maimed, or scarred for life. You think for one moment if they had guns they would say – “We are going to put down these guns and peaceably protest.” No. They would have shot their slaveholders and run away. And honestly, you and I would probably do the same thing in that situation. I don’t see anything trivial about it.

    • And after the blacks were freed by Lincoln (a Republican), the carpetbaggers (democrats) passed laws prohibiting blacks from owning weapons. The KKK was founded (in Indiana) by white democrats, and was populated throughout the south by democrats. I was watching a short program about LBJ signing the civil rights act, and the comment was that his doing so “cost the democrats the south for the next forty years.” Yet the current liberal democrats want to blame all of this on southern “redneck” white republicans.

      • Carpetbaggers were from the north and helped make policies against the Democrat governments of the South. The were not Democrats, they were out for all they could get. They helped put ex-slaves in congress(whites that fought in the south got no vote and women could not vote). The little money allowed for reconstruction from the north got handed to whites that did not fight and to whites who said they were helping negroes.
Even the KKK and other nighttime riders hated the yankees first and then the blacks that did yankees bidding. There were ex-slaves that rode with ex-owners against yankee policies.
Making it a war against blacks happened over time, but it was the policies of the north, putting ex-slaves over white men, that got it all started.
40 acres and a mule was a term the north used, the blacks believed it and it was just another lie. The whites that wanted the slaves freed did not want them in thier towns, they wanted them gone somewhere else.

  7. “What do you think? PLEASE NOTE: AATTP has a no tolerance policy for comments containing racism, bigotry, extreme personal attacks or direct threats of violence.”

    LOL!

  8. I think she missed the idea that slavery would not have happen if the African tribes would have be equally armed as the Europeans that were trying to enslave them. It would have been just another war.

    • …not necessarily. Brush up on your black history. There were tribes who sold other tribes into slavery.

That said, I always find it humorous when whiter-than-white-bread liberals try lecture others on the black struggle… and get it wrong.

      • Or when white conservatives try to speak for black folks, or for that matter when they tell everyone how liberals think. That’s always a hoot.

Especially since liberals KNOW how conservatives think. Or are lead. When those conservatives aren’t dragging their knuckles 😉

        • Oh, and I left out the biggest irony of all. Conservative blacks that claim to speak for the black community as a whole. Conservatives are what – less than 20% of the black community in the USA?

        • Not hard to figure out how anti-gun liberals think…

Every five minutes they’re blogging about their hurt feelings and death wishes upon “right-wing gun nuts.”

        • Isn’t the gist of everyone’s comments that one can only espouse one’s opinion and that /nobody/ can speak for any group with any kind of accuracy?

        • John You think 80% are that damn stupid? I doubt it. Massively manipulated and bought/sold for the benefit of the progressive does not make them stupid (progressives). More likely just pragmatic.

Despite the massive corrupt welfare etc most blacks do still have REAL jobs. If you have a REAL job you may not know you’re allowed to be conservative, but you are. IF have some BS gov’t “job” again the ward of the state and anything goes.

        • Hey John G. I consider myself to be conservative on most issues. So you don’t have to claim you to “know” how I think or feel without actually “knowing”, I will just tell you directly.

I believe in the Constitution as it was written by our founders. I believe in a limited Federal government, as intended by our founders. I believe in personal responsibility…I don’t expect anyone else to provide means for my family, either financially or defensively.

These are my core beliefs, plain and simple.

    • The Arab slavers are European now? Or do you think they were just the hired help? Or did you not even know about the link in the chain? Or about the millions of Africans currently enslaved by Muslims?

  9. I get so tired of overly educated white liberals claiming to speak for me. I once had an acquaintance come into the store I worked in and ‘sympathize’ with me on the mistreatment of poor Rodney King. She was just like this idiot. No actual knowledge other than what the revisionist history books and the Main-stream Media echo-chamber told her to believe. I blew her mind when I pointed out that Rodney was a dope-head who resisted arrest and got the pummeling he deserved. I think this idiot would have a coronary if she ever met myself or Dirk Diggler or any of the other blacks that visit this site.

    • C’mon now, black people don’t own guns. Neither do women or gay people. Or liberals. Or atheists. Only conservative,Tea Party-loving, Bible-thumping white guys from the South own guns. If all those other people owned guns, then calling people “ammosexuals” would not be acceptable.

        • There’s no such thing as a “Liberal gun owner” just like there’s no such thing as a “Liberal economist”, “Liberal business owner”, “Liberal Free Thinker”, etc. etc. The mental illness they suffer from makes them actually think the endless restrictions on liberty of all kinds goes hand in hand with supporting it, be it free speech, freedom of association, freedom of contract, the right to bear arms. Their delusion also results in them stooping to name calling and assuming everyone who disagrees with them on any one issue is a card carrying conservative tea party member, even if they are as lefty-loosey as them on every other issue but the one divisive one. Liberal doesn’t have any apparent stages, you’re either Moonbat leftist lunatic chugging Karl Marx’ bathwater and spewing out obsessively big government socialist insanity, or you’re not Liberal and this is how *Liberals* apply it. Liberal Gun Owners do not exist as a result.

        • No, “ammosexual” is a bit of fourth grade ad hominem. It serves as a marker that the person using the term isn’t sufficiently mentally advanced for grown-up discussion.

  10. And without arms, what’s to prevent a return to slavery? I suppose we will all just ride away from our oppressors on the backs of our unicorn friends.

  11. I presume since she is so down with the Brothers, she is aware of the Black Codes, that prohibited Blacks (freed slaves) from owning weapons. Now why is that? Better yet, I surmise she is keen on the founding of the NRA to the point that anyone Black and who owns a gun needs to be a life member. But I digress

    • Of course I’m down with the Brothers; I’ve watched Roots! See how educated I am? I used a semicolon.

    • Dirk I’d love to see an educated, non-statist black man like yourself or Colion Noir debate one of these pseudo-intellectual, elitest liberals with the gall to speak for a race they don’t even belong to. It would be entertaining for sure.

  12. It’s not trivializing civil rights, to have a political demonstration not be secluded only to white people. On the other hand her rhetoric is indeed attempting to trivialize a basic human right.

  13. Oh goody, the character assassination of gun owners continues; evidently the lady believes we are delusional, prone to violent outbursts, and racist. Then again I suppose it is easier to debate a caricature than a person.

    • Hey, this lady believes that eating fried chicken is racist, too. I don’t know how to break the news to her that a good many non-black folks like fried chicken. KFC is counting on that!

  14. She’s an idiot. Robert Williams would disagree with her. She should read Negroes With Guns and research the racist history of gun control.

  15. Per Merriam-Webster, the definition of civil rights is “the rights that every person should have regardless of his or her sex, race, or religion.” In the United States, civil rights are inherited by every citizen per our Constitution. No one right trumps another. They are equal and inalienable. So, the 2nd Amendment is no different than the 13th Amendment, or the 1st and 19th, which the author would never argue against the importance of.

  16. Gun rights have always been vital to the struggle for civil rights. Please take the time to actualy read before you spew your ill-informed opinions.

  17. Psssh, I’ve heard COUNTLESS pro-2A/Anti-OC proponents parrot those same sentiments. “Discrimination is about who you are. 2A is about about what you do. It’s not the same!”

  18. “Protested Congresswoman, Sheila Jackson Lee’s, office last year, doing stupid, racist things like eating fried chicken.”

I didn’t know white people weren’t allowed to eat fried chicken. This is very disheartening. I mean I Like black people but I LOVE fried chicken.

I wonder if I can get a special excemption card. I am definetly willing to give up high fives and Starbucks.

    • fried chicken is good, but you haven’t lived until you buy a paper plate of bar-b-qued chicken and fixings from the sidewalk or a church parking lot.

Remember, all people like to eat, and tasty food is a mixer. Something we all have to remember is that blacks are Americans. They want to see thier kids do better than they did and many are great family people. Most are ready to smile at you and take you at face value, like a Bible study group. I understand the caution here, but good will has to go both ways.

  19. Why do liberals feel totally comfortable with name calling in editorials. I love how pejoratives like “freaks,” “gun nuts,” “tea baggers,” and “gun fondlers” are totally ok when casting gun owners as sub-human, but liberals cross out another politically incorrect word on a weekly basis. I am really getting tired of all of this double standard.

THIS is why we need to be above insults and ad hominem attacks. Stop it with the “lib-tard” comments people. Her argument is ridiculous and unhistorical, and there’s plenty one can say about that.

    • Focusing in on their allergy toward facts, their fear of the rational, their inability to do simple math, and their compulsive desire to pontificate a delusion that abrogates reality by use of excessive government force should always be done. They resort to childish name calling like the immature children they are, we can stick to *wit* and poke fun at their ludicrousness while maintaining our position on the highroad.

    • “Can’ we all just get along?” Kumbaya Kumbaya Kumbaya

Lovin some unicorns and fuzzy kittens and it will all work out if we just pull the covers up over our heads until ______.

  20. Photographed wearing black…Porker
A recent study showed that those who have a low level of self-esteem were more likely to support socialist causes which tends to support that Commies are both unattractive and stupid
Once again the r/K theory is proven correct

  21. “Gun rights and civil rights aren’t anything like the same fight. Gun control isn’t slavery, and it isn’t discrimination…”

The Bill of Rights is not a combination menu at a Chinese Restaurant. You don’t get to pick and choose which rights are good and bad. Everyone you take away erodes the value of them all. Free speech, gun ownership, equal rights. All or none. That makes them the same fight.

  22. Dumb bitch… Malcolm x was the original open carry, pro gun activist. MLK was guarded by armed volunteers. The safe streets act of 1968 was a direct response to black protesters being armed. Gun control itself came from racist roots, meant to keep social classes well defined.

  23. “Violent Right-Wing Open Carry Freaks to March Through Predominantly Black Neighborhood ”

    What is violent about marching?

and why do people need to bring race into it?
other than that MLK AND Malcolm X were both proponents of firearms and self defense, does it matter what kind of neighborhood theyre in?

“it isn’t discrimination on the basis of who a person is”
What was the title of this article again? Oh yea…….

So discrimination, I do not think it means what you think it means 😡

  24. Click the link if so inclined. It seems to be the left wing equivalent of STORMFRONT. BTW while I DO support open carry this demonstration seems a bit over the top. Giving poor black women a shotgun to defend themselves & their kids would convert way more people. Plenty of black folks getting legally armed in Illinois thank you. From an OFWG married to a beautiful black woman.

  25. According to her bio she has been writing for “several years”. If it wasn’t for that stupid website, she’d be several decades away from publication. I laughed my ass off at the accusation that eating fried chicken is racist. If this twit had any clue or education she’d be able to equate the Jim Crow laws of the post – Civil War period with the disarmament of freed blacks. Another liberal twit with no sense or knowledge of history.

    • “Another liberal twit with no sense or knowledge of history.”

And quite likely, no real life’s experience outside the sheltered existence that has allowed her to create her own solipsist world.

  26. I left the comment below on their site….it has been “awaiting moderation” for 50 mins now.

This is hilarious. You know gun control advocates are losing the fight when they have to cloak their weak arguments in allegations of racism. But of course, emotional attacks are all you have left when facts and data don’t support your viewpoint. This isn’t a black/white issue, it’s a legal one. They’re allowed to open carry b/c that is the law.

Also, as far as gun rights and civil rights being unrelated, I would adamantly disagree, as would MLK Jr. & Malcolm X. The President of these United States is African-American…how dare you stoop so low as to inject race into this debate. Shame on you!!!

    • That is one seriously bitter hate filled libtard haven. They have lost the battle of ideas so they conduct a 360 attack on anyone that isn’t as bats… crazy as they are.

The battle for the TEA groups isn’t really with the these libtards (if they would just stay out of it (Thad) it is with the RINO establishment.

      • The leftists care very much about the outcome of the tea party vs. establishment battle. RINOs are extremely valuable. They consistently give the progs most of what they want, plus they provide a scape goat and Emanuel Goldstein figure.

RINOs basically say: “I can implement that stupid, authoritarian, big government idea for 10% less than the Dems can!”

  27. She “is a writer of several years’ experience”, except that she doesn’t even know how to write her own credentials properly!! How about trying “with several years’ experience” if she’s going to go with such an awkward statement?

Just proof that any idiot with an internet connection can voice their mind. Sadly, it seems she got some other idiots to listen to her opinion by posting her garbage on their garbage site.

    • They continue to spew the bile that their humanities and liberal arts professors pumped down their throats. They don’t need to write well. They don’t even need to be internally consistent, much less consistent with objective reality. As long as they are ideologically correct, they are welcomed with open arms. Path of least resistance for an aspiring young political writer.

  28. Classic lefty argument. “I don’t like X, so I’m going to use a logical fallacy make X an aspect of racism. And everyone agrees that racism is bad.”

  29. A little white girl pretending to be something she’s not. I’m surprised she didn’t mention that she speaks jive.

  30. “Violent Right-Wing Open Carry Freaks to March Through Predominantly Black Neighbourhood”
    What a bitch.

  31. Gun Control has it’s roots in racism in this country. The KKK was the first organization to propose gun control of any sort in the US.

Modern day racist gun control takes on a lower key approach utilizing the war on drugs to disenfrancise 25% of black men by making them felons and thus taking away their right to vote while at the same time making it illegal for them to defend themselves and their rights by taking away their guns. This all started not too long after the Black Panthers started open carry demonstrations.

  32. “It trivializes the civil rights fights, and badly trivializes the horror that was slavery.”

Except that the civil (and constitutional) right being oppressed here which she is trivializing impacts FAR more people than slavery ever did. In fact, it is largely the oppression of the right to self defense that makes it possible to enslave people. So to be more accurate, trivializing the right to self defense contributes to the horror that IS slavery, both past and present.

  33. Best quote I ever heard said by a black man ” if my ancestors had been armed they would not have been slaves ”
    :

    • “Any unarmed people are slaves, or are subject to slavery at any given moment.” – Huey Newton

  34. Big problem is all those members of the Congressional Black Caucus are voting against the Second Amendment. Oh, yeah, and that other black guy, Obama, is leading the fight against the Second Amendment. Blacks are enemies of the Second Amendment. You can’t even call them fair weather friends of the Second Amendment. Worse than Arabs or Afghans, who you can at least rent for a while.
